About Function Plot (Trial)
Function Plot is an Android application, able to draw the graph of any function F, within a defined (x1, x2) space, by connecting a large number of “x, F(x)” pairs on a Cartesian plane. Also, the user of the application is able to get any “x, F(x)” pair values, by just touching the function graph on the device screen.
Although the application is very powerful, it is simple to use. The user has just to define the function formula and two x values (x1, x2) between which the graph will be drawn. The Cartesian plane is auto-scaled in order to exploit all the device screen area. The Cartesian axes (x and y axis) are printed only in case that they are intersected by the function curve.
On the top of the screen, the application displays information concerning the already defined x values as well as the minimum and maximum values of F(x). When the curve is being touched at some point, the corresponding values of the “x, F(x)” pair are also displayed.
Using the last facility, the user is able to approach the roots of the equation “F(x)=0” by touching the points, where the function curve intersects the x-axis. Obviously, at such a point, F(x) equals to zero and the corresponding x value is a root of F(x)=0. By reducing the “distance” between the defined x values the approach of the root becomes more accurate.
Function Plot is a useful tool for students, teachers, scientists, engineers etc. that need to take a look at a function using their smartphone.
This trial version supports user functions with length up to 8 characters only.
