About MANET Manager

Welcome to the world of smart phone ad-hoc networking! This app turns your phone or tablet into a peer-to-peer communication device. You don't need a cell plan, access point, or even an Internet connection, just a bunch of friends with ad-hoc-enabled devices of their own.

Requirements:
- Root access
- Kernel which supports wireless extensions (wext)
- Wireless device driver which supports ad-hoc mode (Broadcom works well)

Supported devices:
- Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1
- Samsung Galaxy S II Epic Touch 4G SPH-D710
- Samsung Galaxy Nexus SCH-I515 (custom kernel)
- Samsung Galaxy S III GT-I9300 I9300UBDLJ1 (Latin American countries) (custom kernel)
- Samsung Galaxy S III GT-I9300 I9300XXBLH1 (Nordic countries) (custom kernel)
- ASUS Transformer Prime TF201 (custom kernel)
- ASUS Nexus 7 (custom kernel)

The custom kernels can be installed using ClockworkMod Recovery. Download them here:

This simple app allows you to enable and configure a Mobile Ad-Hoc Network (MANET) for your device. Install the app on another device and they will automagically recognize and link to each other when they are within ~500 feet. Install the app on even more devices and expand the range of your mesh network! The app will route data from one device to another and "hop" across other devices in the mesh to get there. In short, the more devices in your mesh the greater your communication range.

This app also allows you to share your phone's cell connection with other devices in the mesh.

Troubleshooting:
- If we don't officially support your device, the app may still work. Try manually selecting your Wireless Interface (most likely wlan0 or eth0) through the Settings.

This thing works, the eth0 interface is selected by default. Try changing it to wlan0, this is the net interface you'd like to be in ad-hoc mode.

So it might actually be brilliant

This needs to work on many more devices. I cannot use this as I have a toroplus or Sprint version of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus which sucks. Was interested in trying this. Support more devices, but will need to have a larger scale approach for this to really work.

X70%
by X####:

Idea! Needs to work on more devices... Although I understand limitations. :)

That's why it 'crashes' when you first open it--check the notification bar. My phone's not rooted [yet], so I can't really comment on how well it works.

Most of your bad reviews would not be necessary if you would read the description and the requirements. The App works, you need to get your phone working with it. EDIT: simple root might not be enough.

X70%
by X####:

5 stars as though it does not work on my phone it is a great idea that does work on SOME phones. Ppl need to read the info before downloading then complaining it does not work on a non supported handset.

X70%

Changed settings to use wlan interface and it now works. Previous comment: No explanation. No debugging. No exit button. Needs a list of guaranteed working hardware.

It says ad hoc not running

I70%
by I####:

This app does not work on my HTC Rezound using CyanogenMod 10.1 nor on my Motorola DROID using Liquid ROM. This app sounds very useful in a disaster and I hope my phones will be supported.

C70%
by C####:

Granted root permission but the app fails to connect. I really like the idea of this app, but it didn't work (on nexus 4) and from what I read there are still some security issues that need to be addressed.
