Slick USB 2 Serial Term Pro for Android
Works on my 2013 Nexus 7. I'm looking forward to configuring switches/routers without my bulky work laptop. The app could use a few more cosmetic features such as changing the background or the font. Also this app seems to be inserting a timestamp every time I press enter in the Cisco IOS. I haven't done any testing to determine why, though.

Worked once I have to unistall and reinstall to get it to work constant crash loop someone please help or I will ask for a refund. Sucks I was really looking fwd to thus.
The APP is OK but lacks features other emulators have and the email address bounces as undeliverable
At last, I have no need to carry the laptop around to get the job done. Appreciate much.

Ok I have tried to set a hex bite of 1B, Tried hackers keyboard that has ESC key on it. If you have ANYWAY of sending the ESC key from a soft keyboard I would really like to know how. Without the ESC key I get stuck in menus in my equipment and then have to go get a laptop to then back out of the menus. Because my laptop has an esc key that works! Can you PLEASE fix?!?!?! I already paid the 6 bucks and without that ESC key working, this program is junk for me. With an esc key working, 5 stars all the way.
This software works pretty well, especially with the prevalent (and cheap) Prolific USB adapters on my Transformer Prime. Occasionally I see situations where it loses track of the device and the only solution is to force stop the application. It takes a little getting used to having the input below the actual position of the cursor, but it isn't the end of the world either.
Worked great! Picked my prolific usb serial cable up right away. I agree with some of the other reviews. It would be great to have logging enabled and also be able to up arrow through previous commands. I look forward to playing with this some more. Great job so far. This is a big win for the android platform.

