English Romanian English Dictionary

English Romanian Dictionary is very simple, easy to use and comprehensive.
It contains half a million words - basic vocabulary, proper nouns, and technical terms in any areas: engineering, sciences, medicine etc.
Allows translation from English to Romanian and from Romanian to English (change the direction clicking the flags button found at the left of the edit field).
The database is stored in your phone or tablet, no internet connection is required (there is an offline database).
Clicking the results, the English fragments are read by a voice found in your phone to hear their pronunciation (the voice can be changed in Settings).
Clicking long the results, a context menu appears.
In this context menu you can choose to add a result into a vocabulary, to hear the English part pronounced by a voice, to hear the word spelled by the same voice, to copy the result into clipboard.
It is possible to search words by voice, saying words in English or in Romanian.
The searched words are saved optionally in a log.

Lexical resources
In the context menu of a result there are also many lexical resources like: phonetic transcriptions (IPA and Arpabet), English definitions, synonyms, antonyms, homophones, hypernyms, hyponyms, rhymes, frequent followers, frequent predecessors, word frequency per million. These lexical resources are offered by Datamuse API (datamuse.com.
In short, this dictionary can be used also as a thesaurus.
The lexical resources require an active connection to the Internet.

My vocabulary module
This is a module which allows you to add individual words and their explanations into a separate database. The first option in the context menu which appears after a long click on a result is Add to My vocabulary. It is possible to add into an existing section or to create a new one.
In the main window of My vocabulary module there is possible to view results by sections, to add, edit or delete individual records or an entire section and other useful options.
The sections can be exported or imported.
There are also predefined sections like Animals, Colors, Tools which can be imported.

Irregular verbs module
In this module you can view lists of irregular verbs, you can solve quizzes. It is possible the customization of tests choosing which forms to fill. After a test the system gives you a mark. The history of last marks, the average of all marks or of the last five can be seen. There is also an online table for score boards and statistics, you can set a nickname to appear publicly on the web page of the dictionary.

Android TV Version
Starting with version 4.0 (January 2017) this dictionary is available also for Android TV.
It was optimized to be used with a D-pad (five keys navigation - 4 arrows and an enter).
All the modules and options are available for Android TV. This way you can enjoy a dictionary on your big screen using just a remote control.
On Android TV, this app is considered as premium, no ads are displayed yet.
Incidentally, we can say that this is the first dictionary compatible with Android TV.

There are many options which can be enabled or disabled in settings:
- Change search mode, all occurrences or full words only;
- choose a preferred English voice variant (like British, American, Indian etc.);
- Keep screen awake;
- Choose the separator between words and explanations: new line, dash, hyphen or vertical bar;
- Play sounds for some events;
- Shake device for a new search;
- Choose text size;
- Block the portrait orientation.

There is a Premium version which removes the ads, this way the application works better.
Go in main menu of the dictionary and choose Premium version to make the purchase. Paying a small among, the Premium version will be available forever, even after a re-installation of the dictionary.
The payed version is available for all devices signed-in with the same Google account.
If the app is installed on an Android TV, it is considered as premium version, no ads are displayed.
