ReadItToMe - Unique Handsfree for Android
LOVE that I can adjust the pitch of the voice! Having some difficulties with the volume of the voice, but hopefully that will be fixed in the next update. It's also fantastic that you can customize what it reads to you for each individual contact & app.
Not bad. Has s problem of reading the text during the notification sound so you can't always hear the text being read.
On the paid app the lock that is suppose to prevent messages from being read out loud DOES NOT WORK! Other than that, the app is great...
Phone: Samsung Galaxy Note 8. Updated 1/4/18 6:10PM: Decided to restart phone. Things appear to be working again but this incident has given me pause for reflection. I think I will just add Bluetooth devices individually instead of using the All Bluetooth profile. Updated 1/4/18 5:55PM: Tried the same trick again by adding a Bluetooth device manually and shortly thereafter my phone hung again. Updated 1/4/18 5:50PM: Tried a non invasive trick by adding my Bluetooth device manually as a new profile. That worked but then my phone hanged (System UI process) for about ten minutes before coming back. Now I can't point the finger at this all but the timing is suspicious. Updated 1/4/18 5:40PM: Since update the All Bluetooth function no longer works. Have not tried intrusive troubleshooting (like reboot or reinstall) but this seems to happen every time there's an update. Previous: Probably the single most important app I've ever purchased for a cell phone. With this app my phone can tell me if I received a text message and then read that text message back to me. I use my phone all the time to listen to music, whether it's using headphones or my car's Bluetooth. Using ReadItToMe makes driving safer. I can now keep up with incoming texts while my eyes are on the road--and paired with "OK Google" I can also send replies safely by just talking. If you own a car, own a smart phone, use that smart phone for music, and are in the bad habit of looking at your phone while driving...this app may literally save your life.
Was looking for an app which does what Cortana did for Windows phone. This is fantastic, would be 5 stars if you could initiate sending a text hands free by waking up your phone using the cars Bluetooth button or calling a number like cortana does. it's a great app and worth a try.
The problem I had with this app not reading messages from one of my contacts was fixed, but with the last update, the problem has returned.
Call and SMS notifications no longer work and once selected the app does not remember your selection. Have told the developer this for the past few releases but this continues to be a problem and continue to receive no response.
Works good. A bit confusing tho.
I enjoy it, can turn on my headset and work all day, while this app reads whatever notifications from any app I choose. Text messages etc. Works great so far
I have it set to repeat messages 0 times. It repeats them anyway. Annoying.
After trying several other apps Readittome is the best, most flexible SMS to speech app for Android. It works as described. Well done!
With the full version trial period over it only reads an occasional basic text that comes through
I'm blind, this app helps a lot.
Works well most of the time
I'm 70 years old and am very happy with this app,
This is the best app fur hands free messaging!
I have been using this app for a while now on my S7, S7Edge and find it excellent in reading sms and emails. Well done.
Using the app with my Pixel 2 and Phonak Bluetooth hearing aids. Works great. Especially appreciate ability to delay reading to allow Bluetooth to get the whole message. Also appreciate ability to select and control which apps use this to read messages. Finally, the developer was very prompt to answer questions and help get things set up.
App works okay. Volume is muffled at times, especially when playing through my car Bluetooth. Sometimes it will not recognize my voice on Bluetooth and turns off my music app after muting for notification. It seems like more work on the app is needed, but I will continue to use - it is still the best one I havce found!
Even with this latest update, and on Nougat and Oreo (in different phones), it announces "new message from" instead of "incoming call" when anyone calls my phone!! Confusing! (It's a good app when it works, but it works off and on)
At last an Android text read/write bluetooth handsfree app that works almost as good as a Windows phone used to straight out of the box, can't quite send a text without receiving one first but certainly the closest thing I have found to using my old windows phone in the car. Pro version well worth the £1.75
I needed a app that would only transmit messages to my Bluetooth headset when driving as I have a passenger I don't wish to hear my messages.... sometimes it will only come out of my Bluetooth profile and other times it comes out the phone even with the phone profile turned off. I've been through all the tutorials. Bought the app..... hoping you'll can fix this issue.
