About SimpleFlash
SimpleFlash is an app that lets you use your smartphone as a flashlight. It is open source-software you are allowed to use, view, share and change without following any particular conditions (except the app's software license, which is set up to be as unrestricted as possible). It is also free of charge and comes with absolutely no need to view any ads or agree to any unreasonable or unexplained permissions. It is provided out of the conviction that everyone should be able to use software that does reliably and exactly what the user wants it to do.
Apart from the already mentioned obvious key function, this app offers a number of additional features to make it more convenient for the user, for example:
* Switch light with volume keys
* lock the screen (while it's still on)
* turn the light on at start / keep it on in background
* notification when the light is on
* "exit" button to finish the app immediately
(Almost) any of this features can be en-/disabled or changed via the settings menu.
Right now this app uses only one permission, namely
* Hardware controls: take pictures and videos.
This permission is only used to control the smartphone camera's flashlight, which unfortunately can't be accessed directly without accessing the camera as a whole. Nonetheless no pictures or videos are actually recorded by the app. Since this app is open source, you may review and even compile it's source code for yourself to be sure of that.
You may obtain a copy of this app's source code at https://github.com/Patneu/SimpleFlash .
