Prima Vista Sight Singing for Android
It's great to teach 4ths and 5ths for sight singing skills, but the intervals are not realistic. I don't often sing 4ths and 5ths at the start of a melodic line.
No longer working on my device
It's done great things for my sight singing.
Works perfectly and doesn't require any permissions at all. Wish all apps were like that!
It"s a splendid application
A great app for the serious student. Loads of exercises.
This app is excellent for sight singing. I'm just beginning, so I need an easy level and the App has tons of options for getting just the difficulty I wanted.
I'm trying to improve my sight singing. This software is good however it has one flaw in that it does not display key signatures at the beginning of the stave. As a singer this is necessary because everything we sing is written in a specific key, otherwise I have to try and work it out from the intervals which is a waste of time. I tried the option that says: show key - but nothing appears. Shame.
Enjoy the app. For the dictation, doesn't seem to work on nexus 7. Tried the music dictation on different difficulties and it only plays quarter notes and simple melodies. Can't seem to make it more challenging. Perhaps a bug?
This has a simple interface but has a lot of options to make it useful for singers at all levels. I like that you can set rhythm and melody options independently. If I could have given this 4.5 stars I would have because there are a few of things that could make it even better: beaming of notes, bar lines, time signatures, tied notes. However, as it is it is still very useful for improving sight singing.
As someone who regularly checks ear training software to get ahead, I've had much difficulty searching for programs that test melodic dictation and sight singing. This app perfectly helps with both, has customizable levels for even the most advanced musicians. One thing though, it does not open up to the menu, you have to hit your phones menu button while on the app to make adjustments.
Can't get the screen on my galaxy tab
Great app for practicing sight-reading. With regular use I have noticed steady improvements in my sight-singing speed and accuracy. In response to David below, the app plays the tonic when "Options->Hint" is set to "Play Basic Note"
When you install the app it uses chromatic notes and fairly complicated rhythm. But you can change the options to melody only, rhythm only, or both, so you can use this as a sight singing trainer or a rhythm trainer. The melody can be from the major, minor, or chromatic scale of length 5, 7, or 9. The only thing that would make this better is allowing the user to tap on a specific note to hear the pitch. Right now you can only choose to hear the first note, the tonic, or the whole melody. A different ear training that tests knowledge of intervals (with no sight singing), is the Interval Recognition app which I also recommend.
Great program except that it doesn't play the tonic ' basic note' as stated. Installed three times. Emailed and was told it worked for them.
Good for learning to sight-sing. Was hoping to be music scratch pad.
This app does what it says. Works fine. I wish it had a more basic level for beginners.
