Du Chinese - Mandarin Reading for Android
I find this reader to be a great collection of stories and a really efficient interface to support my studying.
Love the stories but I wish there were more free ones
Perfect app. I have tried several this is the best
Great format and content
Incredible app! Useful for beginners and advanced alike. The stories are pretty interesting and provide great reading practice. You can keep Pinyin turned on to help or turn it off so that you aren't using it as a crutch. You can also find the meaning of a word by pressing it in the reading. The translation appears above the text and fades away when you stop pressing so that you can immediately get back in the groove of reading. My favorite feature by far is being able to listen to the material read by a n
I have many apps on my phones and laptop and they all have their pros and cons. What makes this one unique in my opinion is that it gives you the story in both Chinese characters and Pinyin. It also has an English translation of the story which you can refer to when you get stuck. Best of all it has a voice recording of the story which you can listen to in standard speed or slow it down while you follow the text. An excellent app for learning Mandarin.
I've tried probably twenty or so Chinese learning apps on Android/iOS. This is by far the best, both in terms of app quality and features, but also the most helpful to me in increasing my Chinese skills. Partly this is because the content is relatively interesting compared to most Chinese learning materials so studying seems like less of a chore. Disclaimer: I'm mid level and I wouldn't recommend a complete beginner to start by trying to read entire paragraphs until they know some basic grammar and vocab.
High quality content (best in the market), works offline once you loaded the stories, integrated flashcard system - perfect travel companion. But the subscriptions are very expensive... I hope more people will use it so price can go down!
I love the option to see the definitions, the ability to turn pinyin on and off, the bite-sized nature of the written pieces, and the rating based on level. I'm pretty frustrated the fact that the majority of the stories can only be seen by premium users, though.
This is by far the best Chinese reading app out there. The articles are always so fascinating and it's easy to toggle pin ying and HSK hints. Edu discount is 50%, so it really doesn't get any better than this.
There wasn't nearly as much articles I needed to pay for up to this moment. Actually there were none at all and that's what I liked about this app so much. I don't blame the delevopers for wanting money, but how about just making the app paid?
Great app, the instant translations are excellent. Well done all around, 4 stars only because of the prohibitive pricing of the premium account level. Cmon guys, more than 10$ a month is pretty ridiculous.
Great app for beginners. Interesting stories. I like the idea that the words are repeated several times making for great practice and easier to learn the characters. This is helping me a lot and I'm having fun at the same time. I will have to go and visit that Panda Hotel now in Si Chuan.
Probably my favourite app for improving my reading. All the functions (words, dictionary) are presented in a really clear way - words don't stay up once you've tapped them once (like with other similar apps I could mention...) and the texts are always really interesting and informative!
I've learned Chinese long time ago, found it hard to study back home... This app is what I was waiting for. Very very nice and well done app
What I like the most about this app is that I can turn off the pinyin, ignore the audio and switch to traditional. This means I can use this app to supplement my studies to learn Cantonese.
Really excellent. It's good supplemental material, and really refreshes general use words that you may have forgotten after leaving them dormant for a while.
This app will read the stories out loud for you which is great for listening practice. Also gives definitions of words if you press and hold on them
Love it! Fun way to learn to read Chinese texts. Different levels, with or without pinyin and voice that can read the text or sentences at various speeds. Possibility to save words and interesting themes. Very addictive!
One of the best news /articles for Chinese learners. Articles are very interesting. The UI is very smooth. App is very stable and interface very clean, I will say the best interface for a Chinese news reading app. However, only 6 articles added per week on average. Not enough for learners. Hopefully can be as much as TCB where u will have 3-4 articles per day.
I have tried many apps to aid in my quest to learn chinese. This is one of the most useful apps to help with listening and reading characters, not just vocab words but sentences and stories of all levels. Great Job!
I had learned Chinese a long time ago but habe had very limited resources to keep up on it. This app had for to be one of the best ones I have used.
A pretty good app, but which is entertaining and expands your vocabulary. I would suggest being a class or at least 2 to discuss the text and practice together to make sure you pronounce everything correctly, and read aloud.
This is just the best for learning Chinese. I have tried many other apps. Very good. Funny how they they can make such great software but others can't. Yet I wish the topics were of more practical subjects.
Hi, i really like this app. Thank you for making this. Do you have cantonese version?
Ibcredibly useful for intermediate learners. The use of all canals of learning the writting (both caracters and pinyin), the listening and the translation (on top so that it is not blend with the text. Wonderful!
The best reader app I've found for Chinese! The quality of the content is high. I only wish it could export flashcards to Anki, so I can review flashcards in one place...
This app has been great with helping me not forget my Chinese. The articles are quite interesting as well. I'm learning a lot about Chinese popular culture
This is an amazing app. The Best I've ever used to learn Chinese on a mobile device. Truly spectacular for anyone trying to learn how to speak and recognize characters to read.
I love this app. The articles are interesting and to-the-point. The layout is put together well, and there's an option to save and practice vocab from the articles. Good job, guys!
It's a great tool for personal study! And the topics are different, varied, and shorr enough to be easily incorporated into you daily practice routine.
Excellent app. But can you please sort lessons into free category and pro category so that it's easier for us to find the lessons we want?
Good apps, i learn alot new vocabulary with these, however i wish you can give us grammar lesson. Thanks
Best app for learning mandarin I could find, especially since Duolingo doesn't teach the language yet.
This app is very well organized and perfect for practicing Chinese reading. It has all the features I would want.
It has pinyin, dictation, English if needed when reading the article. Clear interface. Articles are free for 2 weeks. Beneficial to improving reading, listening, translation and speaking.
Fantastic app to use. Make sure to make use of the flashcards that get auto generated when you save words you don't know!
Love that you can toggle pinyin and English separately. Really great app, some of the stories are pretty funny too!
哇賽!這個app太酷了!我喜歡,你們寫的文章對我來說很有趣,而且我可以用我喜歡繁體 謝謝!

It really helped me a lot!! Although i hope it will improve the way we save words. I have to used two fingers just to save one word. But overall it is a really nice and helpful learning app. And i hope there is japanese version.
