Simple Notepad

Allows me to set path to my SD card (/storage/46DF-E13D), but when I perform an export nothing is placed there, even though the app indicates the export was successful. Fix that, and you've got a 5 star app.

My best discovery in text/ notes editing. The perfect app, customisable; not too much but enough which makes it great. Just one thing if possible Devs, is it possible to be in preview/view mode as default when clicking on a note? So that with a double-tap only we would then pass to edit mode. Also "hidable" top action bar when writing?.. Thanks a lot and don't go changing or adding some dumb features like cloud or share or whatever because it would ruin the magnificent & quite unique essence of your app. Keep it simple, keep it light just the way it is. Internet permission removed, thanks! Raising to 4 stars. My only complaint is the backup/export/archive functions are confusing because they are similar (overlapping features). Also did a restore recently out of files I had renamed and copied to my phone and all I was presented was dates to pick from (and some were the same). Showing the names of the files would be better.

::sigh:: if only i could bulk delete and bulk move to folder.. (keyword bulk - that's how much I use it) best web screenshotter I've used yet with several phones over the years.. love the font options, widgets, etc

I thought it was good until a message came up saying it had stopped working. When I reopened the app the work I'd supposingly saved was missing. Complete waste of time.

Yikes!! Really like the app, but the default white background with a white font makes my titles invisible. I was in panic, because I couldn't see the title I thought everything was lost.

After trying other notepad apps, this one is easily the best choice. Full set of necessary features. This app is so reliable and helpfull. It's fast, and saves everything automatically, and it's files are backed up and accsessible. It is very upfront and honest. It makes life better, no joke. One of my favorite aps, and i use it daily. Thanks a ton!!

If you use this app to securely lock details, stop using it. It does NOT lock your text files because you can 1. View locked files in one of the widgets that came with the app and 2. View the documents using a file explorer because the data is stored in a .txt file and in plaintext. Massive fraud.

This is the first app I had to comment on. I've never seen a simpler better thought out app in my life. First off the permissions are very few and reasonable and I don’t see ads. It almost sells itself short with the name Simple Notepad because of the amount of customization and control you have. Microsoft word doesn’t have this much customization. This is an honest review I’m just a guy trying to make sense of my world but I had to comment on this app someone apparently worked very hard on it. I would recommend it for business users for the functionality and to my own mother for the simplicity of use. This notepad is highly customizable from the functionality of every part of the looks, font size, background etc. You can create folders and move notes between folders, auto create checklists and organize them in any way.This app has a word count, a word search, calendar integration you can color titles and search for files based on several options like the color. You can password protect or hide even documents. Import/export sd files even clean backup and auto zip. This has more functionality than I’ll use and sets a new standard. Just try it, it’s more than you will expect from a notepad. I can't comment on the stability having just installed it but I'm willing to go on the ride because it looks like it’s worth it. If this had a spell check/grammar check it be insane and Id beg to have this on my pc.In fact please make a windows version.

Overall good experiences with this app. If I could change one thing, it'd be the lack of ability to recover a password. You password protect important things, and the fact that there's no way to recover or change the password is ridiculous.

Would be 5 stars if I could make nested lists!! I have downloaded heaps of note apps to see what they're like, and always come back to Simple Notepad. I love it, and no matter how many others I try, I always miss the ease and simplicity of this one! My partner is jealous though, because it doesn't seem to be available for new downloads - is this a known issue?

God, I accidentally deleted this app and my notes are also gone.. please is there any way I can get them back. They were so important!! I will change the rating to 5 if I get them ;)

Aug. 15, 2016: Just noticed that, whenever I open a file, the cursor automatically jumps to the bottom of the document rather than staying at the top. Mildly annoying. Please investigate.

I used simple notepad for a couple years until I upgraded to a new phone. I did my backups, saved to thumb drive, copied to new phone snz files. I wasn't able to recover my files. I moved to another text editor.

App is now broken by Google's screen overlay permission settings. Since you cannot give the app the required permission (setting is greyed out), it simply will not run. Pity. It was a good app, now ruined by Google.

LG G6 Black...... Any App on Google Play Store that has far too many Ads is totally unacceptable. I should write more reviews on this matter, however fact being time does not permit. So I simply delete the darn thing and quickly forget about it.

Needs work. App doesn't want to close. Also you should have a close or exit button. Nerve-racking when an app fails to work like it should.

I've been using this app for a long time. Primarily for the checklist. Major help with organizing tasks. Love the options for creating color widgets. Also love that the app doesn't ask for alot of permissions!

Instant uninstall because it "Needs" to access my files.. no.. I just want a notepad to write notes... That's all. My pictures have nothing to do with whatever it is I plan to write down...

