SOSbySMS is an application designed to send a pre-defined message to a contact of your choosing. The message will contain a request for that person to call for help on your behalf, a link to your approximate coordinates*, the time it was sent, the number from which the message was sent, and also the accuracy of the given location.

The purpose of this application is to allow you to contact help in the event that you need to do so quickly and quietly. Though it is not as direct and effective as calling 911 (or your local emergency number), it can be effective enough to get you the help that you need. Simply start the app, select your contact (or multiple contacts, if your messaging app allows for that), and send the message.

The app is designed to automatically attempt to turn on WIFI*, then allow the user to select whether he/she is requesting the police, fire department, or lifesquad. Other than to select your contacts, no further typing is necessary. This makes the app quick and easy to use, which is vital in a high stress situation.
