Colorful alarm (Alarm clock) for Android
Colorful Alarm is the ultimate alarm in the Android Market, fully configurable, with three steps to make your wake up easy and let you start the day in a good mood. First, it will start with the light step, lighning the room with a color of your choice (or dynamic colors), then it will ring a relaxing sound, a forest in the morning, waves of the ocean, or any other of your choice. After a while (a time that you can configure), a song that you have previously selected will wake up you in case you are still sleeping.
Perfect alarm if you want to start the day smoothly, without the roughness of typical alarms or standard songs, or in the case you want to wake up and let your partner keep dreaming.
The options you have:
- Shake to stop function.
- Ilimitated alarms for weekly alarms.
- Ilimitated alarms for one day alarms.
- Dynamic colors at the light step.
- Give a name to the alarms.
- Independent vibration for each step.
- Different strenght of vibration.
- Crecent (fast or slow) or constant starts for sound and music
- Step duration editable.
- Snooze function with number of repetitions and time between them.
- Notification to stop the snooze.
- You can adjust the sensitivity and the time of the shake to stop function.
- Notification of the next alarm.
- Time until the activated alarm will ring.
- Test mode to test your configuration.
- Clock on the wake up screen.
If there is any problem, please, send an email with the problem to parallelcube@gmail.com and I will fix it as soon as possible. Thank you!
Tested and working on:
Samsung Galaxy S
Nexus One
ZTE Blade
HTC Magic
HTC Hero
HTC Desire
Permissions explanation:
android.permission.DISABLE_KEYGUARD: To be able to stop the alarm even when the phone is locked.
android.permission.READ_PHONE_STATE: This is to avoid the alarm ring then you are in a call and to stop the alarm if you recive a call while the alarm is ringing.
android.permission.RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED: To set the alarms again after the telephone is rebooted.
android.permission.WAKE_LOCK: To wake up the phone when is sleeping if an alarm is set up at that time.
android.permission.VIBRATE: You can configure different modes of vibration, so is obvious I need this permission.
android.permission.INTERNET: There is a donations system (totally voluntary) that needs to have internet access.
android.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: Same as internet permission.
com.android.vending.BILLING: Permission added to include the possibility for you to make donations through google check out
But it won't open up I installed it and then when I press the button it wouldn't light up thank you
Lots of setting options & very reliable!!!
Only worked the 1st time then wouldn't make a sound just vibrated. Tried every setting possible. How hard would it be to make a simple alarm clock? Over thinking something this simple, people should be fired
It's never not gone off and it runs in the background n with the screen off... As advertised, love it
Hate it
I like the three way wake-up - light, gentle sound, music track - however the main function of an alarm clock is waking me up. Colorful alarm occasionally does not ring, even though the notification says it will

Determining how to change settings and even set the alarm were not at all intuitive. Not helpful when all you want to do is crash and wake up refreshed for the next hard day at work. Terrible app.
Doesn't take much to wake me, usually, and loud alarms are a rude awakening I've had to endure all my life. Colorful Alarm gives me lots of options including music that I choose. Allows you to create custom alarms for different circumstances (at home, travel ...). Good stuff.
We use it as an "okay to wake" clock when we're traveling with our kids.
This app is great - I used it for the first time this morning, and it really was so much more peaceful than waking up to an alarm. I had originally suggested a Dawn Simulator feature but I found and figured out the incremental color option this morning, and I believe it will suit my needs. So I am changing my suggestions to: 1. Better Documentation so that people can easily figure out how each option works and what they do. 2. Second Phase screen to keep the last color displayed at the highest intensity 3. Perhaps a built in Sunrise Colors preset? 4. Long Press or multidirectional slider for the Stop Alarm. I have difficulty turning the alarm off. I don't know if it is my device or not Intuitively I wanted to longpress it though. Still - besides the minor tweaks - I find this app to be amazing, well thought out and it has definitely made my quality of life better. Thank you so much!!
As the last commenter said, keeping the final color from phase 1 on for the duration of the rest of the phases... Then it'd be perfect! Are you still updating this app?
Stop alarm button doesn't work, keeps on playing the alarm whilst there is no way to access alarm other than by force closing app. Also, would like to disable shake to stop. App crashes when testing shake to stop. Don't like the flashing light, how about gradually becoming lighter, like a sunrise? Otherwise promising. - note 2, 4.3
Too much trial and error required to get the light/sound right. I give up.
Where's the AM/PM choice?
I really want to like this alarm. The options for a gentle wake up are great, but the alarm itself is unreliable. Sometimes the alarm doesn't go off; sometimes the snooze fails. The moment these bugs are fixed, I will be an ardent fan.
Best of 4 other alarm apps (been using for a week). My Philips Wakeup Light died after two years so I decided to see if there was a alarm app that was similar (as to create light in the room=simulate sunrise). ). This alarm did it for me (but does require a few tweaks). 1. Needs to be a option to keep the light on throughout the sound effect and music. 2. Can you add Orange color to the light options=Sun color? 3. Gradual light increase. Simulate sunrise (dark to bright over the time selected)
but I am having problems with it. When trying to personalize the sound, I select an mp3 file and it says "Unsupported file". My other alarm apps do not have such a problem. I can imagine that this is not necessarily Colorful Alarm's fault but some other app may be causing a conflict, but I'm not sure why Colorful Alarm is the only alarm app being affected. Currently running CyanogenMod 10.2 on Sony Xperia Mini.
Just needs the option to keep the light on when the sound starts rather than reverting to a black screen with the time on.
There's always room for improvement but this alarm app met my needs best out of several.
Since I use this alarm on my tablet and I prefer using my tablet in landscape mode, any chance in supporting landscape mode?
Good to wake up without stress.
Omg
Awesomenesss!!
I was expecting the light turn on slowly over time. Except what really happened with that the light turned on immediately and I don't see a setting to have the screen slowly brighten. My search for a good wake up light app continues.
I love this
I love this
I love the app... This is my ideal alarm clock app. As I am a believer in waking up at the right point in the sleep cycle, I've set this up so that the "sound configuration" plays my desired wake-up tune, at a constant volume, but at a very low constant volume, like around 20%. The theory is if I am not ready to wake up yet, I won't hear it. And in fact, although I normally hear it, there have been times when I've slept right through it. For the music configuration, I've picked the same wake-up tune, but with very gradual increasing volume. I don't want to be jolted out of bed, but just gradually awaken. The new UI for picking the time is great. Just one slight suggestion. When scrolling the minutes backwards from 00 -> 59 or forwards from 59 -> 00, it would be nice if the hour could automatically decrease or increase by 1. Thanks for the best alarm app!
Almost perfect Just needs the option to keep the light on when the sound starts rather than reverting to a black screen with the time on.
Wake up light not very good I was expecting the light turn on slowly over time. Except what really happened with that the light turned on immediately and I don't see a setting to have the screen slowly brighten. My search for a good wake up light app continues.
4.5 stars There's always room for improvement but this alarm app met my needs best out of several.
