MK Explorer (File manager) for Android
I used to use cabinet file manager, but it just dropped off the face of the earth. So far this is the closest app that gets the job done. It's visually appealing and no hiccups.
I downloaded this app because the description said it could see my ext USB drive. I plugged my micro SDXC into my OTG USB and then the USB into my Android 6.0 and saw... nothing. My other app, File Commander, can see it and write to it, but not MK Explorer, so it's gone.
Love this app! Best file manager I've used. My only criticism (which is mostly my OCD) is that in the app drawer, it says File manager when it should be Manager with a capital M to match every label in the app drawer.
Since AOSPA 7.1.2 doesn't come with an file manager, I had to download one myself and this is probably the best one I've used. Ever. Minimal and beautiful but also stable and all the features I need, like an root option.
Looks and feels great. But there a two minor issues. 1. There is no option to see hidden files. 2. The vertical scroll bar on the right in file lists and the three dots against files overlap and it is almost impossible to press the three dots without scrolling unintentionally. These two need to be fixed.
One of the best simple material style file explorer with all basic explorer features. Not sure why developer is not pushing any more updates? Still will request to include the feature of linking cloud accounts and network drives.
First impressions: Logical, intuitive and instantly 'easy' to use. Some useful little features e.g. has a Windows 'right-click-for-info' kind of 'feel'/option for some things... which I like i.e. not too much on the screen at once i.e. not cluttered. ONLY just installed so need more playtime with it, but could be the alternative simple file manager I'm looking for.
It's great as it works without requesting crazy permissions and thus i feel more secure using this. I, however, request the developer to add more catagories apart from the present Downloads, Photos, Music, Movies like APKs and others. The root directory should also be hidden for the non-rooted users and something else and more useful should be shown there instead. Best of luck!
The popup window asking me to review the app popped up too early, so I had to decline it in the app and not review back then. But now I played with the app long enough and I LOVE it! It has everything (except cloud services, FTP, NAS, network, etc) I was looking for. You can even scale everything to your liking and that is great, since I like to see all I can on one screen. It also has dual panes, bookmarks, easy-to-use copying, moving and compressing file management. And maybe the best - it doesn't ask you for weird permissions or has ads. Awesome work, keep it up!
You just dont find great programs like this anymore, if you are here count yourself very lucky --the most awesome fm you will ever find. non intrusive design a huge plus! I could go on all day but why spoil it for you -- check it out! [and be pleasantly surprised]
Needs to show "Storage" on the menu on the left. Takes too long to get back to the top. Edit: I've found out that it's possible to add "Internal Storage" and "External Storage" to the menu by adding them to the bookmarks. However, there is no way of adding "Storage", i.e. the very top of the tree, to the menu. There also seems to be no way of rearranging my bookmarks (in terms of where they appear vertically). Also, it would be useful to have the full path visible along the top instead of having to scroll horizontally too see it fully (see Moto File Manager for this). Finally, could you please add the option to select items only by pressing and holding instead of by tapping the icon? I keep accidentally selecting folders when I want to open them.
I don't write reviews that often, but I loved this app too much to make it go unnoticed, it's just what I was looking for. My only advice to the developers is to fix the time dot in the video player, it fades out way too quickly. But other than that it's ad free, lightweight and has an awesome design, some well deserved 5 stars!
Simple and straightforward without any ads or bloat. Also has quite a few options, particularly appearance settings, which is great. Sadly, there is no LAN file sharing, which is a deal-breaker for me. Also missing a grid thumbnail view and a setting to require two back button presses to exit. Otherwise, it's a great app!
It would be a great file manager, if it could actually do what it was designed to do. Every time you try to access files on a SD card, it crashes the app. Every single time! So I'd doesn't work for files. And as that's its function, I give it three stars, and I'm being generous!
Now really!, what is there not to like ?. It has most of the things required of a file manager, and then some, and configuration options match my way of working. Theme support is just icing on the cake. Not looked at any of the IAPs yet (and have not actually seen any yet), but am seriously contemplating purchasing an IAP that closely matches buying the full or premium version, to support the developer as much as possible.
I really like this so far. It showed me files I didn't know we're left from apps I've deleted in the past. Other file manager didn't show them! I deleted my previous popular fine explorer because of its permissions requirements and ads.
I don't know what these people were up to..... But thx a lot and thumps up to MK Explorer. You made my life easier....I can scroll through my stuff with a lot of ease using your fabulous and intuitive interface. Keep up the good work. ????????????????????????????
Been searching for a file manager app to replace a certain bloated mESs, and here it is! Style, function, ease of use, and NO ADS OR BLOAT! So happy I found MK EXPLORER! I'm definitely donating, as should everyone who likes and wants to support an awesome product from a talented developer!
This is arguably the best file explorer on the playstore! Sure, there's Solid Explorer that has more things in it to be claimed better but to be just what a file explorer needs to be, this takes the title away from Solid. Comparing them might be odd for writing a review on this app but GODDAMN I can't.

