大學證釋

夫子此次證釋大學，其誤處自當改正。然相沿已久，世人不明其故。　夫子慮或有疑，命於正誤處詳加述明，並將原本對列互勘，使人易明。至其章節本未分，後人雖別為各章，於聖人原旨未合。但敘其次第，無庸分作幾章，使人知一貫之義。

蓋道一而已，用之明德則德明；用之止善則善至。其詳略有差，其本末一致。如必分章節，則非將略者詳之，缺者補之不可。且修身以外之事，皆明德之見於事者。而本於格、致、誠、正。若分言之，遂疑詳於事，而略於內。豈聖人之原旨乎？故，格、致雖若明德之最初工夫；治、平雖若明德之最終工夫，而實則治、平亦格、致之事也。

蓋格致言其學；治平言其用。學以致用，無初、終也。故誠、正、修、齊，看是異趣，而皆一道，道無二致。故，誠、正即可致修、齊。其必分誠正與修齊為二，則誠正何用乎？故，次第言之則可；若分別之則不可。本無可分別而強分之，則人每忘其本，而以修齊治平為務，竟不復置意於格致誠正也。豈聖人之意乎？
