TriMet Tickets for Android
Poor design, slow, unintuitive, always crashes at the worst times. It works but not well. The ux is just too hard- it needs to be easier to use with one hand, in the rain as you climb onto the bus but this app always leaves me fumbling in line
I am docking my rating another star because the developers of this app are not making any improvements! All I want to do is show the bus driver my ticket, but s/he and I are very annoyed by all of the synching and reloading. Bus drivers have a schedule to keep. I already bought the ticket. If I wasn't doing other things, I'd turn off my data and let the ticket sit on my phone. Apparently, communicating with Tri-met servers is a real drag. Why all the synching? Speed it up already!!!
Can't buy tickets. Keeps saying "CERT_UNTRUSTED" - Ive reset my phone, tried to add new payment methods, all the things I can think of. The reliability of this app is unacceptable.
Exactly as others said, I got repeated error messages when trying to purchase, including "no connection to trimet server" errors. Tried three times, failed three times. No tickets were visible in the app. I even took screen shots to capture some of the more interesting error messages. Looked at email and saw three RECEIPTS for three purchases. Rebooted phone and lo and behold, the tickets were there (three times as many as I wanted). The programmers and their overlords are untrustworthy. They'll probably lose our credit card numbers next. Don't use this app without extreme care.
After downloading and trying to purchase tickets, the app said the purchase didn't go through. So I tried again and it said it didn't go through again. I went through this 4 times before it finally tells me it went through. I checked my bank account later and found out that each time I clicked on buy tickets it actually did go through. And with the $5 purchase minimum, I ended up spending ALOT more money than I intended. Frustrating... I'd rather just use cash
Terrible app. Trimet, please fire this two bit developer and hire someone competent to put together a proper tool. The ludicrous legal terms you need to agree to when launching this app, including really sleazy data sharing clauses that sidestep Google's privacy warnings, show this was designed by the dregs of the app design world. This app just makes the really great Trimet service look extremely unprofessional. I bet Portland's open source community could put together a much better tool in a week. Trimet, you just need to ask. Let's go Oregon!
Honestly no issues. I have no clue why there are so many bad reviews. I buy my tickets, they load within 4 seconds after opening and it's good. Been using the app for 5 months
A lot of the bad ratings are for much older versions. I've only experienced issues once since I've started using it, and Trimet mailed me (and others) direct apologies, and the app was fixed promptly. It's one of those things that people only notice and complain when there are issues... Also, a variety of complaints aren't even related to the app, like "bus drove past, one star omg"
Awesome! How many cities have mobile bus tickets! Super easy to use. Even saw a couple probably in their 90's use it. Never had any crashes or problems of any sort.
The careless cram of mass transit, wow! Is there even a little ai in this?
One complaint: $5 min purchase. Trimet fares are half that. Other than that, great app. Works without a hitch on my Pixel.
Unable to purchase tickets. When entering my payment information the keyboard input wasn't getting entered into the text fields, so I was unable to complete the purchase.
I just lost my purchased ticket for $50 bacause of the new version of the app! Can I get my money back? It's not my fault that your app developers suck.
How stupid...you can buy a $2.50 ticket for 2.5 hrs on this app, but it MAKES you put $5 worth of fare in your cart. Stupidest thing I've ever heard of. UNINSTALLED.
Unable to complete ticket purchase without an account. Purchase button remains grayed out after you fill the payment page.
As im validating a ticket on the platform I get a fine. Im not even riding the max yet!
Thank you for fixing the glitches.
Dose what it's supposed to do. Can't ask for more.
Easier than carrying cash
Awesome!
Simple and works
Works okay. Glad it runs on Android Nougat now. But please make these three improvements: 1) Display my active ticket immediately upon app startup. I rarely need the app for anything else while the ticket is active. 2) Get rid of the "syncing..." dialog. It shouldn't need to sync because my active ticket is stored offline. 3) Let me set a default rider type, to help streamline ticket purchases.
Does what it's supposed to, but launching the app takes a stupidly long time (~10 seconds) to "sync" before a ticket can be selected or displayed. I only use this app when I absolutely must; paper tickets have none of these problems. Also, I could care less about RideTap. Focus on improving core functionality and UX, not niche feature-creep minutiae like this.
Since last update it sucks use transit tracker and it takes you to a web page was better in app...if I wanted to be redirected I'd use the internet in the first place. Trip planner is unreliable and usually offers the most absurd and indirect routes. Better off calling a live person during the week.
Every time I go to make a payment it will say that my card has been declined. Even though I know my card has money in the bank to back it up. Every time it does this, even with saved cards.
I only usually buy the hard copy bus passes, but this morning I was running late and had not yet purchased my month pass as I usually do. I downloaded the app in attempt to get a youth day pass, just one, I don't need anymore. Apparently you cannot make a purchase under $5. I am sorry, but I refuse to pay $5 for a $2.50 bus pass. I have to option to purchase a pack of 1 day passes, but I will never use them and it would be a huge waste of money. So no trimet, I will not be giving you free money.
I like this for when I've forgotten my wallet but not my phone. I just wish I could transfer the monthly pass I always buy through work into this app. Sure I can get the monthly pass through this directly but at work its prepaid and delivered early.
Problems I have had before have been fixed. Sometimes tickets won't show up but a quick force close of the app does the trick. Easy to purchase Trimet tickets.
My old phone was factory reset with tickets still on it so I sent them a note about it and they helped me recover them within the same day. The long sync time problem people are having can be avoided by switching your internet off since this app works offline just fine.
The app works but has never been ideal. Various bugs and Android upgrade issues. And a safety light feature, really? Get your app working first before you waste time on gimmicks.
The previous version worked just fine and the interface was nice. Really dislike the new layout. It's boring. I don't see any updated features.
The UI is smooth. Tickets are handled in-app, other functions are handled with a link to the TriMet website. One star deduction for not updating to support Android N until after it began rolling out to some devices. Developer was quick to respond to my email and the update to make it functional is now live, but considering many people rely on this app to make their daily commute it should have been made ready before N went live; that's what the developer previews exist for.
Works with Nougat again, hooray! The retrieve tickets feature is great; much easier than past ticket retrieval. I even got tickets back that I'd lost before my last phone change. Along with the ticket retrieval function, the app now remembers your payment information when you change phones.
The latest version of this app is not good. It keeps saying my CC is denied with no good reason. And now it only stores tickets. If you want to use any other trip tools it just takes you to their website.
Pretty bad. Needs Google login, because making new accounts sucks. Needs Android Pay, Samsung Pay, or some IAP support because entering credit card information sucks.
I think it's stupid how it doesn't let me buy a 2.5 hour ticket. I literally have to spend $5 in order to proceed checkout.
The issues with Android 7.0 (Nougat) have been fixed. Hooray!
I've been sitting here for half an hour, missed two busses because my app/tickets won't load. Get your crap together!
Can't justify the permissions for a buggy app.

Duplicate transaction bug! I tried to make a large purchase of 8 tickets. I clicked the button once. Apparently due to network issues the transaction was processed 3 times, so I ended up being charged $60 instead of $20. Customer service was terrible and told me tickets are nonrefundable and they I shouldn't have clicked the button more than once. Your app should be robust enough that flaky network doesn't result in duplicate transactions when clicking the button only once! Otherwise fine, but highly don't recommend due to this egregious bug and lack of customer service.
