Gospel Library for Android
I love how convinient this app is for hyms, verses, studying and anything in between. Though I would much rather read through my personal tangible scriptures, as they hold something special to me that no app can replace. But this definatley comes in handy when you don't happen to have your scriptures around, and for travel. Thank you Lord for everything you bring us.
I'm having a lot of issues with the app syncing with my account, and downloading the scriptures. I have the S8+, and never had issues on my other Samsung devices.
Love the convenience of digital gospel materials, but the annotating function stopped working and all my highlighted texts and scriptures have disappeared. I also can't highlight anything as I read the scriptures anymore. Very frustrating.
This app used to be so nice for marking and listening to conference talks! Now it takes forever to load, spams ads at me and the marking tool takes forever to use, let alone, change colors.
Every time the app gets updated, some or other useful function disappears. In this case the Find in Page option is no longer there. Why? Otherwise the app is useful, but please bring back the Find in Page function!
Can we please have the option to "Hide items not downloaded" back? There is so much content on here, which is great, but I don't like having everything always visible. It feels cluttered to me, which is why I waited so long to DL the update. I needed access to the new class materials though. Thanks.
I loved this app until this new update. All my underlined annotations are gone, and I can no longer underline scriptures in the Book of Mormon only. I can highlight, but not underline, and I use both. It is really frustrating. ????????
The app isn't bad but it has terrible memory management. Every time I open the app it tries to download a million files. Half the time it takes longer to download the list of files so that you can open the songbook then the song itself. It used to work fairly well, but lately has been unusable due to the huge number of downloads.
Nice interface. Absolutely hate that it downloads content automatically. There is no setting to disable this. The app is already large without any content. It's way to big with all the stuff it automatically downloads. I will download what I need. Please don't spontaneously download Bible maps for me.
This app is horrible compared to iPhone version. The linking function (or lack thereof is a better way to put it) is horrible. The way you have to update your bookmarks is awful as well. Also the way that bookmarks and pages are in the same page is annoying. Needs a lot of work. How can this app have been around so long on Android and these things have not been addressed yet???
The previous version was good. I only loaded the update thinking the conference talk references for youth Sunday School might have changed. I do not like the update. I had downloaded the church magazines for numerous decades, but now I have to load them again--they seem to have disappeared when I updated. In the youth Sunday School Come Follow Me lessons, opening the link for a topic in the outline list for the month requires 2 steps now, it doesn't display the content with the first click on the link. And a HUGE PEEVE is that even though I downloaded every May and November Ensign since at least the 90's, when I click the hyperlink to the Ensign embedded in the lesson, I get an error message that the GENERAL CONFERENCE isn't downloaded and do I want to download it. Videos I downloaded so they'd be available offline won't play --they're giving a message that there was a problem when playing the video. Although I manually downloaded the various publications, when viewing the library offline, they all display the generic brown book cover icon rather than the specific identifying icon visible when online. I wish I could go bavk to the previous version.
There is this wonderful new practice called unit testing. That way, when you break the download manager (again) it doesn't have to be pushed into the app people use. ????
I love this app! However lately it keeps redownloading material I have already downloaded and crashes frequently on either my phone or tablet. Please repair it! Then I'll happily go up to 5 stars!
I love the app, but the current version needs a fix to allow download of the Book of Mormon. It won't allow any of my family members to have it who installed the app recently, No problems for devices that already have it,
Multiple times I am in church and trying to open up a lesson or conference talk, but it won't happen as it tells me that it is downloading over 1000 other things at the sametime on the app, when I have already downloaded the content many times before. It seems you can use this app anytime but at church on Sunday
Its mostly a good app. It has some issues but my main problem with it is that all the books of scripture are not all the same color. The book of Mormon is blue and all the rest are black. Have some consistency. At least make it an option for us to choose what color it is.
I miss the days where I could click the app and get to the scriptures right away. Now I often have to wait for it to download stuff before I can get to them. I don't understand why it constantly has to download. Maybe you could provide a more basic version of the app that is quicker and simpler. I only need the scriptures, hymnbook, lesson manual, most current 12 issues of the Ensign, and the 5 most recent years of conference talks. Let's get back to the basics. More features and more stuff = clutter and slowness. More isn't always better.
