I never regret to bought this app. Very useful, I love all of its features and I use it almost every day.

Simply the best Japanese dictionary app on the Play market.

Great app still 5 stars. Problem/bug with dictionaries. After updating them today I'm getting Russian, German and Italian entries along with English. I saw another user had a similar problem and followed your advice of setting them to eng but no luck. Any idea if there's another setting I'm missing? edit: Thanks for the quick reply and fix, everything is working again.

C70%

Great App! 5th star if you can solve/fix/explain what I'm doing wrong. On my tablet (Samsung Note Pro) I can export to Ankidroid but on my phone (Galaxy S5) the option isn't listed. I have both apps installed on both machines. Is this a bug or an option/setting I've missed? Help me out and you'll be awesome forever!

I like some of the functionality (exporting saved notes to anki, looking up other words that begin with the same kanji) but the fact of the matter is that the dictionary is incomplete, often missing key or common words. Also, the built in testing option is badly laid out, with many fields and an inability to randomise/choose just to do the readings, or the translations. Not satisfied.

C70%
by C####:

I started using the free version first and it serve its purpose as offline dictionary. So as a way of support I had the pro version. Plan also to have the popup reader.

C70%
by C####:

One of the best japanese-english dictionary there is. There are alot of free ones including the free version of aedict. But this is the only japanese-english dictionary worth your buck, you might find the kanji search using the writing input frustrating if you havent learned the proper strokes order. That said overall impression is very good, it have alot of dictionary so you can even find rare words for science, engineering, ect. It also gives examples, can search words other than its 'dictionary form' and even search proverbs. My only request is that people can delete the search history by selection rather than the whole history.

C70%
by C####:

Hello, love the app but I have one request if I may, could you make an option so that when app is open after being minimized the search string is empty and the cursor is In place to type? There is an option which seems to be related to this i think but it doesnt work.

C70%
by C####:

This app is the ultimate Japanese dictionary for me. No disappointment whatsoever.

I70%
by I####:

Overall very good, but it often messes up after it gets updated, speed fluctuation and often doesn't detect dictionaries even after getting updated. That's the problem I'm having, not being able to use since the update. Four Stars from my end till issue gets resolved.

Aedict apps are really great and helpful in studying Japanese!! Now the only Aedict app I've yet to buy is the KanjiDraw practice and soon I'm gonna purchase it too! Just a suggestion: can you add a notification that shows a random word from your notepads? I think that would be a nice addition in learning Japanese. Thank you so much!

This app can't be moved to SD card on Marshmallow. My phone's memory is getting full, so about 250mb of Aedict is really just a bit too much to handle. Please fix it. Thank you very much.

Fantastic dictionary. But, still takes too long to load. Recently reviewed feature seems to take a long time and it also appears to be Internet searching whenever a word is typed. Perhaps needs user option to explicitly turn these off.

C70%
by C####:

Loving the updates except for one change that has stopped you from opening up a particular kanji's information from the JLPT learning process review page, which I found useful for reviewing how the kanji was drawn as well as looking at words that use that particular kanji. I am not sure why an update would suddenly prevent a useful system like this from being used, and would like it reverted if possible, or at least given an explanation why this was changed. Other than that, exceptionally useful! Edit:thanks for the quick response, I look forward to the fix being applied, 5 stars for you!

C70%

Recently it had not been giving definitions for words. It used to be an awesome dictionary. The last couple of revisions I only get auto generated definitions of the word I looked up.

All around, the best Japanese dictionary and language app available. It also happens to be my most used app. Thank you so much for this. It's nice to see it hasn't been completely abandonded! I'm happy to support this developer after using Aedict 2.9 for so long. I'd still like to see more verb inflections. Marshmallow update: I'd really like to see this app able to run from external SD Card. It's taking up too much space on my very limited internal memory.

C70%
by C####:

The app is truly great! I have been using it for a while, but this week I have noticed something weird. After I look for a new word, it's not showing automatically on the "recently viewed" list. However, if I close and reopen the app, it's there. If you could fix this I would really appreciate. Thanks

きんゆう in romaji should be typed "kinnyuu" as every other IMEs do, instead of having to type "kin'yuu". Other than that I use this app for its pitch accent feature. EDIT: Thanks for getting back! 侵入 would require three consecutive "n"s. The input would be "shinnnyuu". It might come off as illogical at first, but IMEs usually interprets ん based off double keystrokes, meaning two "n" equals ん and a third "n" would start on the next syllable (にゅ in this case).

The best dictionary app I have ever seen. It has everything a learner can wish for. Combined with Japanese input and speech synthasiser, it creates the ideal environment.

[Martin – Thanks for fixing the crashing problem almost before I realized it existed! *The picture downloaded in about 1 second.* Unfortunately, the dictionary downloads are still slow as hell, even from my PC. I’m in Japan. Speed tests to random German servers show normal speeds between 60 and 90 Mbps. Download speeds from your server hover between 30 and 60 KB/s.]-------The wildcard function makes this dictionary so powerful! Amazing! This remains far and away the best Japanese-English dictionary on the Play market, with a very responsive developer. Good performance. Intuitive layout. Export and multi-window support are phenomenal. The deeper you get into Japanese, the more you'll appreciate the depth and breadth of this app.

This app is my daily lifeline. I can't recommend it enough. Why don't thousands more use it? On Android N, the warning of "this app may not work with split-screen" appears. Aedict does seem to function completely if I'm already in progress with a search, BUT it seems to do nothing if I perform a search from the initial screen upon starting the app. Nor does it let me scroll in this case. I'm not sure how much effort it takes to update an app to compatibility with a brand new Android function, but your app seems to MOSTLY be there already. Please look into this! Thanks a ton.

Better than the alternative but not very good. Downloading the dictionaries is a real pain, taking more than an hour on wifi. Visually the screen is too crowded. The quality of the dictionaries is not very good, esp. for beginners since they include too many rare or unusual readings

C70%

It's a great dictionary. I tried using it on split screen with FBReader pro and Aedict crashed. Now it crashes every time I try to open it. Please have a look onto it.

My Go-To 日本語 dictionary. I bought it in BB10 and loved it so much. Now that I moved to Android, bought it again because it's one of my everyday app.

I'd been looking for the Pleco of Japanese. The different licensing rights landscape in Japan means that you can't get quite the same thing (i.e. all the top proprietary dictionaries on one platform), but this is a terrific platform, well designed and feature rich with good free dictionaries. Great app, and worthy of support via purchase.

C70%
by C####:

Martin, thank you very much for this. I am very satisfied with this dictionary. However, it would be good if Aedict would support an option to adjust the font sizes. On my phone the text is simply too small, especially the kana hints. It would also be nice if there was an option to automatically pronounce selected word.

I have used this dictionary, including the older version, for about 4 years in my Japanese class. I don't I could have graduated with my Japanese language degree and done all my translations without it.

I've used all free Japanese dictionaries and this was the best. I bought the paid version to show my appreciation of the author, only to find out it was even better. With every update, it's getting even better. But of course, there are still improvements possible. One could be the kanji drawing pad, which is still inferior to Kanji Recognizer. Another could be adding more options to the quick action swipe menu, especially a "delete" option. I hope the author considers these suggestions for future updates.
