About TorqueScan (Torque OBD Plugin)

This is a plugin for the Torque pro OBD2 application that shows all the data that Torque has access to as well as some other features that some may find useful for OBD debugging.

* Quick and easy display of available ECU sensors

* OBD PID scanner to quickly map and locate extended PIDs

* Simple Telnet server that allows direct connection to the adapter to allow far easier debugging (aimed at developers)
The main application - Torque - allows you to connect your android device to your cars engine management, and read various sensors, even retrieve fault codes (DTC) and clear them once fixed. It can post to Twitter, log data, supports themes, and so much more!

If you are interested in developing your own plugin then you can find an example app here(which uses AIDL): http://ian-hawkins.com/torquescan.zip

What's Changed
Remember you need Torque Pro to use this plugin!
Now shows detected responses from other ECUs when using functional requests, allowing you to setup duplicate PIDs to get access to those ECUs (for example, V10 engines with 2 ECUs for each cylinder bank)
The next update will improve upon the PID scanner to be more useful and not run out of memory (go slow/stop)

I actually run Torque Pro (with ALL the add-ons, paid and free) daily on my Harley Davidson Electra Glide. Use it mainly for the rpm and tach. I love it. But I also use it to diagnose car issues.

Gives me enough information to take my vehicles to a garage to give me the confidence to tell them what I want fixed not what they think I need fixed so they can line their pocket. Thank you so much for the confidence!

Great app, but won't reset the idiot light. (Snicker) Varying voltages often are caused by wiring degredation. Corroded/oxidized connectors cause a voltage drop. A voltage difference between the battery and the CPU (what torque sees) = caused by the wiring not (likely) due to torque being wrong. Just for the fun of it measure the voltage at your headlight connector vs the battery. Very often the headlights receive 1-2 volts less than measured at the battery-wiring degradation.

For the love of God man fix this tool so that it doesn't discard 3 hours of scanned data because the screen re-oriented itself when you picked the phone up. Major flaw!

U70%
by U####:

TorqueScan is potentially great Plug-In, but it takes hours... literally like 5 hours to get the deep scan to work as I understand it. There is no way I'm leaving my car's battery on to die with it scanning. If there was a way to save the scan so that it would run only when the car ran, it would be great. Also, I don't know how different the Saab CAN bus is, but I haven't been able to get any non-generic PIDs for MY'03. The whole Saab community is in need!

Hi good day I have a problem with my obdll socket device,  it doesn't seem to read my cars ecu anymore,   It worked perfectly fine, until just the other day,  What I normally do is plug it in my cars ecu socket, then open up the app on my smartphone, then it reades all the data of my car,  until the other day I did the same process,  but it says on my phone ecu not connected, please advise me to what the problem mite be

Great app. Have helped me diagnose issues on my last 3 cars, as well as family amd friends. Works great with the eBay bluetooth module.

This app. could be a 5 star rated app for sure with just a few more tweaks. As users are letting the developer know, but it seems as if developer doesn't care to even read the feedback from users. I like Torque Pro and several of the add-ons for it. BUT the Torque Development Team Really Needs to take the Users ISSUE'S Way More SERIOUSLY!

The torque scan app never finishes, doesn't continue where it left off and doesn't add any new PIDs to the available PIDs prior to its install.

It was interesting to find out what was available and what was not. Worked well.

U70%

It keeps saying it won't work without updating torque pro in the playstore but it is up to date?

Z70%

After a full TorqueScan (4hrs, 20min) TorqueScan returned 260 responses (113 of 260 were 0 [zero] value responses) Not interested right now in the response values. I want to know what was "scanned"? What is 221216, 2fc2c, etc...? 260 of them, what is the Command Function of those PIDs??? Does there exist a table to look up the mode $22 commands? Other than that, 3 stars for the abrupt exit out of the results page prior to being able to send in email just because the screen orientation changed (a few hours wasted because I picked up my tablet and the screen rotated). And, not sure exactly what the scan actually does (see above)? Does it update all the available selections in the Real time display on Torque? If I send the results to the developer what does he/she do with them? 2005 GMC Sierra WT, 4.3L, V6 Automatic

First of all let me say I absolutely love Torque Pro, but this add on not so much. I've used Torque for well over 3 years now and I've NEVER been able to do a complete scan (even on a 2 hr road trip) how long does it take to do a complete scan?

Use it regularly to monitor vehicles performance and diagnose almost all of the problems that are brought to me it has never pointed me in the wrong direction or given me wrong information unless it was failing a test that something else fails for and throws the other code...if that makes sense....

This is a PLUGIN, which you access through Torque Pro. Don't look for it in your app drawer. Just open Torque Pro.

I have used this app both personally and professionally for several years. many times I have used it in place of my professional scanner. it works every bit as good as my professional scanner without quite as much versatility. or basic diagnostics it is outstanding

For those of you 'less enlightened' users, this a plugin to the very excellent Torque app, NOT a stand-alone app! Since it is part of Torque, it does *not* have its own icon, so quit giving it a 1 star rating because you don't understand how to use it! For those that *do* understand the above, you'll find this to be a great add-in to Torque, letting you scan for all the PIDs your car has available to monitor. I'm running Torque OBD on a Samsung S4 with CM 12.1, Samsung Tab 3 7" stock, both are great.

Ian Hawkins probably got rich off this plug in alone. He deserves every penny... unlike greedy Chinese devs that charge for 1/2 functional apps... this guy changed hundreds of thousands people's lives for the better.

If you need to read you engine light codes and do any type of troubleshooting of your cars computer and it's sensors this is the app to get.

This app could be a 5 star rated app for sure with just a few more tweaks. As users are letting the developer know, not sure if developer reads the feedback though. I love Torque Pro & all the add-ons you can now get for it. I look forward to Future Updates developer. Hint, Hint...

During last four months of using this app I found that displayed data is faulty in comparison to real numbers. Gas consumption algorithm gives wrong numbers by 25% from real one. Multimeter shows 14.2-14.5 volts, at the same time Torque Scan shows 13.1-13.4 volts of the battery voltage.
