About openHAB

This is a native Android user interface application for openHAB - an open source home automation system. The open Home Automation Bus (openHAB) project aims at providing a universal integration platform for all things around home automation. It is designed to be absolutely vendor-neutral as well as hardware/protocol-agnostic. openHAB brings together different bus systems, hardware devices and interface protocols. Supported technologies include KNX, Modbus, DMX, Philips Hue, PLCBus, Sonos, Plugwise, IHC/Elko, RFXCOM, Homematic, Koubachi, Pulseaudio, Samsung TV, Bluetooth, One-Wire, Novelan, Asterisk, generic serial devices and many others. It supports all openHAB features plus NFC tags based sitemap navigation and item control, automatic discovery of your openHAB and remote connection back to your house over the Internet with my.openHAB service. openHAB is the integration and control point of your Smart Home. You will find openHAB at http://www.openhab.org/

Home automation made by a real enthusiast! After some issues with z wave, i got every thing controlled by openhab, offering enough interfaces depending on your skills.

Q70%

Works on Galaxy S5plus, but fails to connect on Galaxy S2 and Galaxy Tab3 (identical settings) while in the local net. So unfortunately my experience is a 66% failure. I guess the app incorrectly relies on something that isn't present on slightly older Android systems.

Q70%
by Q####:

Absolutely amazing. Allows us - home automation enthusiasts - to control anything we can dream of in a practical way with clean, neat and intuitive user interfaces. It takes a while to learn how to use OpenHAB, but is definitely worth it.

1 star less to motivate better graphs;)

Very cool app

B70%

Very comfortable

N70%

But currently the app crashes going in to grouped and framed menus deeper than the main page.

F70%
by F####:

Useful, but please add the option to switch off NFC as it keeps opening OpenHab instead of my diabetes scanner app (I have an NFC-connected blood monitor) and when I scan it, OpenHab pops up instead of my blood monitor app!

Q70%

My UI looks nothing like in the screenshots. why is that?

Q70%
by Q####:

App works great, but please give functionality to create widgets with switches on!

Y70%
by Y####:

This app is awesome.

K70%

This app, server and community will run ,interface and control just about anything out there...and if you are smart enough, you don't have to wait for somebody to solve your problem...I used to just google "openhab whatever binding" But since oh2...it's almost too easy!

Q70%
by Q####:

Good app! The new launcher icon is a bit smaller than other squared app icons..

T70%
by T####:

Great work!

Q70%

Excellent stuff, great versatility, therefore inevitably also somewhat complicated. If you want to be able to mix home automation hardware from different manufacturers, this is the tool to combine stuff into a single UI.

E70%
by E####:

Took me a while to figure out how to set this up, but that's no surprise given its flexibility in handling a wide variety of devices. Documentation isn't perfect, but you can get most of your answers from examples and forum discussions .

Update, demo mode works with app update, great job.Would be good but demo mode not working hence 1star for now

X70%

I installed the app on my stock unrooted phone. The app starts normally, keeps loading for a while and then nothing happens. Demo mode doesn't work. Tried checking/unchecking it in the settings menu and it still didn't work.

L70%
by L####:

Works out of the box, no problem. Last update seems a bit snappier too

G70%
by G####:

Could you add a setting to enable/disable notifications? Thanks

F70%
by F####:

It's a 3.5. Maybe a 4. If it supported multiple servers it wouldn't be less than a 4.5. Multiple sitemaps on the same server it'll see but I have to rely on 3hou.se to use my setup at work AND home without changing settings all the time. 3hou.se actually auto detects servers too. Can we get that here? Kthxbai!

U70%

Cannot connect remotely anymore, crashes when opening some grouped frames in the sitemap

T70%

Love this app...works flawlessly with my OpenHAB setup. Thanks to the developers...you're my hero's.

Still can't view charts remotely

This app has been running fine for months now in comb. with my home server. Not 5 stars since the aesthetics could be better.

B70%
by B####:

but switches are activated when you accidentally touch them during view scrolling. They shoul react on finger release, not on finger press, maybe...

Z70%
by Z####:

While it is still a work in progress, even the current functionality of this app is far superior to any other smart house app when it is pared with openhab.

T70%
by T####:

Great app. Very helpfull. Thanks to the developer.

Best Home Automation System

J70%

Unless you have MAJOR experience with whatever this is... you will never be able to use it. Yeah, download the designer. I am a well above average pc user, the designer might as well be chinese because I have no clue what any of it means. Basically, unless you have extensive home automation experience, don't even bother. This is in no way navigable for a newer and moderate user.

G70%
by G####:

Is it possible to have option for the older dark theme. This one is gray and there are blue lines above frame labels. I do not like the material design

Q70%
by Q####:

Good app, great updates. Would LOVE to see the events.log file in addition to the new Notifications.

Q70%

Couldn't live without it! Simple and effective interface to my openHAB server. Stable and reliable both at home and away when on mobile networks. Highly recommend.

Q70%

Could need zooming into the graphics.
