يعد تطبيق "المرشد السياحي" من اهم مخرجات نظم المعلومات الجغرافية الذي تدعمه الإدارة العامة لنظم المعلومات الجغرافية بأمانة عسير لمواكبة التطورات التقنية في هذا المجال وباعتبار أن الهاتف النقال والاجهزة الذكية تعد الوسيلة الأكثر سهولة للمستخدم لإجراء التعاملات الالكترونية بدون تقيد بمكان او زمان حيث يهدف التطبيق الى تمكن المستخدم من التعرف على مدينة أبها بجميع تفاصيلها العمرانية ابتداءً من المباني واسمائها مروراً بحدود الاحياء ومسميات الطرق والشوارع الرئيسية والأنشطة التجارية والمعالم الرئيسية والمعالم السياحية والخدمات وإلى غير ذلك من المعلومات القيمة التي يمكن إستعراضها على الخريطة مع امكانية الوصول الى اي مكان داخل مدينة أبها باستخدام نظام الملاحة المتوفر على هذا التطبيق،