Good, stable and logical, but not my thing, too simple and no dual panes (at least). I look for alternatives to the "big"names that got bloated and harder to use. MK is too simple. I cannot find where are the "two" panes to view files. I see only one pane, no other pane I can swipe to (for example, as in Solid) and copy/move files between them with 1 or two taps. Four stars only for not being my thing and being too simple for my taste.
Clean and smooth! Such a nice change over the others. Reminds me of solid explorer but better without the insane permissions that solid explorer has. Great work! Would really like to see a predefined dark theme -While it can be set manually it's a bit cumbersome. Highly recommend this app to anyone wanting a clean, simple and fast file browser. Donated. Keep up the awesome work!
Easy to use self explanatory and the permissions it uses are legit. Very configurable and the screen isn't covered with phishing ads. The donation thing isn't mandatory and we don't have to buy perks. Might donate a few bucks but here are some suggestions: Please make black an accent color and allow re-naming of files. Maybe zip filing and encryption too (I have no need to encrypt anything anyway). And the option to change the file shapes to things like a tree (I did that on my computer) I appreciate it! ;)
This is without a doubt the most reliable file explorer/manager available. The design of it is simple, the responses are smooth, and the functionality is something to respect. However, it does have issues recognizing certain files as even a file at all, often hiding file formats that are more PC oriented. Although not a big deal, just figured I'd point it out.
I've tried a number of file managers and this is the first that a) maintains the structure of the folder hierarchy I've created (I organize my music folders according to genre and then artist and then album) and also b) starts playing through the music simply my clicking the first song. Other file managers required me to select all and then press play which is very cumbersome. The embedded music player is also very nice. So, for my purposes this is absolutely the best!
Significantly better than the stock one AND NO ADS. It does almost all the things I need it to. It didn't get 5 stars because I still need the other one to do some things that this one doesn't. For instance, moving everything in a folder is easier in the stock one. But renaming is easier with this one. There's a couple other things like this but in general I like this one a lot better.
The ability to shuffle music within a certain folder only (without having to manually create playlists that duplicate the organization I've already done). You have no idea how long I've been looking for something that does this.
No network connectivity, no ads only inapp purchases. This makes sure that your customers who WANT to extend functionality buy your services as opposed to people who simply need a non intrusive file browser. This is the best one I've seen and I've tried all the top level providers. Excellent job
I rarely rate apps, but if I rate one of them it means that they deserve it; and you guys are one of them. Love the fact that it's so smooth and fast. And I also think that it's the only file manager without ads which makes it really easy to use. More power to you all !
Themes would be a major improvement over selecting multiple colors options for each section. Tiresome. Multiple tabs would help with moving, copying files. Currently you have to navigate repeatedly over the tree when moving multiple files to different destinations from the same source.

Shortcuts of images dont open. [Shortcuts of images created on the android home screen by selecting "create shortcut" within your app. When i tap the shortcut it opens the image viewer with no photo ive also tried with mk gallery but still didnt work] and folders dont refresh after renaming or creating files
Build in text editer slow, problem with 1M files, no autodetect encoding, no way to adjust encoding. Can not remember file association after restart the app. Think about how many people depend on buildin player to watch videos, edit files? Maybe a light version with cloud and enhanced file association would be great.
In search option, when we click to result it leads to the possible folder.. if wrong one selected, back key doesn't lead to search result.. Thats why to search right result, again I have to go through search process.. So make it easier.. It would be better if you add suggestion in search option. :D
Switched from ES, Thank you developer, i must recommend donating to this developer other than buying paid file managers, this one got em all!! i can't thank enoughh, Best file manager ever! <3
I solved that problem(it is selection of correct path of sd card). I have another problem in this app -serching is difficult in this app(after writing all letters of files it makes to show ) I want, if 1 letter we can write it can show all files of in this letter before search button press. I Hope you can understand my problem.
It took me ,a testing a few apps, just to get removing files into my tablet done. This application is very nice and simple with minimalistic but right the way it should be interface. Thank you, developer !
How did I not see this file manager? Been using es file explorer for years, which has really been annoying me lately, so thought I'd see if any alternatives. Very happy I looked, because this file explorer is SO much better.
After trying many File Manager programs this is by far the best. It not only has an easy to use interface, but it especially excells in moving and deleting large directories and files.

Above everything, its has a clean interface - in fact the cleanest I've ever used; love it! But the fact that it lacks LAN/ SMB capabilities prevents me from using it in place of apps such as solid file explorer