Latest update reads messages twice if app is check in app list but not read if contact only is checked to read. If sms is not viewed on screen, message is read again when new message arrives.
Doesn't work. Hasn't worked since I got a pixel 2 xl. No settings fix anything. Developer unresponsive. Garbage
Good app, my preferred app for reading text messages over Bluetooth, but the recent update is causing problems from my Google Pixel XL to my 2013 Chevy Cruze where the messages come in and stop the stereo but only say "New Message" but never reads it and ends the call.
Does not work thru car's Bluetooth. 2016 Maxima.
It can read the whole notification from apps not the short preview
Doesn't read messages over Bluetooth in car
Excellent customer support. Friendly and timely response from Rob K. Love App...
From what I've seen it is a great app I plan on getting the paid for app
Want to know prices monthly for this
Ive had the pro version for 8 months or so but it has never worked right. It will read me my msg while driving but wont let me respond. She tells me sorry please try again later every single time before I can say a single word. Then she will re read my msg again and again in high pitched fast voice and messes my radio up and I have to manually reach over and put my radio back on. I should give it one star but it does read my msg to me albeit over and over.
Works well so far. Only thing it doesn't do is pick up your voice if you are away from your phone. I figured it would use your voice through the wireless bluetooth headset. The only feature I would change is that. Other than that, the best bluetooth voice reply app out
The app is great for doing what it should while driving. Although a lot of times, when I'm done driving, the profile for my car will still be running. I'll get into work or something, and my messages are still being read aloud. Even took the latest upgrade
What a great program, runs easily in the background, perfect for working and being productive around the house. Whenever a message comes in, I know exactly who sent the message and what it says before I get to my phone. I don't know why this isn't standard with hands-free headsets or any Bluetooth for that matter but this works great! A bit of a fumble to get around in the settings and initial set up but if just stick with basics, it works wonders. One strange note, not sure if that's the settings I have or it's just the program, but when a notification is being read it will start out like someone turned the radio on and starts turning the volume knob up to hear it. For example, really quiet when saying "new message fr-" this is when it's finally audible, "-om (name of contact)" then it proceeds to read the message aloud for you! Other than that, helps a lot in my line of work where phone calls and emails and texts are required while working with my hands.
This app along with Launcher 10 has taken the pain out of switching from WinMo 10 (Windows Mobile) My Android phone looks as though I am back on Windows 10 Mobile. GREAT.
This function comes built into Windows phones, so why its not built into Android, I don't know. Having said that, I love this app as it replicates 80% of the Windows functionality. Given it has to run on any android phone and talk to any car Bluetooth, it's extremely well written and works very well indeed. 5 stars!
Finally !!! found driving app that works,,, but !!! keep phone plugged in it will drain the ???? battery. Update after few weeks it quit talking.Reinstaled it twice.Tweeked many settings cant get it to work..
Updated Review - On my Pixel2 XL, running Android 8 (and now 8.1 DP2) the voice response aspect doesn't seem to work consistently or ever over BT. It will often hang the BT channel open on my Ford Edge, requiring me to cycle the BT to get it to play music again... This also happens on a number of other BT headphones. Not sure if this is an Android 8 / 8.1 issue. or an ReadItToMe issue, but the app will read incoming texts fine... the BT/Audio response aspect is just broken. I have tried Notification stream/music/legacy, and BT Workaround modes and nothing works right. So ... its awesome for reading incoming notifications. Very bad at the voice response or control. I have submitted these aspects in the app to the dev as well.

I like this app because when my phone is connected to my Bluetooth office speaker, it will read my texts to me. It's much easier than my last solution, which was creating a custom Tasker profile. The only problem is although the app settings claim I can specify which contact's texts are read aloud, in practice every incoming text is read aloud, including Amazon delivery texts, etc. The "send voice reply" option (I have the pro version) is also hit or miss in accuracy. The send voice reply will pause Spotify as it should, but will only resume Spotify about 50% of the time. Minor niggles overall for a decent, inexpensive app.
