About Secure SMS
"Secure SMS" application allows you to connect two smartphones, as long as both have the application installed, on a private SMS channel and exchange messages without that they can be read by other people and in more detail allows you to send and receive messages in a completely protected way against:
• eavesdropping, because the messages are written (SMS) and not spoken
• wiretapping telematics because:
- not permanent on the device
- contents are coded and decoded with an absolutely secure way.
The app, as soon as is installed and launched, allows you to select a contact to activate a secure communication. If the contact that you want isn’t present inside the contacts list, you can write it directly.
Choosing “ACTIVATE”, the app starts a non-standard SMS communication, and so without registration into the device SMS inbox.
The communication is activated between two smartphones with the app installed on.
The communication is coded through a key exchanged, through SMS too, to the beginning, with RSA asymmetric keys of 1024 bits.
The method of generating the symmetric key and the encryption method are property of the developer and not known but especially there is no trace of the generated key.
Without knowing the symmetric key, it is impossible, even for the developer, decode the message.
To prevent the interference of third parties between the two communicating who attempt to intercept the exchange of the symmetric key, the app has an own safety certificate that makes unreadable the message anyway.
To ensure this, it is important to make all the updates provided, which are free, because the certificate changes frequently and must be updated.
IMPORTANT:
Please note that standard SMS have fixed length of 160 characters. If you compose a longer message, it will be splitted into more messages so that everyone has the maximum length of 160 characters. Consequently more SMS are sent, reassembled and displayed. This means that we often think of sending 1 SMS while we are really sending 2, 3, 4, etc., ones, with associated costs.
The SecureSMS app allows you to enter up to 125 characters for each message, in such a way that you can control how many SMS are actually sent.
The maximum length of 125 characters is mandatory because the others are used for the encryption procedures. In addition, the maximum length of a not standard SMS is 133 characters.
This restriction will be removed if will I receive information by the users that consciously will require that it isn’t important to know the real number of SMS sent, as with the standard ones.
Of course, the update will be free.
