About Locale NFC Plugin

This is a Locale Plug-in. For it to work you will have to have Locale or Tasker already installed on your device.

How you use it:
1. Select the plugin in Locale.
2. Scan a NFC-enabled tag of some kind.
3. Chose actions that should fire when tag is scanned.

Please note that your screen will have to be on for the phone to be able to scan NFC-tags. This is a limit in the Android system and can not, at the moment, be changed.

Please also note that at the moment the plugin can't detect when you remove your phone from a tag.

The plugin reads the Unique Identifier of a NFC-enabled tag. This means that you will not need to write any data to the tag. Instead you can use any NFC-enabled card. Such as commuter cards, access card or whatever you have lying around. These cards can then be linked to trigger any other setting or action that is available from within Locale or Tasker.

One user scenario can be that you place a NFC-tag in your car. Once the tag is scanned it could enable bluetooth and start the navigation app of your choice.

It supports the following standards: Sony SmartTags, MifareClassic, MifareUltralight, ISO14443-4, ISO14443-3A, ISO14443-3B, JIS6319-4, ISO15693.

If you have conflicts with other NFC-applications such as the default Tags-app you can do the following:
If you have a Ice Cream Sandwich phone - System Settings->Apps->ALL->Tags->Disable
If you have a Gingerbread phone you will have to write a unique tag for this plugin. To do this follow this guide http://goo.gl/uZmYv

If you have trouble finding the plugin in Tasker, this is where you should find it. Create a Profile -> State -> Plugin -> Locale NFC Plugin.

If you have any questions or feedback feel free to give me a tweet or send me an e-mail.

The application have been tested on Galaxy Nexus, Samsung GalaxyS2 LTE, Asus Nexus 7 and LG Nexus 4.

I have an "in car holder" task which triggers fine. Yet when I move the phone a couple of meters away the task remains active. Is this a bug or the actual range? S900F.

T70%
by T####:

It is unclear why, but sometimes my phone fails to activate the NFC action for my tag. This plugin is useful in my car to prep my car dashboard app.

N70%
by N####:

The instant a profile is activated, it immediately reverts back to defaults. Press fix it for locale.

T70%
by T####:

If the tag is written with something, then it can read in Tasker. If there is data in the tag, nothing happen, the option allow repetitive scan doesn't work. I feel sad. Refund?

M70%
by M####:

Hello I have a Samsung s6 and it misses the default check box when scanning Nfc tags and all the time I am presented with a menu to choose from a bunch of apps which one to start. This app is the only one I have fund that you cand integrate in Tasker and if you withe a custom URL bad://access/development to the nfc tag it will start the task linked in Tasker by default.

D70%
by D####:

Works with Tasker, but will trigger false positives since it has no idea that the tag is no longer in contact with your phone. The developer mentions this in the description, but it would still be very nice to have.

I70%
by I####:

Using this with Tasker is really hit or miss. About 50 percent of the time it would not register the scanning of the tag.

X70%

Y70%
by Y####:

Works as described, however it would be better if it could work as an event trigger in tasker rather than a state.

H70%
by H####:

Great plugin that works as advertised. Scan a tag to activate a tasker state, scan another tag to deactivate the state. (Scanning the same tag to "toggle" will be in a future update.) Tags do not need to be programmed (which is awesome), the plugin just keys off the tag ID.

Y70%
by Y####:

I downloaded this initially to use it with Tasker. But when you set it up in a Tasker profile and then scan a tag, the phone displays a "Choose an action" pop up with my NFC tag apps (including this app) as choices, which defeats the purpose of "automating" tasks if I have to choose manually. Interestingly, the other NFC tag app (NFC Task Launcher) launches automatically when I set things up using it, without the "Choose an action" pop up.

O70%
by O####:

I wish it could distinguish tags by the URL they contain rather than just one URL (bad://access/development)

Y70%
by Y####:

Allow repetitive doesn't show up on my screen... it is too small? gets cut off.

V70%
by V####:

It doesn't seem to read the same tag for exit tasks

S70%
by S####:

Works as advertised. I combined this with Tasker, root and an Xposed module that keeps NFC on at all times. In doing so I can tap tags with a locked, screen-off phone and have actions take place. Love it. Thanks developer!

Y70%
by Y####:

Provides an easier way to trigger particular Tasker events.

