Contemporary Christian music (or "inspirational music") is a genre of modern popular music which is lyrically focused on matters concerned with the Christian faith.
It formed as those affected by the 1960s Jesus movement revival began to express themselves in a more contemporary style of music than the hymns, Gospel and Southern Gospel music that was prevalent in the church at the time.
Today, the term is typically used to refer to pop, rock, or praise & worship styles.

A church maybe called, CCM,but I'm talking about the music,itself. So let's get down to it. Accapella goes back to the "Barber Shop" style of music, but a couple of early CCM groups, including "Accapella," itself, came forward with their music. The SGM, had "Thee Imperials," that "suited up to make the "cross over," into CCM. They "blew the house away," their own way of singing music. Other groups had entwined Country and Southern Gospel Music genre, Statler bros.Oak Ridge Boys and others.
