About Wear Media - Music Gallery

Offline Music Player and File Manager and Gallery

With Wear Media you can manage your files on your watch and also move any kind of files or complete folders from your phone to your watch. During the copy process you will always keep the overview over the copy state of each file. Copied files or folders can easily be deleted with the integrated file explorer.
The integrated music player on the smartwatch allows playing of music files offline with different media types like mp3, wav, m4a, aac, mp4, ogg. This means that no connection to the smartphone is needed. The watch app has also a file explorer integrated with which you can navigate through your music collection. The player supports the usual play modes like shuffle or different types of repeat playing, next and previous track or change volume. Furthermore in the music player screen you can fast-forward or rewind the track with an nice looking waveform which is animated during playback. The music player can save the track position for each music file and therefore it is perfectly suited to use for audiobooks and podcasts. An audiobook or podcast usually has a length of about a couple of hours and storing the track position will help you to stop and start playing at the last position.
Additional, Wear Media has an image galerie integrated with which you can navigate through your transfered pictures and the viewer allows also zoom in and out of images.

Simple to use. Works well. Currently works better for listening to podcasts offline on a standalone Android Wear watch than any dedicated podcast app I've been able to find!

U70%
by U####:

The best app for coping media to my Android Wear watch, just wish copying was a bit faster. I imagine this is a hardware limitation by my watch has WiFi and it would be great if this could be used to speed up transfer. Great work either way.

O70%
by O####:

File transfer kept getting errors. Shuffle was only within one folder...whats the point if music transfers one folder per music artist?? Has potential but not very user friendly. Needs to shuffle across all subfolders from one main folder and strengthen the file transers so there are fewer errors. Also, when the app errors on a file transfer, the phone needs to be restarted in order to begin transferring again and the app adds duplicate files to transfer.

It's the only file manager that works on Android Wear 2.0 devices. That alone makes the app worth at least 5 stars!

I'm not sure what is possible, but I would like to be able to set my default directories or maybe have favorites. Would also be nice if it could auto sync with my watch (since I use it to transfer podcasts mostly). Otherwise it works great. Also, I was a little confused at first since it sets up a directory on the watch that looks just like my phone directory (storage/emulated/0). Took me bit to realize how to transfer and where to.

U70%
by U####:

I like this app... Fills a void unexplainably left by Google (the sync music function for Google Play Music doesn't work for music that I copied onto my phone's memory on my Sony SW3) so the developer deserves a lot of praise for filling this void... My only gripe with this app is the UI for android wear... It's ugly (in my opinion) and not as functional as it could be... If it was better designed I would pay for the premium version...

U70%
by U####:

So much better than Play Music Wear extension. I have not found any way with play music, to transfer particular songs instead a playlist must be downloaded. This app takes away the limitations that Play Music puts in place, watch is more useful win win.

F70%
by F####:

After some watch updates, I finally got an album sent to my SW3, though 10 tracks took about 45+ minutes. Now they won't play in track order even though they're tagged properly. And I need Playlist capability or the ability to do otf playlists. Fix the track order problem and I'll add stars. Also, support is unresponsive. Won't pay for an app if support isn't responsive.

U70%
by U####:

The app is good, It's one of the only ones next to google play to play offline music on your watch. It actually has more control than google play, allowing you to show your entire music list, but the transfer rates are much slower than google when putting music to your watch. After you ported all the music on your watch it's great, it's just very difficult to find the song you want to play. There's no search option or an A-Z filter list. There's also no way to choose to sort your music or albums. An A-Z filter list or a search would definitely make this app a 5/5.

U70%
by U####:

This is the best (maybe the only one) standalone music player for Android Wear with file transfer function. It's awesome! I only miss the EQ possibility for the sound because the music sounds pretty bad without it. :-(

U70%
by U####:

I wish that I didn't need this app and that there was a native way to do this. But I can't ever get G Play to transfer and this app makes transferring podcasts easy. I also would like a way to setup default directories or saved directories. Also the playback controls are little small, hard to use while jogging.

N70%
by N####:

This app is brilliantly balanced. It took care of transfers to android wear without any problems. Hope Google buy this app and somehow incorporate it into play music because play music Android wear management is rubbish

U70%
by U####:

This is the only app that I managed to use. Google music does not work. The only thing to disappoint is hanging while transferring files

U70%
by U####:

This is a million times better than Google Play but there are a few annoyances. Shuffle does not traverse folders, so put all of your music in one folder. Related, I learned this the hard way, so now i have to delete then reload everything. It would be nice just to cut and paste within the watch interface. It would also be nice to select more than one file at a time, which you can't do. Finally the "channel" transfer, which is supposed to reduce disk space used, disconnects frequently, so I just shut it off. Again still WAY better than Google Play!!!

U70%
by U####:

This was what I was looking for. As far as I can see there is no other app that lets you load your own mp3 and pictures on to the watch. Of course there are bugs but still, great app!

U70%
by U####:

It took me awhile but I moved almost 1 Gigabyte music from my phone to my watch so I could listen to it while I work out

X70%

Positives: I believe this app is the only one that keeps the place of audio tracks and allows you to adjust the position in them. This is important for longer audio tracks such as podcasts and audiobooks. Google Music seemed to lose the place constantly and there was no way to set the position in the track. Negatives: The play button, at least on my Polar M600, is either not very responsive or is too small to activate consistently. I find I have to push it multiple times to get the track started. When I did a factory reset of the watch, I had trouble reconnecting the phone app to the watch app and it reported there was no space left on the watch even though there was. I finally got it to reconnect by deleting and reloading the Wear Media app.

Songs can be added from your personal library without hassle!!! Take that, Google Music Play. I've had enough of you and there is nolonger a need to put up with your restriction of adding only songs from "Google Play" to the watch. Anything from my large pre-existing library can be added! Hurray Wear Media.

Finally someone has created a Media player for Wear that should have been done in the first place - upload and manage your files on your phone. Before the good stuff: the ads in the free version can be very obtrusive. But if you use it, the developer deserves the small fee. The UI for the media manager is OK but has no sort - really could use it. If you're transferring files, put them all in one folder and upload them. The UI is confusing but you can get it if you spent time to figure it out. There is a video on YouTube which demos the app. I am assuming you can ultimately delete the files from the phone but have only tested uploading and playing (basic controls, nothing special). Watch has play, pause, next, shuffle and a button to hit that puts out a - and + volume (should be on main screen.) No playlists I can see -- that's the negative. Having a difficult time arranging it to play a folder at random but hopefully will figure out a way to make it work. Improve on this slightly and it would be a major winner - but now only for the hardcore users.

You can transfer files with this app, and you can use it as a file explorer, it's great! However, the file transfer are pretty slow and USB ADB does beat it by a long shot. But, that's the only con I could find.
