droid VNC server for Android
Do not Work... it mount the server in a IP address that is not the static ip of my wi-fi connection... and also in a wrong port... the app have a option to set the rigth port... but do not have a option for set the rigth IP... so is nothing i can do about it... Have a Help Option in te menu... but the programer don take the job of write any help inside theare... so it do not said anything useful inside theare... bad... bad... bad...
first install didnt work soo well. reinstalled then worked great (for use w/ TightVNC change the port to 5900) seems like you just have to resolve the reinstall issue and slowness via wifi. might also consider creating links to softbuttons...since you really kinda need them to move in and out of apps....but thats +1 kinda stuff not base function
App says "unsupported pixel depth". Please look into this issue, I would love to use the app. I had something similar a few years ago with a Windows Mobile phone I had and would love the same setup with my Note. I'm pretty sure it's due to the high resolution of the screen. I hope it's a simple fix. Doesn't work at all for me at this point. Four more stars when it simply works.
Very useful app: at last I can use my Android phone with a proper Model M keyboard, as it was meant to be :) Works great on my HTC Desire HD (ace) with CyanogenMod 7.1. (use "Settings / Language & Keyboard / Built-in Keyboard" to disable autocorrection on the VNC keyboard to avoid unwanted interference while typing.)
Does everything you want if u just ant to control your phone frm your comp. Installed wifi keyboard so that when typing the android one doesnt pop up so more screen space. You dont need it. This apps lets you type directly though. But gives you screen area. As mentioned :End Key = Power button Delete Key = Back button Home key = Home button Pg Up Key = Menu button Pg Dn Key = Dialer button ALSO right click is back.
Rooted CyanogenOS 13.0 (android 6.0.1). After granting root priveleges and hitting "Start", all i get is a message stating "Could not start server :(". More information (well - ANY information) would be useful. I also have no idea why there is an option for "Execute server as root" without an explanation. Either way, it doesn't work and there is no way to fault-find it.
Tried this app on a Galaxy Nexus running Jelly Bean 4.2. The App would run, and I could connect from the VNC client, however, nothing was displayed in the client. The client windows remained blank. When I tried the stop the VNC server, the app seemed to hang, so I had to 'force quit', after this the phone performance was greatly reduced, requiring a reboot to restore proper phone functionality.
I run this over usb, works brilliantly for screen and touch but the keyboard doesnt seem to work at all. Ive had a keypress sent to the phone once but thats it. Can a feature be added to disable the keyboard entirely allowing touch entry on the soft keyboard?
Works like a charm! I tried to use a browser (Firefox) as a viewer which did not work for me ("device refused connection") but using my standard vnc viewer (TightVNC) solved the connection problem. The device tested is running CyanogenMod Android 4.3.1 "Jelly Bean". Tests with other Android versions will follow. Thanks for a great job!
Some people gave it good review so it must work for someone! For me, worse than useless. It sort of almost works, i mean it connects and your screen comes up on the pc, but after that it basically does not work at all. Not only that but it screws up the phone so you have to reboot it. Try AIRDROID, much better.
Brilliant app. For all those saying 'I cant use it on my lockscreen' when trying to swipe unlock or enter unlock pattern/pin, remember - you must press the power button first (end key on your keyboard) just like you would if the phone were in your hand. Once you do this it works flawlessly. I am running CyanogenMod7.1(honeycomb) on HTC Desire.
HTC inspire HD running cms stable version of kitkay. Screen not displayed on pc although clicking in black makes phone respond. Tried all modes. Even tried w usb cable and adb forwarding. Still only black screen. Also locks out keyboard on dev when on.
I have a set top box and was looking for some way of controlling it from my PC via some kind of VNC or RDP. This could not start the server on my device.
Doesn't display the screen, but remote clicks and swipes work. Hopefully this will get fixed in future updates. Samsung Galaxy Express SGH-I437, CM10. | Doesn't start at all on my LG G4. After granting root access an error pops up saying could not start.
It seemed to cause my Minix Neo X7 to completely freeze especially when exiting the App and even the links offerd to provide develop feedback weren't working or available. Admittedly mine is a flashed device but it's a successful ROM and all other apps on it seem to work very well. I ended up successfully using TeamViewer with The QS Server - very usable.
Video sync issues. Locked up phone, had to pull battery. Sometimes has to be killed with task mngr and restarted. When it does work, the keyboard does not flush buffer real time...making use very tedious. Google issue for possible code fix...have not tired.
please stop giving negative ratings just because this don't work in your device. its an open source app instead of giving poor ratings try to report to developer doo that it might work in the future
I was using another VNC server app but found the phone was very laggy when there was a connection (Note 2). This app works fine for a connection and the speed of the phone does not reduce, but I have no keyboard control at all. I have tried end, home and other buttons but once i'm connected there is very little I can do without going back or home, but this seems to be across the board for any VNC server app I have tried. Perhaps it's because more expensive phones have capacitive keys instead of on-screen buttons for home and back? It'll be 5 stars if this compatibility is addressed, but otherwise the app is fairly flawless.