Y70%
by Y####:

no problems with this + Tasker. exactly what I needed

Y70%
by Y####:

When I scan a NFC tag it wont launch the selected items and just closes tasker, no idea why it isn't working, when i get it working i will 5 star

W70%

Doesn't work on an S3 running KitKat. Phone detects tag (& can read it) but plugin doesn't. I don't get the green tick, even though I hear the "Tag Detected" notification sound

Y70%

Nothing happens if the phone screen is off

I had been looking for this!

Very useful app for tasker to run profiles. Work on Tasker on Galaxy S3 I9300 without any issue.

Y70%

Would like repetitive tag selection to be the default option.

E70%
by E####:

I wish it had been implemented as both a state and an event, instead of having to specify "Allow repetitive scan". But hey, it works.

Q70%
by Q####:

Does exactly what it advertises to do, and yes it will scan the same nfc tag more then once if you set the repetitive option. Happy I bought this, because this is a real plugin for Tasker. This makes it more flexible than the other (free) apps that only can launch a task in Tasker.

A70%
by A####:

This is a nice little app. I'm using it with Tasker to trigger profiles when I'm in the car or at my desk at work. I was a little annoyed by the "Choose action" popup. I had to use the custom tag trick and now it is working perfectly.

Z70%
by Z####:

Everything works as expected but took me a bit of time to troubleshoot properly. I would have liked better documentation in description specifically for URL code and repetitive scanning (shouldn't that be a default on feature?). Thanks!

Q70%
by Q####:

I had some trouble understanding the app at first-the plugin can only be set in tasker using "State" context, but checking "repetitive scanning" basically sets it to "Event" context. I emailed the developer, he responded within half an hour, with an in-depth explaination of how the app worked, and what the limitations were due to the way Android handles NFC-he even offered me a refund if is wasn't working the way I wanted to. 5 star app, 6 star customer service.

Z70%
by Z####:

I tried using 'Tasker URL Launcher', but it doesn't seem to work on Jelly Bean. And 'NFC ReTag' is powerful, but seems an over-the-top way to launch a Tasker task (as a whole other app + service, it likely consumes more resources than just this Tasker plugin, but this is an assumption on my part). 'Locale NFC Plugin' however, seems the best way to launch Tasker tasks from NFC. You can have a state enabled upon the scan of one tag, and that state will be enabled until another tag is scanned (handy for turning off your keyguard at home). Alternatively, selecting the "Allow repetitive scan" option turns the 'State' into an 'Event' (ie it will start and exit the Tasker profile on the one scan), which means that you can have a task re-run each time you scan that tag. I love it.

Q70%
by Q####:

Exactly what I was after, and works a treat. While not exactly obvious, if you want a single task run when the tag is scanned (versus the default behaviour), you need to tick "Allow repetitive scan". It's the one issue (minor, as long as you're aware of it) with an otherwise great app. Also love the fact that the dev includes a way to force tags to trigger this app - which is necessary with the ever increasing number of apps including triggering of actions via NFC.

Q70%
by Q####:

Great feature to organize all NFC profiles directly within Tasker instead using a second app to access them and tie them to tags. Would be a nice function if I could scan multiple tags in order for triggering one profile. That way I could save some profiles as I use some profiles up to 4 times in different places and have to make one profile per tag.

Q70%
by Q####:

Overall, I'm happy with my purchase. The plugin works great. By the way, here's a fix for those of you who have phones which ask them what action to perform (Galaxy S4 does that): From your homescreen, scan the NFC tag; when the phone asks you what you want to do, tap and hold 'New tag scanned', then tap Disable. This will disable the phone's built-in NFC reader, so this plugin will launch automatically now.

R70%
by R####:

It does exactly what it says. The perfect add on for tasked users with NFC capable devices. I use the app to trigger car and desk dock modes with the docks I like. I also contacted the developer before and received a prompt reply.

R70%
by R####:

I wish I could use it to toggle tasker profiles on and off. I haven't been able to figure out a way to do it with this app yet

Q70%
by Q####:

Excellent. Excellent example of a no fuss-just does it plugin. Using with tasked is a breeze. Low price, 1 permission (nfc),great work!

Q70%
by Q####:

I was hoping to use this and do everything in Tasker, but because this plugin works as a state context, rescanning the same tag won't run the task again. Now, I'm using a different free app that simply runs a specified task upon scanning a tag. I suppose if things ever change and I can use this plugin as an Event context, it'd be 5 stars. Still kind of a waste when there are free alternatives (at least for my purposes.)