Works great on my TF101 via the USB host dongle. I'm debugging my hardware via a serial port without a PC! As the default keyboard takes too much screen space, I use the Hacker Keyboard apk and resize the keys down to 30%
As a ham radio guy, it is great to finally be able to plug my Android tablet into some radio gear (like a TNC for packet) and use the terminal window. Seems to work well with my Asus Transformer using an IOGEAR usb serial adaptor.
Works great with a prolific USB to serial adapter and after market USB adapter for the Tab 2. Using for NMEA and serial data testing of marine electronics.
Great tool for quick access from my galaxy s4..
Great app! Works as advertised-
Sucks, after purchasing the Pro version and purchcasing a Prolific usb to serial; cant get it to see usb adapter. After multiple email to Slickdev Labs, no response.
Works great for connecting to routers, and modems, and most any RS-232 device.
Looks like Samsung is blocking USB devices in new firmware (4.4.2) or probably with new security policies. Application simply stopped working on Note 3, which is a pity. Was real lifesaver
Awesome. Does what it says
On my Toshiba Thrive. I was using the previous PRO version and this is as close to a real terminal you can get. You can even scroll the display back like TerraTerm. Creating custom BYTE buttons allows custom keystrokes such as CTRL S (pause display scroll on my system) that the onscreen keyboard can't do or do quickly. Still getting use to the new version. The previous version I created a custom carriage return BYTE button. Use to the way it worked but will see. Worth every penny if dragging around a laptop in the field is getting old. Million thumbs up. Thanks.
Id like to use this more especially because of the sharing functions that other similar programs don't have. But theres a few improvements id suggest. Keep the display screen visible when typing (right now it scrolls off the screen when you go to type). I'm using a teensy 3.0 arduino comparable microcontroller, and the first two letters of the serial output are cut off for some reason (instead of hello world' its 'llo world's). This does not happen on other comparable programs. Also I really wish more devices were otg compatible (not your problem but a general frustration of mine). Thanks for a good product! Greg
I am using this to help configure Cisco network devices. Was able to connect straight away with a Dynex USB -> Serial apapter that was available at best buy for $36.00. Highly recommended for admins that want a new level of portability
works with my ftdi323r and recognizes utf-8. But unfortunately no ansi esc sequences (e.g. colors et cetera) and even too less baudrates (need 921k and 1MBaud)
This app has saved me from having to carry around a laptop to do Cisco switch configs!! Super easy, plug up, hit connect, enter and your configuring. Thank you so much for this app, the network world is a little bit better now!!
This app rocks! Walk into data center or closets, and perform config changes with console cableprolific usb to serial adapter on my Asus Android. Other Cisco engineers stare...that's right...Apples are for eating. I get ${}!¥ done by working not playing. Get me a capture feature to dynamically capture my rolling configs right from the screen and a folder tree format to store my connections, 5 stars.
Have a prolific adapter and this item reports no adapter found on my samsung phone. This does work on A13 mid. It popped up message asking to have access. It did not do this on my phone
Good app, would be greater if it also supported the usb console cables for cisco 3750x front console port. My only issues are that on the Note 2 it is difficult to see what you are typing because the "save/del command" section takes up a lot of space. Holding the phone in landscape mode lets you see what you are typing, but you have to turn to portrait mode to see results.
Using on my TF201 to connect to Fortinet and Cisco devices. Works as advertised and very useful! No need to carry two machines with me every where now! The only thing that kills me is the TAB key on the dock does not autocomplete nor does the up arrow display previously entered commands. Have not set the BYTE buttons yet so that may solve my issues there but other than that, great app!
Worked for awhile... it's now in a loop, when you start the APP you receive a pop-up stating that "Slick USB 2 Serial Terminal Pro has stopped." when you touch "OK" the pop-up goes away.... nothing else happens. The APP is not running and after a power-reset, you try running the APP again...you get a pop-up stating the the APP has stopped. I emailed the company, I get no replies.
This is a good solid console app and is well worth the money, despite minor issues. I have two prolific USB serial adapters from different vendors and they both work on my Asus TF700T Infinity using a ASUS port to USB adapter (I didn't buy the keyboard dock). I am using this connect to Cisco network equipment. It's important to note that key break sequences (i.e. Ctrl-Shift-6) are supported via virtual hex Byte Buttons. First the minor issues: - Local ECHO stops working randomly (could be hardware, driver, or app, not sure) - Cannot edit or view byte buttons only create and delete - Menu disappears when the virtual keyboard is used. The application function for keyboard combinations is to program a Byte Button. For example, the Ctrl-Shift-6 (Ctrl-^) is 1E in hex. I programmed a byte button called Escape and set the value to 1e. To break a ping or traceroute from a console session, I touch the Escape byte button, type x, and press enter. You can also save this command sequence by hitting Save before pressing enter. By saving it, you don't have to go through the menu system to re-issue the command, you just pick it from the Saved Commands drop-down list.
As of this writing this is the only viable serial terminal tool for Android (sad but true) and it could use just a few simple features to make it the only one that is needed. One: in-app special key control (especially the ESC key). I don't really like needing to switch soft keyboards to get this feature (and even when I do it seems broken). Two: control what shows up on the default screen. The custom commands and Save/Del buttons would be nice if they worked with option 1, since they dont i want the choice to get rid of them since they waste space. Three: Fix the prompt line. As of now, with local echo turned off (as it should be by default btw) the chars still show up there. Four: fix the "update settings" option to actually retain them for the next time the app is launched. tl;dr- Worthy app if you absolutely need a serial terminal on your android device. But not worth the $6 in it's current state. I for one will keep looking for other options.
You made my day when i seen this, It lets me connect to our filers to use terminal commands and works great only thing i would ask if you can is to be able to save the data whilst in use like autosave, This would make it perfect.. I was looking at going down the Apple route and Get Console but with this it now makes Android eat apple once again. Motorola Xoom is what i use it on... Can't get to work on my Galaxy S2 as that wont see the USB Prolific ?
Great App, but for some reason it seems to filter VT100 commands, is there a setting I have to turn ON to enable it?
Works great on my Transformer Prime with the Trendnet TU-S9. Seemed to work for my purpose, but I couldn't find the option for Flow Control.
I see this app in a youtube program. I was ecstatic to finally find an app that would let me connect to Cisco or Juniper consoles. As I planned to use this app a lot and I believe in supporting a developer that has made an app I'm going use heavily I bought it ($6.99). I go to use the app to connect to a cisco switch. I can't seem to connect. I finally email the developer as it's been my experience that they always help you. Now Android Market says that this app is compatible with my galaxy Note 2. I email the developer and he says that it isn't. I email him again to ask when does he think the compatibility issue with my Note 2 will be resolved? And how long does he think it may take. I get no reply. I wait some and email the dev again as he may have gotten busy. No reply. I wait and email him one last time. No reply. As I have spent more than $2.00 on this app I expect to receive a bit more help then what I have gotten. I can only give 1 star to this app. Don't buy
Works great for me. I'm using it with a USB On The Go OTG right angle adapter connected to my S3 and then with a tripplite U209000R USB to serial dongle, http://www.tripplite.com/sku/U209000R/ , and selecting the Prolific adapter Type in the app. I can connect to the console port of Cisco devices and have full access to verify status and make config changes if needed. The option to save commands is great so I don't have to type everything each time. A full size tablet would probably be much better, but for quick verification and simple config changes, its just what I need for my phone though. Thanks.
Liked it so much I bought it - don't think I've spent this much on a single app before but it's worth it! Works perfectly on my Motorola Xoom 2 ME and my HTC Sensation (with custom ROM/Kernel) and means I can leave the laptop behind. Being able to save commands is great, but I have loads (dozens) and would appreciate being able to sort and group them, maybe even having profiles for the groups as these would be different types of equipment that I'm connecting to. What would also be nice is a row of buttons for assigning common saved commands to and also a 'Send' button, for using loading a saved command then waiting for exactly the right time before sending it (not using the keyboard or the 'Send data every keystroke' option). Also a minor cosmetic thing, it'd be nice if the keyboard didn't push the buttons and settings off the top of the screen - the app needs to resize a bit to allow the keyboard at the bottom (Xoom in portrait mode).
As a long-time networking products support guy, CCIE 1868, serial console access is key. My Viewcon USB2-VE487 USB2RS232 with a Cisco DB9M2RJ45M (blue) console cable and the Slick Pro App ROCKS! I can access my Cisco IOS and Dell-Force10 FTOS devices from my Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (GT-N8013 ICS 4.0.4) using the onscreen or bluetooth kbd and s-pen with the Amazing or Graffitti Apps. Get it for lab use. Check this: Router#term len 0 Router#wr t Building configuration... A couple of suggestions and feedback. 1. Any chance to add a scroll bar to be able to view information that has gone off the screen? 2. On Cisco routers, the password gets displayed back to the terminal, any options to disable this? 3. It would be great to enhance the terminal a bit, like adding some popular features found in Putty.
