Galilean for Phones for Android
As an Astronomer and Jupiter enthusiast, This app has made my life so much easier. Most other apps associated with the Jovian system are hard to understand and give a bunch of pointless information and graphs that have no real use for the visual observer. Galilean for phones is exactly what I wanted. Not only does it display the current location of each of the Galilean moons but it updates you in real time as to when the next Great red spot transit is. It has an easy to use and understand interface with pinpoint locations of all the Galilean moons. I know it is listed as being an app for phones but it works perfectly on my Nexus 7 2013 as well. Never have I had a crash or lockup or bug. It is a great companion for observing the Jovian system.
Extraordinary! A well-organized & very useful ap for anyone seriously interested in Jovian observation. Great job!
I run public viewing sessions 3 times a week at an observatory, and I use this app several times a night. The first time for myself to check which moon is which and if the Great Red Spot is visible, and later that night for visitors to show them how far we have come in predicting what goes on in the heavens. This app is very accurate and can show you the view of Jupiter for several different telescope types. It is easy to change the time in order to explore when interesting views of the king of the planets present themselves.
If you are an imager, this is a must have.
