Japanese Kanji by Hand for Android
If you want to try it out before buying, you can try Kana by Hand. It's a free version that only includes hiragana and katakana, but otherwise works the same way.
Advanced writing tutor
Kanji by Hand is smart and tells you when you make mistakes. When reviewing your results, you can click on the answer to see the stroke order animated. You'll be quizzed on the basic characters and words which illustrate their use.
Full kanji character set
Kanji by Hand will teach you how to all Japanese kanji you'll ever need. More than 2500 characters are included, but don't worry, it starts with the easy ones and let's you progress at your own pace. It also includes more than 10 000 common Japanese words that show how the different characters combine to form words.
Spaced repetition for maximum retention
Kanji by Hand uses spaced repetition to make it easy for you to learn and remember. Easy stuff is repeated more seldom, and the hard things come back more often. For the best effect, try to do your reviews every day.
Sync your devices
If you have both a tablet and a phone, you can set the same account name on them to get your progress data synced automatically. It also works as a backup of your data in case anything happens to your phone. That's why you need to accept some permissions to install it, so it can access the network and sync your device.
On your device, just go to Settings -> Accounts & sync -> Kana by Hand -> Account Settings and change the account name so it's the same on all your devices.

Great app. Been using it for a year now. I love the recap modules you need to pass before you can move onto a new kanji. And how it covers so many of the most frequently used words from Japanese. Still my favourite of the LearnJapanese apps out there.
I've only used this for a few hours but already I can appreciate its value, but it could be much better with some minor enhancements. (1) I agree with Hesiris that the synonyms are confusing. Maybe the author feels the edict grammar abbrev (e.g. v5r etc) are sufficient but they aren't and there is no glossary. It would be better if there were coloured tiles to show number of characters needed for the answer, eg green for kanji & blue for kana. (2) stroke order could be relaxed, eg for mo, support both ways.
Writing kanji by hand helps learning and the recognition is pretty good. There are 2 issues however: 1. It needs a search funtion: after I reached 500+ words it is almost impossible to find what I want in statistics 2. The synomyms can be confusing and hard to remember, e.g.上記 and 前記 or 学科 and 科目 and 教科. I have a short list of what I have encountered so far.

This is a really good app for learning kanji. Teaches conjugations and not just stand-alone kanji.
Please make it less sensitive, it corrects characters when they're fine.
The best for learning kanji.
This app shows a lot of promise. Very nicely made indeed.
Is frustratingly persnickety about some items, but good practice. Reminds me of an old favorite from WinMo, King Kanji.
Great app. I'm still at the beginning of the modules, but it really does pick up where Kana by hand left off, then builds on it. There are much more words used, and I love that the meaning of kanji are always available, as well as spelling in hiragana.
