You can use this app to avoid getting ink confused with lined notebook pages when you take pics of what you're written. Can't say I've ever had that problem... and since this doesn't offer the ability to transcribe anything you've written, I have to say the app has served me no purpose whatsoever. At least I did get that nice Leuchtturm1917 notebook as a gift.

It works as expected so far... but I can't share over slack. How is it I can share notes over a bunch of social media channels but not any chat services that are typically used for more formal collaboration like hipchat and Slack? Bizarre.

I was pretty happy with this app for some years now. The scan results are (most of the times) better than that of the evernote page camera. Especially in low light situations. Yet, currently the app has started acting up. It stopped uploading to evernote and even though I removed the connection to evernote twice and reconnected it, it did not help.

This is worthless. The paper is cheap and if you write on both sides there is a high risk of bleed through. I have found a scan success of less than 5%. Most of the time you cannot get it to work at all. Don't know if it is just the model of my phone but the app just does bot detect the paper at all. Super super frusterating.

this works perfectly for my work (fountain pen and drawing pen work) and cleans the page nicely to store notes and sketches. I love the 'squaring' of the page, this is sooo sweet. When sketching in pencil the cleanup function removes shading and construction lines, resolving various greys to Black if dark enough and losing light greys. If the Cleanup function can be de-selected for delicate work and shading this would get that last star from me. Edit Just purchased a new notebook and the page is a little darker, dots and grid more defined and the app recognition and alignment more solid.

C70%
by C####:

Worthless. App can't find the paper sensors and doesn't save images when it does go off and has a guess.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S6 with a camera in perfect condition and even under fluorescent office lighting, I couldn't get a single page to scan.

B70%
by B####:

App is too twitchy to get a picture of anything.

C70%
by C####:

This app is pathetic. Instead of making your life easier it makes it miserable and sad. After 20-th unsuccessful attempt to take a photo of 1 single paper I am considering suicide as a viable option of ending this suffering, because I need to take a picture of 31 page. Staying in hell for eternity is more pleasurable than having to make something useful with this app. UPD: a 3-sheet PDF of the 36MB size is not okay... not okay...

Took a while to take a scan, and the result always has some shadows remaining. Also, I don't see why it would export sketches as jpg? That does not make much sense for something oriented towards sketches.

C70%
by C####:

Does not focus properly

C70%
by C####:

Doesn't always recognise the outline of the paper. PLEASE include a manual function for when the last box isn't identified by the camera.

Having spent ten quid on a notebook with white lines paper I can not even get the app to take a photo/scan a note.

Super-quick scans and good perspective correction. But, the scanned images are of low quality.

When using Evernote, I recommend scanning with that directly

I am a fan of writing notes by hand, but at the same time, in this digital age, it is difficult to reconcile oneself with simply taking notes by hand. What if the notes get lost?! Whitelines is a brilliant way of combing the best of two worlds. I am very happy with the general concept of the app and their products as such. :) (My device is a Samsung galaxy S6).

The app works, but the output quality isn't great. First, the output resolution is less than native for my camera -- taking a picture "by hand" yields a higher resolution image which looks better than what you get using the app. Secondly, the output format is .jpg and introduces noticeable .jpg artifacts around all of the letters in normal ink handwriting. As a proof of concept, manually deleting the jpg artifacts and re-saving as .png yields a better looking and smaller final product -- this gives me hope that the app back end could be improved in the future. Page-finding and background subtraction both work quite well, so I could see myself using this app more if the output quality was up to scratch. I would love to have some metadata encoded into the notebook corner codes. You could imagine the app being able to sort your pages by notebook and put them in the right order. At the moment, as others have commented, you're totally on our own organization-wise.

I've been using the equivalent iOS app to send scans to my Evernote account for years, but am having slight problems with the android version. The default filename cannot be read by Evernote and the image quality (as others have mentioned) its noticeably blurrier.

I go through literally TONS of graph paper!!! Saw this cute little pad with white lines (instead of the editing-harsh blue) in Officeworks yesterday, had to buy it!! The concept is great!!

The image quality is really bad for text.. taking a photo manually gives much better results.

Will get 5 stars when: 1. allows for selection of camera app I want to take picture with; 2.Adds voice recording to snaps; 3. Enables external storage to let me sync/archive where I want

Once the application takes the picture it never continues into saving the picture... Totally useless unless this function is fixed.

With really good natural light it works like a charm, and is a great timesaver. Support for multi-page documents and pdf export would be greatly appreciated. However, when the light is not perfect, it does not work well (at least not on my FairPhone): it sometimes takes up to a minute until the photo is taken. Also, when I am finally able to capture a page, the automated cleanup almost completely removes my writing from the page (us use a .7 mm pencil). If I could manualy trigger the photo, and deactivate the cleanup, I'd probably be happy with the results. The app does not like energy saving bulbs at all, the app never triggers a photo, probably caused by the fast flickering of the bulb interfering with autofocus.

It is doing it's job, but the quality of the lines is not coming through at all. I have multiple line-weights in my sketchbook, but only a thick line weight in my image... I am not sure if anyone else is having this problem, but it is incredibly disappointing because I was really looking forward to this product..

Needs multi page support, have to scan pages backwards so you can upload to evernote in order, can't scan as you go or it is backwards. Love how quickly the ap detects the corners and aligns the page! Really wish evernote would detect the page corners, that would be perfect.

F70%
by F####:

Pros: Crops to page. Cons: Needs very good light, doesn't do multiple pages, and is slow. There are much better apps out there that work with any type of notebook. The biggest negative for me is that it doesn't do multiple pages; the rest I can get around. OCR would be nice but there is no effective OCR for handwriting anyway (although scanning a pdf into Evernote gets recognised).

U70%

Very nice app my only issues are that there are no tick boxes for google drive or Microsoft Onenote. If you added them this would be 5 stars easily.

I have a Samsung note 4. The app is hardly able to recognize and scan the notebook pages. I contacted the developers, but got no response back. So for me it is a useless app. I think I will switch back to evernote and Moleskine.

M70%
by M####:

Pages are illegible because camera doesn't focus properly on page, tends to focus on background. If you pull tap to focus it would transform the app because at the moment it's unusable.

I was so suspicious of this company is never heard of but I downloaded your app and printed out some paper for free via your website and WHOA..it actually works, really, really well. Awesome! I'm going to be using this for the foreseeable future.

So on average even in good light can take up to three or four times before a page is saved. But next page, even in the exact same light it simply won't register and save. Often I give up to be honest. It's a great idea but very hit and miss.

I quite like the concept of this app, and used it for awhile on my Samsung S3. However, I recently changed devices and for some reason the Whitelines-app doesn't seem to be compatible with the camera on Samsung Galaxy S6. Hope the problem can be sorted out as soon as possible! Once it is I'll have no problems giving the app more stars :)
