LA Metro Transit Watch for Android
I like this, i think its a great idea.
PLEASE DISABLE AUTO FLASH! HOW ARE WE SUPPOSED TO CATCH SOMEONE IN THE ACT WITH AUTOFLASH ENABLED SMH!
As a reporting tool to LA Sheriff's Department, seems pretty good. But the interface can be confusing and even the "picture taking" has "auto-flash" enabled, easy not to realize that. Lots of jargon. The vast majority of "Metro" issues are not terrorist related AND if they were and someone thought it might be that suspicious, they're probably going to call. Limited utility, moderate execution, some elements of a confusing interface - maybe it will improve with time.
This app appears to be abandoned by the developer. Extremely dated material and constantly crashes. I have no confidence that any incident report would actually go to anyone.
1. Too bad there is no WiFI on the trains. 2. Red Line incident - 8 months ago, a young black man (Guess is Ethiopian) was rubbing his privates on two blacks girls that were sitting down. They were scared off and moved seats. Then on the Santa Monica/Vermont stop, he got on the escalator up with his pants down showing his rear. Im sure he's still up to no good. 3. Red Line incident - I also witness a black man physically assault a woman and then apologize to her after he calmed down. It's cases like this where this app comes in handy. It's just too bad there is no immediate way of communicating. On a side note, glad the app has the Metro routes.
Definitely in need of improvement. Very temperamental and crashes. Reporting an incident takes awhile to submit. Wish it had camera zoom.
Does not work. Takes forever to sumit an incident report and even then it never alows you to sumit it. It'll be faster to call the sheriff department
Piece of crap. 4 bars of 4G and it can't connect to the internet. At home on my wifi and it can't connect to the internet. Useless.
The first time I used the app the sheriff's dept were very quick and responsive, but the female dispatcher got upset with me for not dialing 911. Yeah, I'm going to place a call right in front of the perps and talk when they're close enough to hear me. She's crazy if I was going to call 911 and make myself a victim.
It might help for LA Metro to provide some guidance as to what events are expected to be reported through this app. For example; if vandalism such as graffiti is witnessed while it is occurring, should that be reported? What is the expectation of response from LA Metro? What is the expectation from the user regarding their safety? Where do these questions get addressed?
I really don't know what the other reader was talking about when the review this for less than a perfect score. I tried it this morning at Union Station I tried it last night in the valley and I tried it just now on the west side and every time it worked perfectly. The safety of my family is everything to me and knowing that we might stop something serious before it happens is a huge benefit to all of us. we have 5 Android phones in my family and it worked on all 5 great job keep up the good work!
This is the perfect app to use to report the Sheriff's Deputies for parking in red zones at Metro stations so they can ride the rails and repeatedly harass paying customers for their tickets. Plus it allows me to upload photo evidence of it! I can't see it helping with real crime, but as long as they harass me I'm going to give it right back.
I really like the concept but interface is wonkly and not intuitive. Response times are a bit slow. Can be frustrating when youre stuck on a train with people that are acting out.
Whichever contractor was tasked with making this app must have taken the money and ran. It crashes constantly. I've been in several situations that required either security or maintenance, but this app crashes every time.
Won't even open
Good idea but app doesn't function correctly
Metro watch app is just a joke don't bother wasting your time
The app will become useful once it's features begin to actually work. The alerts do not link with Twitter at this time and of course the lack of Wi-Fi in tunnels is a issue (not app developers fault) Metro's dispatch needs a text message interface instead.
Want to see if it can actually do everything it says it could do. And I am also interested if it's just information for them or will they actually respond to an incident quickly and accurately! Because I always encounter violent drunks at bus stops.
This app is to do the job for the government employees who get paid way more then these metro drivers who hate there job!
Make it available for windows phones
I reported a few things and no reply

Would be better if it allowed user to upload image from gallery. User can not be very inconspicuous in reporting when flash on is built into app.
Its a good concept but the response time its too slow!

I feel so much safer that I can immediately report any potential problems with Metro just using my phone. I often use public transportation in the evening and this is so handy. I just tried it and it works like a charm! Thanks for empowering us Metro riders.

I made a report about loud obnoxious gambling going on, on my train today and in less than 5 stops the transit authority stopped my train briefly to investigate. I gave the car number and they came right by me. They didn't catch the gambler, who came on the train originally to sell water bottles but I was surprised by the speedy turn around time.
Good idea but app doesn't function correctly
App seems to function fine on my old moto photon 4g 2.3.5 so I don't get what all the fuss is about?
Runs perfect on my S3. Maybe others downloaded with no signal

Nothing special to the app. It takes report of incidents and uploads to local authority.
