ST Eggcase

Many sharks, skates and rays reproduce by laying tough leathery eggcases, known as mermaid’s purses; these can often be washed ashore when empty. The Great Eggcase Hunt is a Shark Trust citizen science recording project aiming to discover where different species lay their eggs. To get involved, simply head to the beach, hunt for eggcases, identify your finds and report them to the Great Eggcase Hunt. The dataset can then be used by the Shark Trust to help identify important egglaying and nursery grounds.
