Explore NOAA's NDBC buoys and set a homescreen widget to stay up-to-date on your favorites. I built this to stay on top of the surf but it would also be great for boaters, fishermen or weather geeks.
To add the widget to your homescreen you must go to the widget section of the app list. Some phones also allow you to add widgets by long-clicking on your homescreen as well.
On some phones the widget doesn't immediately show up in the widget list after installation. If it doesn't show up in the list after installation you can try waiting a while or if that doesn't work, restarting the phone. The widget should show up then.
Right now the widget only shows wave height and period. I'm planning on updating it with the option to show swell and wind data as well. I also want to show wave direction in the widget, as well as set up customizable alerts when a certain height/period is reached. Stay tuned for those updates.

Two stars for the idea but, create widget with no info display and crashes when trying to refresh it to get the info. I will check back to see if it has been updated.

Excellent app; well-designed, functions well, and no ads of any kind. I hope developer keeps this updated. Water temperature on the widget would be a plus. Thanks for a good app David.

This is actually a pretty good basic app to read the buoys. It's faster/leaner than my current favorite and I will probably use this one just for that. As for the widget, as a swimmer, I really care about water temperature, and it's useless without it. I'd echo the request for multiple buoys, and would love for a setting about what data to show on the widget. Also, the temperature graph is broken and shows only zeros.

Only wish is that I could have multiple widgets so I can monitor several buoys at once. One widget is not enough for Santa Cruz because we pick up both south and north swells

Like the simple interface, seems like previous issues in reviews have been resolved. It would be good to add wave direction to widget.
