Everyone needs an app like this. Just wish it would automatically send a copy to your email address and a clear back up. And what are all the bad reviews always from Google user

It looks like nationwide ACLU has these Apps. through state affiliates, with not much difference other then skin and which server they connect to. But NY's is v1.05 and 3 yrs old. CA's is up to 1.1 and updated 3 times this month.

If you enabled the auto-screen lock option in this app you will not be able to uninstall without first revoking administration rights to the app.

Had to install and open to read the terms of agreement, anything recorded is not your property and goes straight to the rights of nyclu. You cannot download it to your phone, social media or any other device other than this application. And now it will not uninstall -_-

Sounds like some PD folks trying to make everybody feel like they can't uninstall this. I downloaded it just to see if I can install it, uninstall works just fine.

Never had any legal problems, and hopefully I won't need this ever, but I have a newborn so I'm not taking any chances

My son and his friend were stopped for no reason whil waitng for bus to go home. My son called his mom and the officer snatched his cellphone from him. He ask the officers why he was being stopped ans was told to shut the 'f...k' up. They went thru their wallets,wrote down their names,,then released them without any explanation . They got angy when they asked for their badge number [they were plainclothes]. The boys were shaken and upset. They're both 17 and hispanic..never been in trouble.

Great app....really needs a strong push to reach critical mass though. Would be great if there was a feature showing a map with geotags for previous stop and frisk incidents. Could help identify which neighborhoods/precincts seem to be the worst offenders. Could also post map on NYCLU website.

Finally remembered why it doesn't uninstall easily, it's set as a device administrator as a precaution against some grimy cop taking it off a phone to disable recorded content. I'm taking it off my cell, but only b/c I haven't needed to use it, thankfully. Cop lovers, I'm sure no one has harassed you yet, you probably live in all white neighborhoods. Get a clue, NYC is not just you guys. Thank the Gods. Go ahead and flag me for saying.the word 'white'. Punks.

I'm pretty sure if the cops are not doing anything wrong, being recorded shouldn't be any sort of obstacle to doing their jobs. The police have proven again and again that if no one is watching, they are apt to misbehave. What a sad statement on our society that we need this sort of watching and reporting on our own officers of the law. Thanks to this app for making it easier to protect ourselves from those who should be protecting us.

First - the app is a great idea. It looks pretty nice, and I appreciate the information given as well. It's important to know certain things, and the fact this is all packed into the app is fantastic. Second - while the UI looks nice, it does look a little cluttered. Perhaps something more minimal, more clean. Similar to most recent ICS-style apps (I'm biased) Also - change the permissions so this can be uninstalled. While I have no intention to, I'd prefer having that freedom. Locking the app to prevent such things is understandable considering the reason behind it, but that's not something most people would willingly do. Any app should allow this basic feature. It also seems counterintuitive. Second - if you're going to write a review, let it be productive. Simply writing why this is a stupid app, or why "ya'll hate on police until you get robbed" or something is just ignorant. This is a real issue in NYC and it needs to be checked. The NYPD is not above law, and things of this nature should (hopefully) remind them to stay within the boundaries of the legal system they're supposed to be using to the public's benefit, to "serve and protect". Don't be a troll. Or do it elsewhere.

Lots of fascists badmouthing this app because they like a police state. If you want to uninstall, make sure to force close the app in Manage Apps function first.

@ Joe ... I'm the son of a NYPD officer. Stop and frisks are unconstitutional. Without probable cause, a peace officer cannot do it. Wait until you get treated like a perp then you'll reconsider you're stance on the subject. @ Kiandon, you're an idiot too. A$$clown.

I think its a good idea to have an app like this, you never know what you see the NYPD doing these days.

I was in a group that was stopped and was questioned, while people were staggering in the streets, drunk from the nearby bars but yet we were stopped. After I told the cops I have every right to vid record they lowered their aggression & let us go. It's always people in good neighborhoods who swear its just, like the idiot Joe who posted a comment on this. Karma is a B**ch, so now you will get a taste of it. Good luck to you.
