Why use Progressive Chinese?

Progressive Chinese is a vocabulary trainer for people learning Chinese. The app simply helps you create and maintain decks of flash cards while also automatically scheduling regular revisions to keep you on top of your learning. The app comes pre-packaged with a large database of words and characters which can be added straight into your decks. To keep your learning relevant we have also categorized over 3000+ vocab entries into lists which can easily be added straight into decks ready to be revised.

Progressive Chinese works to manage the learning of vocab and tries to introduce new vocabulary to the user from the pool of characters that they already know by making vocab learning suggestions. This helps the learner to decrease the gaps in their vocabulary (word knowledge) that months and years of learning characters would produce. Simply add the characters you already know to a deck and use the "Suggested Vocab" filter to start adding suggested vocab to your deck.

When learning Chinese, or any language, it is recommended that the learner has multiple streams of learning at the same time especially when aiming at the goal of being fluent in that language. To learn Chinese the learner must blanket their mind with different words and characters, not letting their learning become too narrow and specific. Using the Progressive Chinese app is a easy way to introduce an additional stream of learning or to compliment the already existing streams that you are using.

Note after uninstalling the app, the database will need to be manually removed from the sdcard. You can find the database in the ProgressiveChinese directory on the sdcard. This was required as part of a fix for older android versions.