My phone's ROOTED. But still can't start server. I use VNC Viewer on my pc. And no solution found in the "how-to" page, since it tells the steps like nothing can go wrong. And the tutorial video is "private".
I was surprised to see it running on my phone when the ratings were so low. It works great, though a little jittery. You can use your mouse as a finger and operate the phone. I used VNC viewer in my laptop.
Not only does it not work as a VNC server, but it leaves device unusably slow until it is rebooted. I'm deleting it IMMEDIATELY. I only regret that Google doesn't allow 0 stars, because, sadly, this app is ☆☆☆☆☆, not ★☆☆☆☆. Sorry, José
The VNC server works great. But with following bug it is almost unusable. 1. It disable software keyboard completely, even after stopping the server. My device is a 4.0.4 generic device which has no option to disable "physical keyboard" so I have no workaround. 2. remote key input would be buffered and not displaying on host device until a mouse event. By combination of bug 1 and 2.. no typing could be made easily on the device.
Not bad but I'm having the same keyboard issue others have on my galaxy s3. You have to type a bit, then find a safe place to click on the screen to get the keys to send. It also doesn't work if the device screen is off but this may be the device not the app. In general I found it a bit slow and annoying but usable.
Worked on the phone in one go. Just ensure it is rooted. Also, loved the noVNC HTML 5 interface. That made it so much better to use instead of breaking your head to get java working on client PC. Anyone in the room can just join using a modern browser.
Did it work with zenfone 6 kitkat version?? Bcos i tried it but only show black screen on my pc while i remote the android device.. But it still send the command to my android device.. Any advice??
Absolutely amazing program. It saved my little toosh!!!!!! I would highly recommend this program to anyone or group of people needing to work more efficiently and effectively in their business. Fast, easy to use (if you're highly computer literate) and the results are tremendous!!! Thank you very much!!!!!!!
Tried using various graphics options to no avail... Please fix this Using 4.4.4 with a custom rom but I doubt that's the reason.
I installed it and started the service, then used a viewer on my Mac to connect to it, and all I got was a tall black window that still responded to clicks and drags on the phone. Couldn't see the phone screen on the computer. Three stars for halfway working.
I can see only black screen on pc.
After start the server the touch keyboard services stop working. So you need to restar the phone in order to use touch keyboard again. It connects but shows color lines instead of the screen, tried changing screen method but non worked. I think its abandoned project, since the last update was on 2012.
Love that the app has been updated since I last used it. Have a rooted HTCEvo4G, and the soft keyboard on the phone stops working after I start the server :'(
Amazing app, runs perfectly on my Galaxy Nexus and ASUS tablet. Response time is a bit sluggish but who cares! I haven't found a practical use for this app just yet, but i love having the ability and this does it nicely!
Rooted Asus TFT300, installed and the server continuously states couldn't start server.
Keyboard input not submitted to phone until clicking by mouse. Please fix it.
So glad to have this, I plan on leaving my phone unlocked around certain people and see what happens, thank you! :).. ok side note on my htc rezound the keyboard won't work at all... So maybe add hey functions to viewer somehow ? Thank you this is still a great app I imagine if I had a aosp Rom or wasn't using a Dell I'd have no problems lol
If I'm lucky maybe 1 in 50 characters will show up.
Having an original HTC Evo 4G (Supersonic) with a soft keyboard that has small buttons (Hacker's Keyboard), I find it useful for programming on my phone, or just goofing off with things like "cAndy Apple". Modern kids have no idea how great pixels were back then (oh how I miss turning "blocky" NES Mario into a fluid image in my head those years ago). (ran out of space for "+1" reasons *sigh* ... had 5 though)
I tried running this on my samsung galaxy note 3 with root privilages and it doesn't work, if you can fix this with an update that would be fine but until then I wont give 5 stars for this crap.
I used this regularly on a Galaxy Nexus running Android 4.2. Occasionally the server would crash, but not a big deal so I give it 4 star. It is not currently working on my Nexus 5 with Android 4.4. Really hope it's updated to work on the newer devices/OS.

This is difficult code to write, for sure. Full Linux has become somewhat hardware agnostic while Android has to cope with enormous differences from device to device including proprietary drivers. GPlay's star system is flawed. Either this app works for your device or it does not. Alas I am giving good software (that worked on an old device) the wrong rating no matter what I do.
