Northern train tickets & times

I liked to watch the train on its route and being able to gauge its delay, I can't do this anymore after the new update. Also recent searches disappeared. I regularly check trains on one route only and it would be helpful if there was a favorite or most searched option so I don't have to keep putting same stations in every time. Bring back the previous version

I have to use this app every day. Since the update I'm not able to tell which tickets are available on mobile which makes it much slower to purchase. UI is not clear whether singles or return tickets are being bought. It's just doesn't work as well as the last version - please please change it back or fix it quick!

Great app since the update. Looks so much cleaner and modern. I have taken a star away because it is not easy for the ticket checkers to check the ticket. I feel sorry for them guys. It would a really good idea of you could press on the ticket, making it go full screen. This would make it easier for the folks checking the tickets.

What have you done? You take an app that works well and make a complete mess of it. Did you do any user testing? Not with real users because they would have told you that it was awful. Reinstate the old app and employ someone who knows how to design a new one.

The recent update has made an already clunky app worse. It now matches Northern service as another irritation I have to endure. The update lost all of my details. I had to reset my password but it didn't then force me to change my password once I logged on. Also why can't I save a ticket and just keep ordering the same thing. Most users will take the same journey every day.

Ever since the update I've been unable to use this app well at all. It works VERY slowly and I'm often finding I'm buying tickets on the app and then there not appearing in my ticket wallet. As well as this it never seems to save my journeys and the railcard I use, like it did on the previous version.

You can't book an open return. There seems to be no way to remember favorite journeys or use most recent. The select time clock is fiddly for 12 or 24 hour selection. It's clunky and time consuming. Better off using the ticket office if you have one.

Garbage since the update. Doesn't hold my shortcuts in live train information and only tells me my route now so I don't know if the trains been delayed early on which is a good indication of whether it's going to actually be on time or not. It's as useful to me as northern rails reliability is!

Clear whoever built the new app didn't do any user testing. I've never seen an update get it so wrong. It's poorly designed, no longer remembers previous journeys, entering info is convoluted, old tickets stay at the top so you have scroll down to get the current ticket. Shocked at how bad this is, if there was an option to use the old version I'd take it!

Terrible since the last update. When waiting for a train, you can no longer check which point that train is currently at on its journey - this used to be very useful. If you close the app and reopen it, it completely resets and doesn't remember what you were looking at 5 seconds ago. When you search for stations it doesn't automatically recommend the stations you use EVERY day. Very annoying. Seems the update has just removed a few key, helpful features and replaced them with nothing.

Just tried to do a simple search for a train tomorrow and it wouldn't allow me to select the time I wanted. Obviously not tested properly before it went live. The previous version worked just fine. You must be emplying rank amateurs to develop this.

Useless. Some times without warning does not give you the option of electronic tickets. When you can get them it takes 30s to open tickets even when downloaded on device. Does not store popular journeys. Developers should be sacked. Revert to old version that worked please.

Why did you change it, it wasn't broken. Put live times back to how it was before, I now have to constantly retype the live times I need rather than select from past selections and where's the whole journey, now I can't see where my delayed train is and whether I should go for the next train. Live trains don't show all available routes either. Ruined a really good function.

Nice looking app but not useful for me as a regular commuter. Doesn't remember previous stations and times, so I have to keep entering the same information, and there doesn't seem to be a way to buy multiple tickets in one go.

Was great before the update, everything worked as it was supposed to. Best function was the mobile ticket meaning I don't have to worry about there being a queue at the station in the morning or if I'm running late. However, after update, I can no longer get mobile updates which makes this app completely useless to me!!

This was a good app until the last update! Now it no longer remembers my railcard or any of my previous journeys, so quite long-winded for each new ticket.

Can't find open returns. Have to go through the whole process of almost paying for a ticket before it tell you if it's a collect or mobile ticket. Useless app. Previous update was much better.

App doesn't store any live train information. You have to constantly re input the details and can't save any favourites. I'm sorry but the app is now simply mirroring the actual train service. Pretty poor.

Hate the update. It was a lot easier to track the trains on the previous version. Also if you clicked on the live train times you could see what station the train was at and how late it had been at previous stations. I won't be using it as much now. It also doesn't save you previous searches on live times.

A useful app ruined. Virgin app went the same way some time ago. You are stuck with this, it will not be changed or improved. The old style app is still available with Cross Country. Not sure for how long as it looks as if this awful update is being rolled out across the board.

Great yet another operator has chosen to change to this god damn clunky, slow, confusing and complicated ticket app!! Who is responsible for this sack them immediately, and bring back the simple to use, old app, until then I'm going to find another app to use... Again!!!

Lost favourite station list and no longer shows complete train journey from origin to termination point which was one of the most useful features in showing how your train is (or isn't) running. It wasn't broken so why try to fix ?

Which idiot thought this was worth developing? Removed all the good stuff like live times and made it into a slow clunky app that loses all your routes.

Before the update this was the only app I used to get me to work on time every day. Now it's complete rubbish. Revert back to the original format.

Horribly broken since the update. I now have to enter return journey and railcard info every time, it was saved before. Easy to forget. Long pause when clicking "Tickets" now, embarrassing when waiting at turnstile. No more open return option. Older tickets appear at the top (though not always?) meaning you have to scroll down for new tickets, not very nice to see an expired ticket when you're looking for your current one. Please please look at all this feedback and fix it, the update is a huge step back.

The new app is horrible it takes ages to load and is not user friendly. Please return to the previous version which was quick and easy to use. Good news the Cross country app is the same as the old northern

Was pretty good but the update is awful. Can't save favourite routes, doesn't always let you buy m-tickets, open returns have gone and much slower. I'd uninstall except my station doesn't always have an open ticket office...

Recently updated and it is now completely confusing and frustrating to use. Use a ticket machine instead. Far quicker.

Northern had a very good app, easy to use and understand. They have replaced it with this: full of ambiguity and very difficult to use. It is lousy and matches the rest of Northern.

8th November train strike yet this apps states that the normal train that I would catch is running go job I dont know different. Please change it back. Should inform you of how many carriages are running on each train fed up of waiting for only 2 carriages to turn up and not getting on so late for work when you can make alternate arrangements would be a great help.

Awful since the last update used to be able to track where train had come from in the case of delays so at least you knew it was on its way and find live train times section now seems more fiddly please change it back.....

Awful since the update, can't even save journeys so I'm having to re-type the exact same journey in every time I want to use the app.

Was fine before the update. Now can't buy tickets! Pointless. Use the national rail app instead

Very poor update . Now unusable as the horrendous time widget does not work . Need to be more agile here folks and get it updated fast !!

Update is awful. Meant to be mobile app but now larger icons/buttons have gone defeats the object and is difficult to read and use. As mentioned by others useful features such as showing the full journey on live train times has gone together with the ability to tap on any intermediate station to check connections has gone. Live departures also no longer retains details for future use. Now unable to log on despite correct user details being repeatedly entered. Will not be trying again in order to use ticket facility until it is improved to have the functionality of the previous version

Loved the app before update then they changed the look and now hate it. Put the live time back the way they were so you can see the whole journey not just the station your at

The new layout doesn't save searches, show you where the train is and if your train is late the app doesn't even show it that train. It just gives you the times for the next one. Worse update ever.

You wiped all my settings and prevent me from saving favourite destinations. Fix it please. I cannot use half design app. Why did you deploy it?

More or less unusable now since the update. Someone got paid for this also can you believe.

This is terrible since the update, was it designed by someone who drives to work! Have to re-key the same info every day, can't see if the train left on time from its origin. Please improve asap.
