Orbot: Proxy with Tor

the awesome VPN setting and manual tor switch identity, is an amazing and very usable feature. I linked my phone with my gaming system and ran it off my phones connection boosted with ground cable gave me security against online "booters"(ddos'rs). They brag of how powerful their booters and sniffer (ip puller) but can't find the guy who's ip's are somewhere in Germany, Italy, Russia, and anywhere random and changeable ip so you can change identity at any time at will

* the older version was better. all what you need was a push on vpn mode button. but now when you press it there is settings page show up everytime and after that you have to press start button also. ** there is a bug with notification bar it's stick on (orbot is starting...) *** the older interface was more easier to get what you need in one page and everything is infront of you

Doesn't work unless you have browsing data allowances on your phone. Otherwise it doesn't break through anything. I thought the point was to bypass your network and give you unlimited free access to Internet. But when you have payed for allowances it keeps the ability to download/upload speeds up. That your network provider would otherwise shut off when you've went over the data limit. So that's something.

This app has gone bad. First off it doesn't start off easily, once I'm done and press 'Stop", the app starts glitching between Start and Stop and stays like that until I force stop it.

Always says "Orbot is starting..." then never starts. Even if it did work, this UI is horrendous; the old one was fine. Why did you guys have to "fix" what wasn't broken? Stuff like this is why I never update my working apps, because 10 times out of 10, the next update will break them. I hoped you guys were above this and updated anyway.

WARN: You specified a public address '0.0.0.0:5400' for DNSPort. Other people on the Internet might find your computer and use it as an open proxy. Please don't allow this unless you have a good reason. How to resolve this?{i enter the port 0 but still it apoears}

i love your software but recently the app just turns on with expanded notifications option not showing nodes or taking FOREVER (20 min or so) to get more. and the app wont turn off when i tell it to it blanks for a millisecond and turns itself back on. im not sure if its theres not enough nodes or if its just the app. sorry for long response.

Hate the new version, it's like for for kids. Old style was So much better. I have trouble connecting and seeing my open tor in my drop down bar, just doesn't work. Please fix and change

Love the app but its no longer connecting after a phone re boot/ reinstall. Sure it might the 9050 port but there is no visible app using that and cannot get it to work. Help/update would be awesome, keep up the good work!

I'll give a better review because this is an important app for the free world. However, if you want better reviews you should give detailed explanation of each of the settings IN THE APP!!! Do you want noobs to learn how to use your software? Those that don't think this is important are fools. Recommendations for each of the settings, and known qwerks for all Android OS's is advisable. This is not a complete work at all. And frankly does not work efficiently at all times.

When I visit any sites it open to slow and when in turn on vpn app internet does not run I m using 4g mostly it provide me 1to 19mbps speed

Even after enabling the option to run a non-exit relay. It says that the relay isn't reachable and that the remote server sent bogus reason code. Also, there is no properly guided tutorial as to how to run a relay in orbot for people who aren't Tor-Savy.

After last few updates and it still dont work well... Iv used this for a few years now and this is the worse its ever been.. I have it on a few phones and it dont work as good.... BUT IF YOU TURN OFF VPN ITS WORKS FOR A FEW HOURS

The app doesn't work properly anymore: once started, to stop becomes a problem; I have to force stop it. Also I don't really think it does what it is supposed to do anymore, for instance, I use it to access US only services such as Pandora, Spotify, etc but since the update it doesn't work anymore and I am informed that the service isn't available in my country which shouldn't be... Also the new UI just isn't right...

I used Tor just to browse around safely. But recently, no pages would load at all. It would be stuck at 0kbps the entire time, no matter how many times I reopen the app. Please tell me you're fixing this. Samsung Galaxy S6

Crashes too often to be of good use. IPs tend to fade in and out far too quickly, making my connection falter like mad. Can't use most basic websites when under the VPN... Needs a lot more testing and fixing.

For some reason this only works for about 18 hours, then I gradually lose the ability to connect with certain apps at first. Then all Internet function ceases. When it works, it's superb but I've just about given up on it. Help!

No information about how it works when you download. When I click browse it says I need orfox - but orfox doesn't work. VPN works for some apps but not all and its slow

I have a Nexus 5X running Android Nougat and an LG G2 running 5.0.2,rooted, and l, the app fails to connect and keeps bugging out on Android Nougat. Please add Nougat functionality

Why the heck you screwed up a working app? Recent UI change really messed up all and now looking for something else. Used for years and it's sad that it's dying

It's much easier now to used. It's probably organize, than previous update. And please make it portable to my device. Is kinda slow when I used through internet. Or it's just only my connection I think.

