Introduction
Ce dictionnaire vous permette de découvrir la langue dioula du Burkina Faso. Parfois on dit que le dioula (aussi écrit «jula» ou bien «dyula») est un «bambara simplifié» ou encore que le dioula est un «bambara commercial». On dit même que le dioula est relié au bambara de la même façon que l'anglais des États-Unis est lié à l'anglais de l'Angleterre. D'autres vont si loin pour dire qu'on peut considérer que les termes dioula, bambara et malinké désignent en fait la même langue, le mot dioula étant utilisé en Côte d'Ivoire et au Burkina Faso alors que les mots bambara et malinké sont plus en usage au Mali. La nasalisation d’une voyelle est représentée à l’aide du ‹ n › après celle-ci, par exemple /ẽ/ s’écrit ‹ en ›.
Les tons ne sont notés que dans les ouvrages lexicographiques. Cependant, pour éviter certaines ambiguïtés, les tons sont obligatoires dans certains cas.
