About SpeedHUD

Ever wanted a heads up display of your speed?

Speed HUD uses your GPS and phones screen to display your speed
You can reverse the text so you can put your phone on your dashboard at night and see your speed on your windshield, keeping your eyes on the road and not looking down at your speedometer

You can also:

* Log and export KML files to Google Earth

* Speech support - get speed and camera warnings (with appropriate database file)

See the 'Torque Pro' app for more dials/widgets and customisable dashboard layouts, HUD options, colours and themes!

Use this regularly when driving through average speed areas, I do this because my speedo under reads by about 10%. A couple of observations: 1.every speed above 60 turns red, regardless of high value set in settings. 2. Camera database? The link to read about putting a camera db on the phone 404's. 3. Colour/brightness: put some options in to customise (basic) speed display. 4. Option to change bearing to compass reading on basic display.

When I open the app I get a little grey pop-up box that reads press menu to change settings but there's no menu anywhere on the screen so how am I supposed to change or manipulate any of the settings??

V70%
by V####:

First thing it says when you open it is "press menu for settings" kinda hard to do on a S7 phone that doesn't have a menu button.

N70%
by N####:

Good app, but would be better if it supported phone without a menu button better.

Y70%

No head unit auto screen rotation. Who uses a smart phone to ñav anymore? Head unit support would make the effort to dnload worth it. 1star Ian...

I've had this app for a while. Developer updates are great, works awesome. Best app in this category. EVO 3d

Awesome concept! You're probably feeding the data to the local police department though!

M70%

Good but needs work. Graphs too small to see. Changeable colour would be good. G-force scale too large, should be 1.5G max

Needs to scale the G-meter to something more useful such as between 0 and 1G range for normal driving, and 0-1.5G for something racier.

Total rubbish. Compass rotated with the phone and speed never registered above zero

I like this app a lot more than other similar ones I have used. As others have said, it would be great to be able to change the color though, as the white gets tiring on my eyes at night. I also think changing the scale on the Gforces to 1.5 max would be good. Or make it an option, but I really don't know how many people pull 2 Gs or more in a car! (Not to say there aren't some that do, but not many!) I like having a compass a lot. It might be nice if it was a "floating ball" type compas instead of the needle style, but either way I like having it.

Worked great on all 3 different android phones I've had... Dead on as well. If it fails to register speed, restart app

D70%
by D####:

I have an Epic 4g and this worked the best out of three that I tried. I have to give them props. People might complain that the speedometer is off by a couple mph, but that's the nature of GPS! Seems very accurate, reverse mode works great. I'd like to see it communicate/update the speed a little faster, but that's probably my phone or the GPS Satellites it's connected to. Overall, I love this app.

I really enjoyed this HUD until I found that it used about 14% of my battery life, even when I haven't used it on that charge. Why does it need to run ALL the time?
