I LOVE radiolab so I was totally excited to spend the $3 to get this. DO NOT BUY THIS APP UNTIL THEY POST THAT CHANGES HAVE BEEN MADE! It's interactive which is the only reason I have it the two stars that I did...otherwise, it's crap. Please, do not buy this app. They are too smart of a show to be proud of this app and they should fix it.

I already had the app on my iPhone and at first it worked great but then I couldn't download anything. Now I have a fairphone which runs on android. I downloaded and paid for the asp again but nothing works. I can't download any podcasts, sometimes can't stream them either. Make section didn't even open even though I have all updates. Please fix it, I really love the show and the app is beautifully designed

HTC One M7. I don't have any big issues with any apps, but this one just doesn't work. I select the episode or short that I want to listen to and it plays a completely different one. When I want to exit out, it doesn't. It just hangs around in the background. I've never written a negative review and, I'm sorry, but I had to for this one. I do hope you fix any bugs soon. Let me know if it is on my end, too. Lastly, great podcast. You guys are the best!

I feel a little guilty giving the whole app such a poor rating when the MAKE feature, honestly the only reason I paid for it, is what really hurts the app. According to Google Play, I have the latest version and the developers claim the MAKE section was fixed with the latest update. However, no scripts appear on my phone or tablet when I attempt to record; just the title. Not fun. Not fair. I'm happy to support my favorite podcast. It's $3.00, and not breaking my finances to spend it, but, I already used a podcatcher to listen to the shows. I didn't need this. The allure was the ability to contribute and possibly hear my voice during a show. I will keep it in the hopes that eventually the MAKE section gets fixed for good. For now, I'm really not impressed.

This app is very confusing to navigate. The graphical interface is clumsy and makes it difficult to find any actual content. Also, and as far as I can figure there isn't any way to close the app. Once you launch it it always shows a notification that says it is running in the background. I love radio lab but this app is very poorly done.

The Make section scripts do not show up on my GS7edge. I am going to try on my GS5. The podcast works fine but seems pointless to have the app. I'll just go back to listening through Stitcher. I thought it would be cool to record some audio for you guys but the app is prohibitive of that.

One would think that having to pay for app would mean you'd get a well functioning app. However playback of some of the downloaded episodes is choppy - the app sometimes skips parts and sometimes replays parts. Please work on the bugs.

Was really promising on release. No updates in years... Terrible. Using Pocket Casts now to listen to podcasts. Much better app. Sorry Radiolab, I need updates for all the bugs and terrible interface. Uninstalled.

M70%
by M####:

I LOVE radiolab. I was trying to listen to all of them...but I'm lucky if it plays. And then if it does it gets stuck and frozen until I restart my phone. I really would just like a consistent way to listen even if it didnt look so cool.... :(

M70%
by M####:

I love Radiolab and was looking for an easier way to search episodes and listen on my device. The app is ok but has a lot of bugs and crashes. Searching never brings back any results other than the original list when you hit the listen button.

Super excited to listen to RL on a road trip, but I can't even navigate to downloads! I'm not even sure if things are downloading. Please change this confusing interface.

M70%
by M####:

The user interface is horrible. They need to scrap the fancy page and make it more functional. Navigating to your downloads is a hassle. You're not even sure it's downloading. I'm so disappointed. This American Life app is designed great gives summaries and works perfectly.

J70%
by J####:

The app switches tracks mid play constantly. I love the show, but seriously... If you can't even play an audio file, why did you spend all the effort on cutsie things?

M70%
by M####:

Top shelf content, but on a remainders bin app. Frequently locks up, repeats or skips randomly, an exercise in frustration. Is it a cruel experiment, guys? To put something so awesome just ever so out of reach?

H70%
by H####:

I love the podcasts, and I love radio Lab! Sadly The app sucks! It replays a loop and overlaps and it is choppy. It is not my internet connection, it has been an issue for a few years. I am about to give up on it. I have had the same issue on multiple devices.

M70%
by M####:

I do not understand why they went with this sort of interface. Every time that I attempt to scroll down to listen it gets stuck on create. I just wanted to download some podcasts apparently that's too much to ask for.

M70%
by M####:

This app is horrible. Crashes every time I use it, always randomly restarts episodes in the middle of the podcast. I'm surprised as to how bad the app is, especially knowing how great the show is produced. You can do better than that.

K70%
by K####:

The app has gotten a little buggier over the years but it has always been tolerable. Recently it's gotten to the point where it is unusable because the show jumps around and is impossible to follow.

M70%
by M####:

i regret paying for this app. great show, but when I listen through the app, the recordings skip too often and repeats itself. so frustrating.

M70%
by M####:

I am addicted to the show so it's hard to rate the app low, but the app needs serious work. It is very glitchy, stops streaming mid cast without a place holder, and does not always allow you to download off line.

Y70%
by Y####:

Buy a quality podcast app that plays radiolab instead. I used to be able to download episodes for flights - nope, not anymore. And worse, the app is always running. You literally cannot close it unless you restart your phone. This would be laughable if it were free; it's unacceptable since it's paid. The one benefit - I love Radiolab so I look at the money spent as a small donation.