My child uninstalled the app from my phone, I was so worried but as I reinstalled the app all my data came back. Good work.

On the newest Android version the background and font colour are white, which makes editing notes impossible. Changing background colour crashes the app. Putting a widget on the home screen crashes the app too.

Hello. Please make the phone "back" button to work as getting back to folders view (when located in any of a folders) Working with folders is much much comfort and useful. Thank you! p.s. Actually, would be great to see unfoldered notes at the same pane along with folders, like in browsers...u no. Have a great day!

Its great!! The only downfall is if you create a passcode, and you loose/cant remember the password. You loose all of the data/ink, tracks verses & all.

Great app, BUT, if you want a white background list, no opinion to have black font for the main list. Wrote to the developer but ignored!

While trying to copy & paste my note to FB I accidentally erased it! I have found a previous version but my phone won't open an SNZ file. Help!!!! Please!

Deleted before I even fully opened the app. You DON'T NEED access to my media to work. You are supposed to be a simple note app You aren't as important as you think you are.

This is one incredible app. It's very simple yet feature-packed with a lot of options. You can use your wallpaper as background for everything inside app, or change background to white or black for notes, to-do and main screen of the app (each can have different option set). It also allows you to lock the app or each note individually. It's completely free and without any ads.

First of all, NO ADS!!! It automatically saves so you don't loose all your data from an accidently click of the home button. You can see your deleted files in the Archived folder under the Simple Notepad file on your phone incase you accidently delete something. It lets you use emojis in titles w/o trouble and you can put a password on notes. Your phone background is automatically the background while using the app which is really professional looking but you can change it in the settings if you wish to.

Wonderful app for taking notes and checklists in general but the import export functionality needs to be improved a lot. When I imported notes and checklists into my new phone using the app's import function it did not import in the same order as my old phone, it removed all the priorities and it removed all the folders I had arranged them in. It also has no way to import app settings from the old phone. The app itself is great to work with once all this is sorted out, so still giving it a 4 star.

Update to previous comment-Changed phone mirror program to MyPhoneExplorer and walla this app works! Issue is not in this app I wouls say. I like the security features in this app. Previous Comment: all good except! when I connect via usb and use vysor to open on my pc this is the only app that does not appear! Does Open though! ???

Hate to say that Google Keep is my main note taking app. But, after I'm loosing my important notes after factory reset, Simple Notepad is my choice now. It's keep my notes saved as TXT file in SD Card. Love it! So, I can editing my notes on Pc or another device. But there's one thing that bother me. I know it's a simple notepad, but I'd love to see if it has a better design on note list. Please, do a simple makeover for your app.

A beautifully simple and straightforward list app. Allows notes and lists and allows pictures to be added. Voice input available too and quite accurate. Reminders for 30 minutes, 1 hour, etc plus custom reminders. Option to make remonders repeat until manually cancelled. The omly problem is I cannot get the sticky reminders to work.

Love the simplicity of this app and NO annoying ads - but a note of caution if using Greenify to close and lock your phone. If I leave Simple Notepad on and use the power button to go to standby I have to enter my PIN or use fingerprint to unlock. If l leave Notepad on and go to Standby and lock using the Greenify app, the lock function is overridden and my phone wakes up and is accessible without use PIN or fingerprint. This security flaw should be addressed.

Once I did a restart, I couldn't really customise it very well. The background and font of the list of notes was white and wouldn't change. It kept using the wallpaper even though I unchecked it. Other issues. So I'm uninstalling. Don't have time to fool around.

One suggestion : When we have typed something, and we go back, it saves the file automatically. It should not be the case. There should be a 'save' option. When we save it, only then the changes should save. Otherwise, all changes should be discarded. As there is no option for discarding changes, it creates problem when we have changed something in the file by mistake.

My list of notes comes up without any descriptions - blank. I can access all notes but I need to search manually thru the list. Even if I coup/paste the details into a new not, same thing. Any ideas?

I would rate it higher if the email I keep trying to contact would answer the issues of lost notes even though they were backed up. Don't provide a point of contact if you don't plan on helping someone. It works decent enough though.

I used it on my Samsung Note 3 and now switched to Samsung Note 5 phone, I faced problem in tranfering data to new handset. It doesnt support like data on site or copy to google /gmail. Else its a wonderful and best Note book app.

It was set up beautifully, still works fine but the option to change the title color is now lost.. (long press/choose color from menu) I'm left with all white as only color choice for titles, sadly...

Very good, ad free and lightweight. I'd rate five, but there needs to be an option to prevent the app from taking control of the volume button. It makes it a lot more cumbersome to use when I have to exit the app just to change my music volume.
