About Biblia - Job

Bog

Job (Hebrew אִיּוֹב, Iyov) is a biblical book of the Old Testament. In the Bible (King James) appears as the first of the Wisdom Books, located between II Maccabees and the Book of Psalms; while in the Hebrew Tanakh, appears between Proverbs and the Song of Songs.

Theme
It is clearly the suffering of the innocent. Now from the remotest antiquity thinkers have become entangled in the thorny problem of the good man who suffers and the wicked happy. Even Plato was concerned the matter and gave precise formulation, but without finding a solution that does not crash into the philosophy and morality.

Several Greek myths relate to similar themes: Prometheus is guilty, but the enormity of his punishment as rebels; Oedipus suffers the punishment of the gods for a sin that he was not aware of committing; Hercules has not sinned, but the cuffs of the gods eventually crush him.

This is precisely the subject matter of the book of Job, the protagonist is a religious, good and just man, whom God allows Satan to undergo numerous tests and frightening. While Job suffers under the wiles of the Evil, three good friends try to comfort him, trying to convince you that if you suffer is because of their own sins.

Job gets angry and defends because he knows that this is a dishonest and vigorously rejects this argument. When a fourth friend who explains that suffering tempers the soul and spirit, Job continued complaining appears.

Finally, Yahweh himself is present, reproves Job for not accepting His will and for their complaints, the protagonist returns to his former happiness.
