What are users saying about Hermes - Material IRC Client

by O####:

What? Tried to connect to my own ZNC bouncer. Failed silently but used up 585MB of data over LTE?! Great. Half my new data pack. Gone within a minute.

D70%
by D####:

Looks and works fantastic. Some suggestions though. Would like the option to change the text size. Option to add extra words to notify/highlight. And I really wish for an option to have a chat bubbles-type layout, similar to Whatsapp and Hangouts. EDIT: No updates in ages.

D70%
by D####:

I can't get rid of the ads. I told the developer months ago and they said they'd fix it. It has been months, and still not fixed. Everytime I go to buy the 'remove ads' it says transaction declined, yet I can buy other stuff. Poor support.

D70%
by D####:

Go to their github. Hasn't been maintained or worked on since 2015. Three devs, zero f*cks. Its been abandoned with hundreds of open bug reports.

D70%
by D####:

Please please please add an ignore feature. Beautiful interface, also the only IRC app that's not a battery vampire.

E70%
by E####:

The app often crashes when disconnecting from a server.

F70%
by F####:

This is a great IRC client, with one exception. It absolutely needs a nick/channel completion button.

T70%
by T####:

This is a great app. It's material design interface is beautiful and it is super functional. They added all the things IRC clients need, even some that most don't have, like executing certain commands on joining, as well as automatic login to NickServ and more. I can't reccomend this app enough.

C70%
by C####:

Definitely one of the better looking IRC clients, but it could benefit from a few interface improvements. For instance, launching from the persistent notification should bring you back to the channel. Also, it would be nice to see an unread count there. It does have issues claiming you are online when in fact you have been disconnected.

T70%
by T####:

I've noticed under some scenarios it doesn't reconnect even that you press connect button, only workaround is to restart an app. ThIs happens when on mobile data and at some point you get no reception so it disconnects and then doesn't reconnects. Update: my bad it's just takes some time, longer than usual hence confusion

T70%
by T####:

I'm on a nexus 6, freshly set up after a factory data reset, configured two IRC channels and had them working until the app began crashing. Now it won't load at all, just crashes. I'd send feedback through the official channel but I have no access to it.

T70%
by T####:

This client has a slick theme but it can be very clunky at times, it's hard to get to a query for example. Does use fullscreen ads but they seem to only show up when you change the settings. A pretty solid irc client choice.

T70%
by T####:

Some negatives: Lack of a dark theme, ads, persistent is notification always visible, uses quite a bit of RAM. I'm sticking with Atomic IRC for now.

J70%
by J####:

It is much better than most of the clients out there, not to mention the excellent interface. But few problems are: (1) would be nice if I can open a channel from the main page where it shows the currently connected channels. (2) same with opening the window of private message. (3) Consumes high amount of memory :( - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Apart from these few, it is a great one! Hope stuffs get fixed soon!

B70%
by B####:

Other clients have this feature (especially PC ones) would be convenient for first time irc users (some channels will not work unless your verified which is frustrating for first timers) and it needs a dark theme

O70%
by O####:

Really pretty, but extremely bad performance. Locks up constantly. And, when connecting to a ZNC server, spams me with playback of already-seen messages.

T70%
by T####:

It looks nice, but 4 months without updates and crashing as much as it does, it's not really worth it

T70%
by T####:

Why can we not use Google Play Balance aka Play Rewards money to remove ads?

T70%
by T####:

Looks and works fantastic. Some suggestions though. Would like the option to change the text size. Option to add extra words to notify/highlight. And I really wish for an option to have a chat bubbles-type layout, similar to Whatsapp and Hangouts. EDIT: No updates in ages.

T70%
by T####:

Won't allow me to disable ads. Every payment method is listed as declined even though I was able to make other purchases through the play store. Uninstalled.

T70%
by T####:

Cannot hide tray icon and work in background. Please, fix it

T70%
by T####:

Great app except for the crash that is caused when trying to change your nick.

Identified as malware by AVG.

T70%
by T####:

Very nice but please allow the predictive suggestions when using Google Keyboard to show when in a room

T70%
by T####:

Works.

C70%
by C####:

Like when I double tap on a username it should be mentioned or do reply. Another annoying thing is that I have to tap three times to get to the page. It should be on the hamburger menu or be somewhere for quick access. Other than that fantastic. #Edit : crashes when I try the "/list" command. Please fix ##edit : why is it so memory hungry? Please make it lightweight or at least optimize for lower end device

C70%
by C####:

The menu (where it asked me to add a server) doesn't support landscape mode... This is a pain for tablet users.. :( Also, any chance you can add an option to specify channel specific notification behavior (sound or vibrate when a new msgs in that channel occurs)? :)

Doesn't work well with bouncers. Or, at least not ZNC. It connects fine but any channels you are in will not show up nor can you join them manually. If fixed, this would probably be my favorite client.

C70%
by C####:

Better then most of the irc clients out there for Android

K70%

please i want this app to work!

What's happening here :(

Q70%
by Q####:

This looks like a nice looking irc app, only problem is I can't get it to show me the channels I'm connected to nor can I get it to connect to my bouncer. Is this app exclusive to lollipop and above?

S70%
by S####:

I love the design and layout of the GUI, but um...how do I join a room?

Q70%
by Q####:

Great design, all the features I need. Keep up the good work.

C70%

Settings for SASL and multiple nicks do not save. Unable to specify custom highlights.

F70%
by F####:

your preview screenshots show notifications for activity, but I don't seem to be getting anything like that. working great otherwise.