M70%
by M####:

All the reviews I've read on this app are spot on. I love Radiolab, absolutely love it, but the app is seriously disappointing. There's no need for me to go into detail, because the details are covered in many other reviews of the app that I've read. Seems there are two different standards at work here, one for the podcast and one for the app. If you could bring the high standard of quality that you bring to the podcast to the app, then you would have a winner. But your not there as of now.

Y'all are making a very enjoyable Podcast very unenjoyable to use. It's superfluously clunky. You're opting for an interactive experience that's best reserved for a PC; it's all about simplicity and clarity for us mobile users. Please. Fix this. For the love of God. For the love of Radiolab. Love, Bails xxx

X70%
by X####:

I love Radiolab, but hate this app. This app is just beyond beyond useless: there is no audio scrubber, you can't bookmark where you are listening and come back, if you stream an episode and you loose connection it restarts from the beginning of the episode, if you try to download an episode there is no indication of when it has started and what progress there is and how much is left, and worst of all - you cannot quite the app with out going to your running processes and force killing the process. For as much time and attention and detail, and love and editorial oversight goes into the production of the episodes, it is clear that nobody involved in the show actually had anything to do with this app, or they would have been profoundly embarrassed at how badly it tarnishes their show and brand.

X70%
by X####:

Come on guys... A show about science, and an app we paid for that has never worked well and is so buggy now that it won't even play a whole show? Grr

X70%
by X####:

I absolutely love to listen to radio lab on the radio. I absolutely hate trying to navigate the phone app. I am extremely surprised and disappointed that this app has not received an overhaul long before now. The app fails to load more than is acceptable and I have no idea if the app will download a podcast when I attempt to try. I rarely pay for apps and fee terribly displeased with this purchase. I can see I am not the only one who feels this way and have to wonder why such a progressive and thought provoking organization would allow the continued inefficiency of a key piece of media.

I love radiolab and sharing with friends the wonders that the show bring. This app however is awful. When listening it skips around, repeats itself and overall is way to gimmicky! I play NPR for my coworkers and they get so interested in radiolab so imagine our disappointment...

X70%
by X####:

Ok, so I adore Radiolab- it's addicting because their work is fascinating. However, due to how amazing Radiolab is, it then becomes so frustrating that the app doesn't work...like at all. I can't play episodes or it will switch episodes while I'm listening to another. There must be a better way!! I hope they work it out since it's such an amazing podcast.

X70%
by X####:

I love love love radiolab but this app is terrible. The interface complicated, but what's worse is that it continues running until you manually stop the app. It's very frustrating. It's disappointing that the creators of such an ingenious podcast can't manage to make an app that does it justice.

X70%
by X####:

It is not intuitive, freezes, and doesn't shut down (regularly is the reason I restart my phone)... bummer.

X70%
by X####:

Jab! Robert! How do you have such a great, modern radio show and such a clunky, buggy app? Ugly, and playback skips and randomly jumps back 10 seconds every couple of minutes.

X70%
by X####:

It just keeps crashing, lags often, inneficient interface, and scrubbing is a nightmare; honestly, the stories are the only reason I still have this. It really needs an update, but the quality makes you guys seem unprofessional. Get it together, radiolab.

X70%
by X####:

The app itself is cool, if it would only work. It has been buggy for years. Right now I'm listening to a full episode using it with no way to pause, rewind or fast forward. The whole download function is totally cryptic. There isn't room to describe all the buggy things about this app. I expected them to continually improve this app but they haven't at all.

X70%
by X####:

Great show, don't get me wrong. But as a user and app developer this is horrible. I offered my services for free a year ago I think, but was told they had people working on it.... Yeah ask for your money back and hire a new team or one decent developer at least.

X70%
by X####:

The show is great and I've listened for a couple years online. The app is trying to look cool and falls short. The best part is that thw episode will continue to play when your phone screen locks.

X70%
by X####:

The app looks great, but performs terribly. I listen to music from SoundCloud and Digitally Imported radio, and I NEVER have as much of an issue with them as I have with RL. Every single time I've run this app, I've encountered issues while listening. I restart it, reinstall it, use Wi-Fi instead of cell data and nothing helps. I'm not sure how they've built it, but they need to take a look at the SoundCloud app and rework theirs. That I paid $2.99 for a faulty app made me give it 1/5 star instead of 2/5.

I70%
by I####:

Lots of time spent on aesthetics...not a lot of time spent on making the app useful...annoying navigation... Won't close...lots of bugs...love the show... Sorry I paid for the app.

X70%
by X####:

Amazing show, terrible app. Hard to use, freezes and crashes often, difficult to scroll through episode lists. Why do you do this to us Jad? (I know it's not Roberts fault, he probably doesn't even fully understand what an app is! [just kidding I love you Robert!])

X70%
by X####:

Totally worth it and the discussions are actually educated and make you think unlike TV now in days .

F70%
by F####:

Downloaded the app only because I wanted to read the show credits, recorder works, but the screen where what I'm supposed to read should appear, alas is blank. Beautiful interface, terrible app. Will continue using BeyondPod to listen and enjoy...debating uninstalling the app.
