About Encdroid
Encdroid is a file manager application for Android devices to keep your files encrypted on Dropbox, Google Drive or the local storage of the device. It is compatible with EncFS so volumes created with Encdroid can be accessed on Windows/MacOS/Linux desktop and laptops and vice versa.
Supported operations include creating new volumes, importing existing files into volumes, opening files inside volumes by launching the chosen viewer application, creating directories, cut/copy/paste files and directories from one location to another within a volume, renaming files and directories, exporting files and directories from a volume onto the local device etc.
Explanation of permissions:
* Storage: Used for viewing and exporting files to the SD card.
* Network: Needed to access Dropbox and Google Drive.
* Prevent sleeping: Some encryption operations can run for a long time and take even longer if the device is sleeping so Encdroid temporarily prevents the device from going to sleep.
* Manage accounts / Use accounts: These are needed to link against a Google account and access Google Drive.
Since Encdroid is open source, it is possible for anyone to audit the source code by visiting the GitHub repository or even build their own copy of the application for increased peace of mind. See https://github.com/mrpdaemon/encdroid for the source code and contribution information.
This application includes cryptographic software. The country in which you currently reside may have restrictions on the import, possession, use, and/or re-export to another country, of encryption software. The U.S. Government Department of Commerce, Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), has classified this software as Export Commodity Control Number (ECCN) 5D002.C.1, which includes information security software using or performing cryptographic functions with asymmetric algorithms. The form and manner of this application makes it eligible for export under the License Exception ENC Technology Software Unrestricted (TSU) exception (see the BIS Export Administration Regulations, Section 740.13) for both object code and source code.

Super it works while cryptonite didn't. 4 stars cause can't import files from SD and haven't found option to mount where I want (or even the mount folder). Also you should add an option import and remove (remove the original files that have been imported). Finally create a menu so other apps can share their files with you through send menu... Super job

Great for editing secure text files stored on Google Drive! Supports external SD card now. I just wish it could sort files by date and decryption ran faster, but I can't complain.

Files opened from the app in another application are copied to encdroid folder. These files are not deleted when volume is locked again. So there is risk that unencrypted version of file remain on phone. Also volume is not automatically locked on timeout. Thats another risk

Unfortunately I was not clever enough to create a volume on an SD card even if it should be supported according settings. This on Samsung Tab S 8.4 with Lollipop 5.0.2.

Can only import files from the internal sdcard. There seem to be no way of switching to the external sdcard.

Can't use sd card, so useless for me. App creator says it is a limitation of google API's, but there are plenty of apps that can access my sd card. But maybe that is because my device is rooted. If that is it, then add support for rooted devices please.

Error: "Unknown name algorithm in config file: nameio/block32". I received this when trying to open a volume with block32 algorithm. I have a different volume that opened with no issues. Please add support.

Added a new volume, deleted single file from other vol, leaving one file in old volume. Cant unlock, cant delete, stuck. Always have a backup tho. Had to delete app and restart whole process...more on sep 23 - have installed this thing 5 times and it still doesnt work right and no docs,examples at all

When you import files, the browser confines you into /mnt/sdcard0 and doesn't let you read the external SD card. Ridiculous that it hasn't a mount-independent file reader.

I've been searching for an app that can open the encrypted Dropbox volume I created with ubuntu. Would be nice to have an option to lock the app with a PIN!

Hi. I love the app and how it works when uploading to dropbox. I use dropsync so all the time my SD card is synced, however, is there a more friendly way this app can be used on my phone like a pin so I can keep access to my files in plain text on my SD until I lock my files instead of having to download them each time? When you have movies and music it can get very long. This is the only thing I would change. Keep the files encrypted but on my SD decrypt the files until I lock them away again

No other app that I have found encrypts files directly to Google drive and requires no third party account. This app is great. It is working perfectly. However, the file explorer is lackluster. Also, it doesn't allow access to external sdcard.

If you accidently enter the wrong password, this app will simply crash. Then it crashes anytime you attempt to open it again.
