About ReadyNC

ReadyNC provides the most critical information needed to prepare for and recover from typical disasters that impact North Carolina. For people living in or visiting North Carolina, this is an all-in-one tool for emergency preparedness.
Features include:
• Current weather conditions
• Real-time traffic conditions where you are, by route or region
• Power outages near you and where you can report outages
• Open shelters near you (including which accept pets)
• Counties being evacuated
• How to prepare for and be safe during typical hazards that impact NC
• How to create an emergency plan and kit
• Real-time information from stream and river flood gages near you.
• Who to contact for assistance when disasters strike.
The application does not replace calling 9-1-1 for emergencies. This app should not be used as a substitute for weather radio or other emergency alerts during severe weather.

ReadyNC draws data from many different sources. The ReadyNC application requires network connections and location services to access this information. The state provides no guarantees of cellular network reliability, data availability or validity of information outside our control.

ReadyNC is sponsored by North Carolina Emergency Management, NC Department of Public Safety and NC Citizen Corps. For more information, visit readyNC.org.

What are users saying about ReadyNC

Useless. Just links to websites and lots of links go no where, just like the traffic in the state. GA and SC have real traffic apps that are usable and helpful. NC needs to step up to succeed in tourism.

This had nothing I would never think to use this to help make my life better. Alabama and those guys know how to make an app. This is BS

The road conditions are useless. Need to see how Missouri does theirs.

H70%

Completely useless. Uninstalling.

Downloaded for hurricaine Matthew but does not have current evacuations or shelters listed. These are reasons the app was downloaded! !!

T70%
by T####:

App won't work on my S5. Unfortunate, since I do a lot of disaster relief work.

T70%
by T####:

Didn't used to require such deep access to your personal information.

G70%
by G####:

This app is kind of stupid...it doesn't even list a full emergency supply kit...it is missing a lot of important items. I would just Google what you need before using this app.

T70%
by T####:

Individual dedicated apps for traffic, weather alerts, hazardous conditions are a far better choice.

Z70%
by Z####:

Live Traffic Map looks 2D and can use a real Update. Look at Google Maps or Waze Maps. The "My Risk" section has been under construction over a year. It just needs to be a bit more User Friendly & a Tornado Tracker or "Storm Tracks" like Weather Underground has.

I'll give it 2 stars for being a good idea. However I quickly found "current" river levels for the Neuse River to wildly inaccurate, for example it states that current height of river in Goldsboro is 65 feet !! Expecting a Tsunami wave in New Bern any minute now

This is the most useless "app" I've ever used. It directs you back to the web, I can do that myself.

Z70%
by Z####:

Nice to have river levels with flood stages. Shelter locations with current capacity (and whether they accept pets or not). Very nice app to have for emergencies.

F70%
by F####:

Why does the app still how a section of I-40 near I-95 being closed when it is in fact open? A little ridiculous when we are relying on the State to provide correct information after a natural disaster.

, it's a great app

Worthlessness

Z70%
by Z####:

What a waste of time. Even with the many bad reviews, I still chose to give it a try. In the middle of winter storm Jonas, looking for most up to date info available. App is only links to other sites, some of which, aren't fully functional sites themselves. THIS APP IS WORSE THAN USELESS, IT HAS THE POTENTIAL OF WASTING YOUR TIME DURING AN EMERGENCY!!!

N70%
by N####:

Gave it a try. Not much information. Getting more information from Accuweather and my other weather apps.

Z70%
by Z####:

Crap. You're better off just checking out the weather channel or your local news apps.

F70%

This app needs to be updated but keep up the good work!

Didn't work

Z70%

Great!

Z70%

Most everything are just links to websites. No map legends, just a bunch of blue dots. Not even different colors for different levels of severity. Google maps contains more information.

How can I enter my location?

A70%

An app with weblinks. Pointless.

X70%

The absolute worst state DOT site I've used. TN. and S.C. sites are definitely better and easier to use. This site is of no help.

This app is nothing more than a bunch of website links. Disappointed this is the best we can do. North Carolina can do better.

Z70%
by Z####:

App closes whenever I choose any feature. Verizon Galaxy S5 lollipop 5.0 ...app removed.

P70%
by P####:

I just moved from Seattle WA and I'm very disappointed with this app. Highly recommend that they just take a look at WSDOT, and maybe a NCDOT will come out of it. With the WSDOT app I was able to look at road cameras so I can see the road conditions myself. Any how NC take a look at it.

R70%

I hope you all make this app better!

Closes everytime I attempt to open, a waste of time.
