Banshee Remote for Android
Will give it 5 stars if I get it working but so far all this stuff is a no go :(
also with Rhythmbox and the appropriate PlugIn.

love it. Took a bit of work to make install it on linux
Did the trick
Linux mint usr likes this
The library seems extra buggy, it shows artists and albums that I used to have on my iPhone (never on my laptop). Weird? Also can't select a song on my phone that is outside of the currently selected artist or album on banshee. Otherwise I can browse by songs and works very well, cool volume control as well. A widget would be awesome an awesome addition.

Wont work. Crap.
If you're techie enough to setup the banshee remote listener extension, you'll love the relative ease of this little app. Next/Prev/play/pause works great. Phone's volume rocker controls volume (but no ui element to show you it's working). The ux around browsing the banshee db is a little rough, and it doesn't seem to allow selecting a different song.
Thanks for the great app. This and cmus remote ake managing music easy.
Great. Simple and focused. Exactly what I was looking for. Tx for your effort!
I am so happy to see someone developing mobile apps that are compatible with Linux. Thank you so very much! I agree that it is a bit advanced for those new to the OS, but it works. Keep it up!!!
Took less than a minute to configure, and has all the options you need. Simple, but light and functional.
Works well. Just wish I could name the server and get rid of old servers
Very cool app. I love how linux is finally getting into the light. This app is great if you have some general linux knowledge to get it going. Only thing I'd say is to have better integration into Banshee's categories (like videos, playlist, ect). Would give 5 stars if it was a little more easier to get it connected to network. Overall very good remote app.
It is fairly basic in functionality, but it works, which is nice. A worthwhile pet project to take up. Thanks.

This lightweight application is very useful. But maybe for better user experience I hope it'll keep in standby mode (and minimized) after I close the main window. I also noticed it asks me to make sure banshee database is on my SD card while I have no option to check it directly from the application. I think this issue is come with Android recent permission to write the SD card. IMHO, it'll be better if user could choose where to put the DB.
After just a few configurations, everything works as it should. It has everything essential you'd expect to have in a remote.
Really useful and simple. Great job! Only thing missing is a volume control
Extension is in the desktop Banshee extensions directory, but I still can't activate it in Banshee. I noticed all other .dll files say "program"next to them but the banshee remote says "binary".
buggy and doesn't work very well.
cause your screenshots are of an ubuntu os, dlls are for windows guys........... cant get this to work for nothing, it would be nice to have a lil more depth to your instructions...... Also I have no extension folder for banshee 2.4.1 i do however have a plugin folder, but since the extension offered at your site is a dll and not an xml kinda useless, you might also want to note that ubuntu has completely changed its user folder setup and there is no lib folder either, atleast not as of 12.04.......
Works very well on my SF. Particularly enjoy the library interface. Only thing I would say is that it would be nice to have visual feedback when changing the volume, but that's probably just me being picky..
Love the app, but had some initial troubles getting it through the firewall. The solution was to add the following iptables command: iptables -A INPUT -m state --state NEW,ESTABLISHED, RELATED -j ACCEPT good luck!
March 10 update can't be downloaded. It's an awesome app, but it has problems with a firewall even if the port is open. It would also be great if I could see the playlists and that the sync would happen automatically. Maybe u sing rsync so I don't have to manually sync the database everytime I add a song
This works very well but I can only move within whatever album I have selected on my banshee device. If I have it on "all albums" I can smoothly switch though.
This app is simply amazing. I had to learn what root access is. Also learned how to open and close ports on my computer and why Linux is awesome. Through this app I learned a lot more about my computer which is great for me to start college in the fall. Awesome app minus the fiddling there should be a Q&A forum for it.
Amazing, works perfect over wi-fi hotspot! Love it!
If you are on Ubuntu these are the UFW rules you will need sudo ufw allow from 10.0.0.0/24 to any port 8484 sudo ufw allow from 10.0.0.0/24 to any port 7 Relplace 10.0.0.0 with your lan ip range
Follow your instruction but the result "host unreachable". Banshe run on oneiric x64 with 2.2.1 version. Have opening 8484 port in my desktop
Banshee remote is an awesome app. But to be truly practical it should support: (in order of importance): Play lists: Play an existing playist in Banshee; Play queue: (add songs/albums/artists to queue; deleting items from queue) Then this app could really allow to remote control music from android tablet or phone.
Took a little tinkering to get root access but is awesome once you get it to work. Can banshee do air tunes cause that would be awesome!!
Lightweight and works great. Running it in Xubuntu 11.10 from my thunderbolt. Very nice, simple GUI.
Would be cool to have an ability to tell it to always sit in a notification bar, so that I could access it anytime... Great app, thanks!
Nice app. If you have firewall issues, make sure the TCP ports 7 and the remote port (8484 by defalt) are open.

Very good functionallity with simple interface. The wireless syncing works great: synced all my 40GB library in 2 minutes. Nice idea to put the volume control on the phone's volume button.
