About ST Angler
The app forms part of the Angler Recording Project, providing recreational anglers with an opportunity to participate directly in shark, skate and ray conservation by recording and sharing details of their catches with the Shark Trust. The app also contains an easy-to-use Identification Tool, assisting anglers in accurate species identification. Users have access to the Shark Trust’s extensive ‘Sharks, Skates and Rays of the Northeast Atlantic’ Factsheets, containing detailed information on 14 species of shark and 21 species of skate and ray. There is also a Catch Logbook, allowing anglers to log information on every catch, and generate statistics and goals.
Established in 1997, the Shark Trust is the only UK registered charity working to advance the worldwide conservation of sharks, skates and rays. The Trust works with anglers and the commercial fishing industry towards the goal of sustainably managed fisheries. To do this, we need as much information as possible on shark, skate and ray populations around the British Isles and the Northeast Atlantic which, in turn, contributes to the development of more effective management and conservation measures.
IMPORTANT: Exact fishing marks and coordinates submitted via the app remain 100% confidential and will not be disclosed to a third party.
