About WiFi Prioritizer

WiFi Prioritizer aims to solve a simple problem by attempting to automatically reconnect to a higher priority wireless network when it comes in range while still being connected to a lower priority wireless network.

Simply drag the networks in the desired sequence and the app will take care of the rest. The default values are pulled from what's set in the system WifiManager. Android will honor those priorities only when it's establishing a fresh WiFi connection. So to help the system WiFi Prioritizer will also update those priorities (if the option is enabled) when you re-order the networks.

I wrote this application for my personal use but figured that if I have this problem, then surely there are other people out there with the same problem.

***NOTICE***
With Android 6.0 it seems the permission to access available access points was included in the location permission group. With version 2.0.6+ I needed add the ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION permission for the application to work.

NB. Make sure your WIFI sleep policy is set to ALWAYS (Under WIFI settings -> Advanced settings) to avoid unnecessary connect/reconnect when the "Enabling WIFI at start of refresh" option is enabled.

Been using this app for a while now and it does work. I find by selecting the 2 wifi connections that I want to use at home and leaving the others not selected the app will select these when at home, when I am not at home it will search for something else. Sometimes a bit slow when starting but saves me from wrong connection. You do not need to tick all the connections.

by B####:

Well, i was hoping the app would be more flexible. Sure, the swaps to wifi with higher priority works, but the other way around does not. So if you have 10% on wifi 1 and 90% on wifi 2 the app would still keep you connected to worse connection (1) because it has higher priority. So u need to change it manually... which was the whole point i was looking for priority and connection level wifi changer. Thus i'm uninstalling, not usefull for me.

by A####:

dont understand the low rate comments as with the settings you can achieve it all. May be its because initial settings are not optimal. I tried several other apps. this works. it would be nice if it would enable Wi-Fi based on location.

N70%
by N####:

I saw some negative reviews of people having the same issue as me "xfinity wifi autoconnection over in home wifi". Everyone who had the same problem as me said this app didnt help them at all, but so far its solved the problem for me, so id definitely recommend it.

U70%
by U####:

Completely useless, especially on lost signal. Won't switch back to the clearly stronger WiFi signal. Once lost connection, won't recognize anything from its list. Any WiFi, just won't connect again. Useless.

U70%
by U####:

This might be the last in my collection of wifi apps that I needed to complete my collection. When I'm at work I only want 1 specific connection, no matter what. I set 0% and 100% and it seems to reconnect me when WiFi is dropped, rather than constantly sitting disconnected with "open WiFi available".

U70%
by U####:

But, like all the other apps I tried, this doesn't do it either. I have the same thing happen- shortly after setting it up I see the wifi start switching and next thing I'm seeing is 'connected to xfinity wifi'. Just now I watched my phone connect and disconnect from 3 of my 4 home networks and again end up on xfinitu wifi which is everywhere out here.

I use this to switch between mobile wifi from another device I take with me and stationary wifi. All I need to do is activate mobile wifi on the other device and drive away. This switches me to the mobile wifi when I get out of range of the stationary wifi network. Then when I get home it switches to that automatically and the mobile wifi disables itself.

G70%
by G####:

Keeps disconnecting from decent mobile network to WiFi even when the signal is weak. Would be fine but half these networks require a login, which effectively means you have lost internet connection.

I do a lot of IT work and this app is great at keeping me connected to my clients wifi over public wifi connections that are also available in the same general areas. I'm no longer having to manually switch over.

G70%
by G####:

It does what it says but could be a lot better. Firstly it's super slow to load. Hangs on loading. Secondly, for some reason app displays currently available networks at the very bottom of the list. This should be arranged other way around. Thirdly, if your phone has connected to dozens, or more than a hundred of other networks, like mine, than it gets pretty difficult to find and move networks one actually wants. There should be a filter or search function implemented. Fourthly, there should be a functionality that allows for all networks to be deselected. Can't expect users to deselect couple of hundred networks manually.

It's common sense to have this feature built in system. Since there is no such thing, I hoped that this app would help me to switch networks, sadly it doesn't work.

Q70%
by Q####:

Great app. Simple to use. Works as intended. I work in IT and will be recommending this to customers with multiple wifi networks at home who have a desired wifi network like myself they wish to connect to. Great job guys, keep up the good work.

by Q####:

It used to work perfectly on Lollipop. On Nougat, it somehow sometimes doesn't recognise the networks it has in memory.

S70%
by S####:

This app is so perfect that I would even pay for it. I have a 5Ghz connection on the first floor but it doesn't reach the second floor. So Andoid connects me to the 2Ghz signal, but when I go back to the first floor, Android simply doesn't go back to 5Ghz. BUT with this amazing app Android now switch back to the 5Ghz every time I reach the first floor again where the signal exists! Thank you very much!

I've had this for a few days and it does exactly what I want after fine tuning connection settings. It keeps me signed on to my faster 5 gig network when I'm closer to the router and automatically switches to the stronger but slower 2.4 when I get out of range. Then it automatically switches back to the 5 gig again when in range. I only use this in my home.

K70%
by K####:

I love this app. It does exactly what it says it does. No more connecting to xfinity when I'm home, it switches me to my home wifi every time!

U70%
by U####:

I always disliked my phone switching access points. Now it stays put where I want it.

L70%
by L####:

Keeps switching between two strong signals regardless of priority, along with dropping the connection whether and making Wi-Fi unusable

U70%
by U####:

Very rarely worked on my Samsung Galaxy S7. There's a strong difference between WiFi signals in two different rooms and this app never managed to switch between them.

U70%
by U####:

Didn't work for me. I setup one priority and wifi wasn't changing to the priority wifi when it was even stronger than other ones. Useless.

U70%
by U####:

Doesn't work when running in background. So basically useless. Android M/Samsung Note 4.

E70%
by E####:

Awesome app, but check internet connectivity not working. Should disconnect from a network with no internet then go to next available network even if it has lower priority. Does not do this.

D70%
by D####:

Have this app on all my Android devices. It keeps them from connecting to XfinityWifi while im at home

U70%
by U####:

It does exactly what it is supposed to. Ensure my phone connects to my network (when available) rather than xfinitywifi.

Doesn't do anything. Never switched, on off priority, didn't matter.

U70%

You just arrange your networks and you're set; very reliable.

Y70%

This app was good.... now it doesn't seem to do what I want it to do.

K70%

Doesn't work quick enough or at all and 9n in the background all the time

J70%

Big fan and use this faultlessly on all my devices.

M70%
by M####:

No matter where in the list I put Xfinity Wi-Fi hotspot it still connects even over my in home Wi-Fi, I only use the Xfinity Wi-Fi hotspot outside the home! Well that's my attention anyhow, but not with this app!

M70%
by M####:

Very simply designed and easy to use. It has all necessary settings to prioritize your wifi hot spots and it works. Thank you.

Great app which replace a feature which has been completely forgotten in MIUI v8... Logs are located in sdcard0/Android/data/org.za.flash.wifiprioritizer/logs You can also use the About > Send Log.
