About 1000 Books Before Kindergarten
A free app that makes keeping track of your child's reading both easy and fun!
The 1000 Books before Kindergarten reading program encourages parents and caregivers to read to children ages five and under. The goal of reading 1,000 books before kindergarten is to provide your child the learning readiness skills needed to enter kindergarten. It may sound like a daunting task, but if you read just three books every day, at the end of one year you will have read 1,095 books.
This app makes keeping track of the books both easy and fun.
*Anyone who reads to your child can easily track books by using the scanner on their mobile device to populate the list (simply scan the UPC code on the back of the book)
*Titles read multiple times are allowed and can be scanned in multiple times
*Titles that aren't found by scanning can be manually typed into the list
*Get reading tips when you log in
*Up to 5 children can be added to one account, each with a separate reading list. (If you have more than 5 children under the age of 5, you can add another account.)
*Unlock "rewards" within the app when your child reaches specific numbers of books.
*Check with your local library for possible additional fun rewards along the way and proudly show them your list once you've reached 1000 books!

Wondering what I can do to get my camera to connect. When I try to scan something it comes up saying that my device is not allowing it? I looked through all my settings and found nothing to allow it access. My boys are in the library program through the Frederic library and when it takes more than 5 minutes to enter a books info, I can spend up to an hour a night just doing so.

The app never connected to my camera so books could be scanned. Moreover I was only able to use it once before trying to add a book took over 5 minutes. For me this is not worth wasting my time, although I believe this app is a good start.

Scanner doesn't find so many very common books. And I have to add books multiple times so app reflects that each child read the book. Other app has a library which is nice. Needs a much bigger database....

The scanner has worked for maybe 1 book out of 20 and once I take the time to put all the information in to add a book, it won't let me add it again. Everyone I try to use the re-add button it says error. Also, it will scan when I'm not trying to scan a book.

We love using this app as a book journal for everything we read to our daughter. It's easy and simple to use. I'm disappointed that the last update lost almost half the books from our list - is there any hope of recovering them? Suggestions for future versions would be to connect to other book databases so now titles can be scanned and found. I'd also like a feature to be able to back date books read at an earlier date than when I'm entering them.

I was very excited to download and use this app but when I tried to sign up as a new user it didn't recognize my zip code or any of my local libraries. I might be able to understand this if I lived in rural Montana or something but I'm an hour north of Philadelphia.

We use this daily. It is easy to use. I would like a way to highlight or star books that we really enjoyed! CONS: The app glitches nearly daily. Upon the newest update, my son's book list was entirely deleted. That sucks!

This is a very useful tool, and can be much easier than tracking books manually. Unfortunately, about half of the books we read our kids are not recognized by the scanner. Adding a book manually should add it to the library database and/or you should be able to add a book from the list of previously read books so you don't have to input all of the info every time.

A lot of the books don't scan. PLEASE FIX! 325 BOOKS are hard to enter by hand and that's just this last 6 months! :( We're now at 450 books! Great to hear y'all are working on the problem!

Nice interface and easy to use. I would like a feature to edit the date the book was read on so I could add books I read previously with my son. Having that feature would make this app perfect and it makes a great journal to look back on.

I tried the other 1000 books app and it crashes constantly. Most of the other Milwaukee libraries recommend that one. Mine recommends yours and it has more stars on Google play, so I'm trying it. I'm scanning a bunch of books that your app wants me to enter manually. Guess How Much I Love You is not an obscure book, but I'd have to enter it manually.