Works great most of the time have had a few issues but they fix them quickly. I don't use it for much other than researching network security but some .onion sites are fun to see just to see how the other side of the Internet works.

I used this paired with orfox to browse with TOR on my samsung galaxy avant and it worked perfectly but I upgraded to the samsung galaxy S7 and whenever I open Orfox it closes right away and I can go into the Orbot app and start TOR but when I click browse it opens up and closes right away. Im not going to give this a bad review because I know this is an amazing app. I just wanted to let the developers know about this problem. Thanks.

It was working and connecting like a charm BUT The latest updates ruined everything and not connecting to Tor anymore... Running Nexus 5 with xtrasmooth Rom and franco kernel lolipop ، so please fix the problems to get 5 Stars

What's the point of Orbot without a firewall? All the firewalls require root and the ones who don't (VPN-based) are leaking data. At least that is the case on my OS (4.4.4). And what about exit nodes? I can't login to any site because some exit node could steal my identity. Even if I could protect my data, most web sites don't work when I'm using Orfox. So basically I can only surf the web and nothing more. Even Google doesn't work. I appreciate the developer's effort, but there are just too many problems.

but among those in the know Tor is compromised. It's no longer safe.,. I mean the Intel agencies will let u watch snuff films but drugs and pump babies but ho against Hillary or the cabal talk about militia and truth wake people up on here isn't the way

Skeptical at first but somehow it work. Except for my workplace. I had try the bridge method but fail. Centralized block are done by network provider (Instagram, torrent, iFlix and several thing completely block) .

When I saw that the log was removed, I was a bit disappointed because then I knew what was going on at any given time, and when I was opening a tor circuit on my old phone, it gave me insight as to what went wrong. It just made things easier on me, why not allow it to be brought back?

Doesn't seem to work properly on Android 7.0. Sometimes starts, sometimes doesn't. Not sure exactly what is happening. Tried on work and home Wifi, as well as cellular networks. Most of the time all the application will do immediately shut down once you hit start.

Won't work with selected apps enabled. Tend to get disconnected/failed with no warning & for no apparent reason, killed wifi/data connection, must reboot phone to restore connection. Good when it works properly, for about quarter of the times. Other than that, it will be data connection nightmare. Tested in D5503 with rooted stock 4.4.4.

Useless! it gets stuck on "starting Orbot" status every time I start it. "Bridge" does not do anything either. Older versions of this software used to work, but even when I managed to downgrade I found that it's no longer works. I'm using this software in Saudi Arabia so I'm giving this thing a real test. This is the only review you will care about.

Experienced the complaints below not being able to connect to TOR, bootstrap at 8%... Especially after I restarted... I tried Transpoxy FORCE REMOVE in Settings. Seems to have "refreshed" and fixed everything.. for now at least...

I loved your it's privacy its ability to bypass proxies and I can hide my browsing usage when I use it but. Ow it keeps on saying an error of the shell that available. Will change rating if you fix this

First of all I have used this app a lot in the past and it would usually work flawlessly but as of last week ish it just doesn't work. It connects fine, but as soon as I go on the browser, it takes forever to load and then just times out, I don't get it.

overall, the new VPN mode in beta & RC v1.5.2.0 is a GOOD THING. it would be even better if the app inclusion/exclusion list actually worked. regressed error in RC8, explicit app exclusions don't work, at all. that forces disabling VPN mode, entirely, to allow apps that need orbot exclusions to work properly. please fix the VPN mode app exclusion toggle. otherwise, very great work on orbot. (toggled either way; forced stop & restarted; exclusions worked AOK in RC-7)

Why did they have to change this? The old version was working fine. The new version is really buggy and glitchy. Very frustrating. If it ain't broken, don't fix it.

The update is supposed to improve something not mess it up. Since last update this app has been useless.

Used to love it, the new UI looks childish, the app proxy option is inconvenient now and some of the time the 'Stop' button doesn't stop it and i have to force stop the app via settings. Can i just have an earlier version?

It don't work at all plz fix it asap first of all it won't start second thing some how it starts then stick to the same ip address for hours and hours third thing I can't see the logs when it bounces to the new address like before I want the first version of the app this update I hated it the most so two star this time :-(

It seems it be fully operable. No issues. VPN was confusing at first to find after update. But I've got it now
