About Star Odyssey

Ever used Google's Sky Map to identify a star, but wanted to know more than just the star's name? Star Odyssey fills that gap.

It includes:
* Over 70 of the brightest stars in the night sky
* Pronunciation guides (it's not obvious how to pronounce many star names)
* Origin of the name (the meaning of a star's name is often insightful)
* Brightness and distance from Earth
* Interesting astronomical facts
* Includes all stars displayed in Google Sky Map
* Integration with the SkEye planetarium app for locating stars (Unfortunately Google Sky Map does not support this feature)
* Algol Eclipse schedule (find out when to watch the Demon Star fade and re-brighten)

Awesome app. I love how it pairs with skEye app but it NEEDS MORE STARS! Please keep adding to the database or offer an expanded database as an add-on. Thanks for the work you've done.

Gives good info... If lacking a bit. But overall a decent app... and free...

Very useful for learning about specific stars, but rarely helpful in practice. Amateur astronomers don't spend much time looking at individual stars (although Algol & Albireo are exceptions). OTOH, non-Amateur Astronomers don't generally need the information in this app. This would be great if more object types were included. An example that quickly come to mind are planets (especially including low-number minor planets like 1-Ceres). Another example type is the various moons in the solar system.

Complements the SkEye app very nicely! Only wish it had better star catalogue numbering information and linked to Wikipedia.

This is not a map/star chart. But it is fantastically fluid for finding data on stars.

My last low rating of the program was due to my ignorance. Thank You Randy for such a personal concern emailing me and educating me. I installed the program again and I'm giving it the highest rating

My SkEYE Pro combo with the telescope made my starry nights a whole lot better. But with this added as well? Makes the circle come complete into orbit. Outstanding for any hobby astronomer!

I use my Galaxy Note 10.1 when observing the night sky. The app doesnt use GPS or alows you to enter location manually so a few features are unuseable on a Wifi tablet. The worst problem is the poor font it uses - it is really bad and almost unreadable. In addition, turning off the night vision mode would be a nice to have feature. Overall - not ready for prime time.

Says it cannot find my location but gives me no way to input data! Tells me my wi-fi and locator must be on (which they are)! Unistalled...
