Altimeter Pro for Android
Barometer not working, despite having said it's compatible.
In general, a neat app. Great promise. To get the last star from me, will need a change + fix: When calibrating from the internet, if the selected airport fails for any reason to provide data, the app should AUTOMATICALLY select the nearest one that actually IS providing data. This should be totally hands off if location services are providing even a course position. It would be helpful if a display on the left side (like the calibration window on the right) showed the airport code from which the calibration was taken, in white if closest, and in yellow or orange if a closer airport could not provide a value. Extra credit: Click on the indicator (above-described left calibration indicator) to get a Google Map showing the current device location, the airport providing the calibration (blue or green marker device) and any closer one(s) that could not provide data (orange / red device).
This is just what I needed. I use this for PPG and love the voice announcements. I have it set to tell me the altitude every 200 feet. I no longer need to look at my phone.
Nice, but how does one turn it "off"? The only way I've found so far is to force stop the app (there's no "exit" button! ?????)
Won't calibrate if using GPS only.
Functions
Simple, accurate, easy to calibrate. I like the fact that it does not use gps. When calibrated from an accurate barometer it reads right on. I really like the analog widget. Awesome app!
It used 178mb of memory in 7 minutes to much for for most phones.
An accurate app. Tried this on many occasions at known altitude areas. Pretty accurate....when compensation added.
When i compare it with garmin gps, it has not much difference. You must have it in your smartphone.
Runs perfect with precision, but even finishing the app it remains in the notification bar and heat the phone until kill the battery. The only solution it to force to stop in the app management. Please, solve this and will have the 5 stars. Sony Z5 EDITED! Now it runs perfect and it closes. I did your explanation before which were not working. Thanks a lot for your fast reply!
I measured at cabane tracuit (3256m) but it was reporting as around 3100m. Also, it was reporting around 100m lower at bishorn. However, it works well on grounds lower than 1000m. Perhaps it does not work well in high altitudes? I was using barometer as sensor.
If you guys could get the altimeter to auto-calibrate based off of the nearest METAR (internationally standard) that would make this app AWESOME!!!

It a good app. Can you change acoustic sounds? It look very unfamiliar to me. It should be sth like bip bip bip
I'm on the Forth road bridge. I'm 1 metre up?
Great app
Perfect calibration methods. Anyways, two small feature suggestions: option to display climb rate also in meters per hour, which is nice for sports, now available, thank you!. And optionally graph pressure in long intervals, which would make it a stationary weather station.
Thank you!
Works fine with S6 edge. Great app :)
102 FEET off! Serious problem with the GPS mapping accuracy.
Great app. Good looking and easy to read in flight (still use mechanical alt but a great comparison). What would be great is an audio feedback (beeping rate) from the vario climb rate. Works a teat with the barro sensor in my Galaxy 5. Well done
Great design and look. Accurate and easy to calibrate. Works entirely independently from the Internet, so useful in back country. Works with both pressure (if sensor fitted to device) and GPS. Works great on Samsung Galaxy S5.
This is a good app but I would like to see an altitude alert (with all the requisite disclaimers of course). That would put it over the top.
Android 4.4 Samsung note 4 edge. Desert home is at 40 ft elevation, software shows 38 ft. Good graphics. Gotta test while hiking yet; will update this evaluation at completion.
Why not calibrate using GPS location to get altitude from map, then run baro?
Does exactly what it says, I have no barometer sensor on my device but the GPS works like a charm.
Just keep getting error message "Package file was not signed" I have emailed dev and hope I get a reply.

I would like it to calibrate on start up from nearest source.
