Post Office Travel Essentials for Android
Potentially quite useful; BUT... Surely a conversion app which simply has to do basic multiplication and round the answer to two decimal places should be able to give accurate results every time! But no, not this one (or should that be one point zero six?). Quick and easy to use, if only it could be relied upon to tell the truth.
After tapping and swiping I still can't convert a currency
This app is completely unusable...Please insert a keypad option to simply type rather than that scroll thingy.
Scrolling doesn't work - hopeless.
I want to tell POSSIBLE that I will be using my card abroad. How?
It would be much more useful if you could type in the desired number when converting currency. The swipe is far too sensitive, thus making it difficult getting the correct number.
Wonderful idea with the quick scroll option for small sums but every time I try to get a conversion figure the result is different even though I have fixed the conversion rate. This makes the app totally useless at its job.
The swipe action on the quick exchange converter is unusable. Change it so we can just type the number rather than spending an age trying to get the correct number required.
Returns inconsistent answers when converting euros to sterling - up to 12% fluctuation when set at a fixed rate ! This is beyond useless and the Post Office needs to either withdraw or totally rewrite this app.
The swipe conversations is a great idea but the app is getting it's maths wrong and giving different values..post office if I were you I would be having a word with the developers
I like this app because it keeps track
travel cards
This would make a good game app, prize for the person to get a stipulated amount to show on the screen by scrolling. I tried to put in €5 using my fat fingers and closest I got was €13.78. Uninstalled it five minutes after it was installed.
The quick converter is not bad, at least for Euros. However, buying currency just launches the website on your browser, not even prefilling the amount and certainly not the streamlined experience I'd expect from an app.
Initially I thought this was brilliant - I really like the scrolling method of dialing in a price to convert. However, there's some funky aggregated calculations going on as if I select a price to convert (say €100), then dial away and dial back to that amount, the converted price is different (!!) Also needs with ability to type in number as for currencies with large rates scrolling takes ages just to increment a pound or two (try Chilean Pesos). This app could be so much better.
Did anyone bother testing this? Great way for The Post Office to damage it's brand.
Good app with some room for improvement.

Absolutely appalling App - cannot input a number because you can't tap on the zero next to the currency to be converted to get the screen keyboard up. Zero stars
Downloaded this manly for the currency converter. Good points you can set it to the exchange rate you received. But in use the swipe action is hyper sensitive. Diigicult to stop on a particular amount. Could adjust phone but woulf effect my other apps
Converter is too difficult to use. Swipe method is a nice concept, but not useful in practice as it takes too long to get to the value you want where the currency uses high denominations e.g. Czech.
Uninstalled this app in seconds. Swiping the amount is ridiculous...why can't we just type it in?
Won't let me enter currency decimal. Too fiddly. I have a manual one that works better from sainsbury.
This is a shocking app you have to swipe the screen to use currency converter....it doesn't work
OK its appreciated it may be just my phone (HTC One), but this is truly abysmal software. No decimal point for determining your own exchange rate. I can appreciate that Android apps tend to be a bit buggy, but this beyond the pale. It’s not obvious how to alter the amount shown to get the equivalent amount in sterling rate.
Locks up on start .
For getting good rates on the go
Not responsive, impossible to use with currencies that have large conversion factors, eg Japanese Yen, Madagasgan Arriay Useless and un-installed!
The way currency exchange inputted makes it difficult to input specific numbers

Huge download for such a small app. You can only get online rates, not in store rates and bizarrely the store locator simply redirects you to the post office website instead of offering the function in app.

Unable to get the correct amount. The amounts fluctuate with only the slightest touch of the screen never spot on. Uninstalled after 15 min.

Won't work on my Sony xperia
You can't enter a decimal point to set your own currency rate...
Almost impossible to get to the amount im after. Useless!
It's ok but you can't set up your own rate as there is no way to add the decimal point

Great idea, shame about the execution. Who ever thought sweeping to enter an amount to change was a good idea should be sent away. Give us a good old keyboard to enter the amount. The costing essentials is also a good idea but only if you are using the provided currencies. You cannot change to the actual currency you are in, even if it is supported by the converter.
