Illuminations: a uu app for Android
If the UUA wanted to make an app for UUs, I wish they would have integrated some more meaningful content, such as articles from UU World, or even a "find nearby churches" feature. As it stands, it feels like a few things were pulled together just so we'd have an app.
On my older phone the app worked better. With my new one, cannot find Settings to make adjustments. Also, I agree with the many comments for an updated version with new readings and a UU location finder.
This was developed for an earlier Android than 6.0 so lacks the "..." button to access the menu. On newer devices, the left context menu button is gone, but this app lacks its own menu button, so there is no way to access the menu or settings. I really hope for an update, which would make it a 5 star app.
I love this app, but I can't find the settings link in the app. I only have the default chalice available to me. I can't turn off timely words. I do love it, but would love more if I could control the settings a bit. Thanks!!
Kinda sad. No way to get to settings.Needs to be updated desperately. Has potential but seems that no one is actually paying attention to it.
I've had this on my phone and tablet for a while now and am disappointed with the lack of updates. This has the potential to be a great repository - if only it were updated regularly with new content. Very sad that it hasn't been updated since 2012 - how does Unitarianism expect to appeal to youth if it can't get the medium used by younger people right? Edit 02/17: This app is even less functional now due to lack of updates as my new phone does not support settings menus that require holding the 'Recent Items' button - an issue with a few older apps.
I uninstalled because I cannot access the settings or any kind of menu. Hope you update like people have been asking for over a year, apparently...
I like the concept, but the blow to extinguish function does not work on my phone.
I really love this app. Updated readings would make it better. I've encountered some glitches with the daily part of the app - I'd get the same one for weeks on end - but it may have been my phone.
I'm new to U.U. and this app. So as I keep working with it I'll raise the score. One thing I was slightly disappointed in, in the inspirational words there is a collection for Mother's Day but not one for Father's Day.
If a user uses the app, an unsolicited meditation appears in the menu bar each day for two or three days after each use. The meditation has to be clicked through to in order to remove it. I feel repulsed by the app's attempt to assert a continuous place in my life instead of being at my beck and call, as an app should be - especially since it's a UU app. Feels too door-to-door creepy to me. Otherwise a great app, but fails to meet baseline expectation of non-advertiser, non-evangelistic behaviour.

I was looking for a chalice light for my phone. It's ok, but there is no way to change appearance or settings on my android phone. If I get flooded with daily words as other reviewers mentioned, I will uninstall.
Problem With designating favorites.
It's all right as far as a basic chalice tool. Needs some work. Where is the settings feature?
I still like this program and use it every day. Hoping for updated links since the UUA website upgrade.
Great app, but could use an update.
Very good but I've read and reread these words several times. I would love for it to be updated in 2016.
I love the search feature for the prayers and the ability to light a chalice through the app. Does anyone know how to add prayers to their favorites?
I like the readings and having the chalice. But I feel like it should be updated with more prayers and more features. When is the next update?
I use this ap daily! I'd love new material too, and more for personal use versus church/group use. Great ap!
Useful when you are searching for inspirational quotes and thought starters for meetings
The app functions very well, but the Inspirational Words should be updated, and it needs a feature to keep the phone from sleeping when the chalice is lit.
The best UU app I've ever got.
There is no where I can find to access the settings menu on my Galaxy S5. I have seen screenshots of the iOS version, and it should be at the bottom of the main page, but it isn't there on mine. Please fix.

No longer have to hunt for a chalice and lighter.
This app provides convenient access to content that's available on the UUA website. The chalice is cute, too. However, it seems that the daily words of inspiration are the same selection EVERY DAY. The app hasn't been updated in forever, so it seems that it's been abandoned. UPDATE PLEASE!
No way to turn off notifications on a Galaxy S5. When that is fixed, I will reinstall.
Very complete for nearly any occasion.
I find myself searching this app for ideas for all ocassions.
It has great info, but the daily readings are broken, I get the same one everyday.
Great!
Love having this when I need something say to begin a gathering of any type where mindfulness is helpful.
Lots of great content and cool features. The chalice lighter is magical!
This app will not on my Android tablet for some reason.
It's a great app, though the daily inspiration part doesn't work. You guys should make more UU apps.
Thanks for this great UU app!

This comes in handy whenever I need to lead the prayer or offer opening/closing words for an event. I am always able to find a reading that fits the occasion. It seems like a lot of readings are from 1997, however. I'd like some more recent ones. A bio on the authors would be nice too. I'm relatively new to UUism and haven't heard of any of the authors.
