About Playlist Backup

This application allows you to export your audio playlists (both System, Poweramp and Google Play Music playlists) to sdcard or Dropbox. You can keep as many backups as you want for each playlist.

** This app does NOT backup your songs, only playlist metadata, please read the FAQ for details **

** Google Play Music users, please read our FAQ for further details on this integration **

****
Please, send any errors you find by e-mail so I can fix them. I'm unable to contact users based on comments so I can't get further details about the problem and fix it.
****

** If you have any question try to look into our FAQ:
https://bitbucket.org/dsaran/playlistbackup/wiki/FAQ

** Now with support for Dropbox **

Export your Audio Playlists as M3U files on your SDCARD and keep them safe.

If you are a Poweramp user you probably noticed it keeps its playlists separate from Android Playlists. This can be annoying when you want to use your playlists in other applications.
With Playlist Backup you can easily keep your Android Playlists in sync with your Poweramp Playlists.
Note: This app currently can't change contents of poweramp playlist because of a limitation on Poweramp API. I hope this will be fixed soon so we can add features such as Import Playlist and 2-way sync for poweramp playlists.

Main Features:
- Export system playlists to sdcard
- Export Poweramp playlists to sdcard
- Import M3U files to your system playlists
- Delete duplicate entries from your playlists
- Keep your Android Playlists in sync with Poweramp Playlists

This is app is under development so many new features will be available in a near future.

Please feel free to send any problem or suggestions by e-mail.

Notes about Dropbox:
* This application has access only to its own directory, located at /Apps/Playlist Backup/
* You need to set up your account on Preferences before uploading files to Dropbox
* This app won't store your login information, all the login process is done by the official Dropbox API
* More details about this service on www.dropbox.com

After having years of difficulty exporting and importing PowerAmp playlists this app finally helped me overcome my lost playlist problem. Thank you so much!

This app just saved me from a lot of pain and suffering that I would have gone through trying to recreate my playlists on an new phone. Using the Dropbox link, I was able to transfer my playlists over pretty much instantly. A+ good job guys

installed poweramp and installed this. I have no idea how it works, it is very unclear how this functions to backup a poweramp playlist. To be honest, I think this application does absolutely nothing. If anyone can figure out how this will work with poweramp, I would like to know but without clear instructions, I cannot get this to work. My playlists in poweramp lost all their content, and I have used this app to back up the playlists but i have no idea how to get the playlists restored to poweramp and there are no clear instructions on how to do this.... so this application is useless.

Chose to back up Google Play playlists. Instead of copying existing playlists, it apparently creates new ones, without any songs that aren't stored locally as .mp3's., which is the whole point of Google Play Music. Then it tried to save to the SD card - and couldn't. Reported "Failure" for every list. Pretty useless!

It removed my playlists from my android system, they don't show up when I open music player. They do show up in the app but will not restore/reinstall/backup or import them back to my phone.

But badly needs a makeover. The icon looks great on my G1, not so much my Note4. I can't imagine what it'll look like on a Note7. Open source it or something....

The export is working and so is the Dropbox but the import will not import my playlists back to Google play after being deleted.

Hi. This just wiped all my lists.selected folder in phone memory and nothing there.. Help

This actually works! I installed a custom ROM so my play music playlist was gone. With this app I was able to backup and restore my playlist. This app does not backup songs, it only backups file location of playlist so you need to copy your songs again and place them where they were.

I used this app to make a backup of my playlists. When one of my playlist got deleted I restored it using the backup.

Helped me get my playlists from my s4 to my s7. But it only worked when I set the backups to be .txt, and when I set it to .m3u it renamed my songs in the playlist, and I also couldn't find the .m3u files in my playlist folder. So I would recommend using .txt backups in this app (in the settings)

I used this app before also but was not that effective I had backup the music playlist on dropbox and again when I tried to restore it showed empty dropbox

Want to edit or use your Android playlists elsewhere? Don't like having your playlists locked into the Android music database? (system, poweramp, google music) This is such a helpful app. Thank you!

Great App! I was upgrading my SD card and this app saved all my playlist in my Samsung Music Player. I still can't believe mirroring the SD cards didn't do the trick but I'm glad this up did it.

Doesn't work to import to another device even though the music paths are exactly the same and option is set for relative path. Doesn't export Google playlists even though all playlist music is downloaded.

LoSing a few playlist after switching out sd cards this thing is a savior!

Y70%

Amazing! It saved me the trouble of recreating my playlist all over again.

Y70%
by Y####:

It works great. But it'd be easier if you could restore multiple playlist at the same time. You have to do one at a time now, and that take a shitload of time

E70%
by E####:

please add file manager options i.e. not only metada, add features to copy or cut the files to a specific folder, the songs marked in playlists. then only it is 100% complete. metadata makes again to download or re search the songs. makes whole process to do again.

"This application has access only to its own directory, located at /Apps/Playlist Backup/" -- This directory does not exist / I do not have access to it. This software has created playlist on my device that I can't remove!

I needed to clear my data to have Google Play Music recognize the album art I'd downloaded. Websites said clearing data would also wipe out my playlists. I downloaded this app to backup & restore playlists to Play Music. It was a little confusing to me b/c I didn't notice the option to prefix the backup names. When I restored I looked under original names & thought it didn't work. But the app DID backup & restore my entire lists! No more manually selecting hundreds of files!

D70%
by D####:

What I am really looking for is a method to back up all of the albums in my Google Music library to a list or even an export of my Thumbs Up songs. It is however useful to be able to save user created playlists.