It's a great app but I have a massive issue downloading content. Keeps saying no space when I have space! I have to delete material and reinstall to get new material. Is this just me? Thanks anyway, it's still a blessing!
I used to love this app. But updates over the past couple years have made it go downhill. It loads slower, forgets my place, resets my saved pages and highlights. Very disappointed.
This is a 5 star app... when it's working. Since the last update I cannot get past the loading screen (black screen with Angel Moroni silhouette). I've uninstalled/reinstalled, and updated my android... No luck
Everything about this app is great-- except the autodownloading function. Is there a way to turn this off that I just am not seeing? It's very inconvenient and I have had to uninstall this app several times due to the massive amounts of space it eats up. The last time I uninstalled, it took up a whopping 301 megabytes and that was only with the necessities installed. (i.e. triple combination, hymnbook, teaching manual) Even then, the app continued to download content without my permission.
It's been great till the new update. Now for some reason when I updated the book of Mormon needs to be redownloaded plus the old testament. Each time I try to redownload it says failure to download.
Huge step back in design from previous version. Things that were simple are now complicated and hidden (like managing multiple app windows and highlighting--now five clicks required for every highlight). Things that were easy to read and scan are now small and obscure (page name on top left is roughly 7 letters then "..." , Added text on lists of conference talks is less than helpful). Back button is useless--android already has that; make it an "up-one-level" button instead. Constantly loads even when offline, easily the slowest app on my phone. I love the content and love the (old) app but am frequently frustrated with the step back in design.
The new update to the app that came in the last year or so is absolutely terrible. I miss being able to see the footnotes at the bottom of the screen as I read. The app takes forever to load before I can access anything, and it is constantly downloading material. Seriously go back to the old version and start making little improvements from there. This update was awful.
In the last 6 to 9 months, this app has really tanked. Every time I open the app I get the dreaded progress bar that seems to indicate that something is updating. Problem is it updates forever! The app is almost unusable. I primarily only have scriptures and conference talks downloaded to my device. Why is it always trying to update? The older versions of the app were much faster and more user friendly imho.
I can't use my favorite features anymore, listening to the scriptures, because there is no way to download to SD CARD anymore. Also, in conference talks, the speaker's name can not be seen from outside the talk and chapter headings age the same. This feels like a beta version. I loved version 3. I see no improvement, other than the ability to highlight more, but there are many many issues with this version.
It doesn't matter if the last time I opened the app was a day ago or an hour ago, every time I open it it has to update or download things. Are you really making that many changes to the standards works that constant updates are required? As far as I know, the old testament hasn't changed much in recent years. The wifi in my meeting house is very slow. When I open up my phone to find a scripture or read a passage freon the manual I don't appreciate having to wait five minutes while things sync.
This is the best and most used app I have. I don't have to worry about what class or lesson I'm needing, it's always available. Recently though my screens keep getting erased every time there is an update or download in progress. Is there a fix for that?
This app is great! I love how it has pretty much everything I need in the same place. Sometimes it takes a bit longer to load when I open the app, but maybe that's just my phone. A suggestion: it would be awesome if there was a notification feature for reminders to read that would show up on the phone. I am very aware of all my emails, texts, and other alarms because they appear in my phone's notification bar. I would love to see a little icon each morning telling me to read a few chapters from where I left off. Think about it!! ;)
I used to really love this app but lately, I guess with one of the recent updates, it constantly kicks me out and drops where I was. I read twice a day, at least, but don't always remember exactly where I stopped last, so it's really frustrating having to try to figure out where I was, so often. And often times with not much success. I like the ease of having an app, but I'm getting ready to just go back to my paper scriptures with a bookmark. ???? This has been happening for my husband as well... I'd really like to be able to read on my phone, put it away, and be able to pick up right where I left off....
Update: likes relatively easy to use, a wealth of information, can follow along in manuals, the footnote screen. Dislikes: I really only use it in church and every time I open the app it has to download the same things over and over again which can take a lot of time if there is a hundred other devices connected to the router (there was five mins left in class when it finally downloaded and I could get to the lesson). It can take a long time to look something up library, scriptures, book of Mormon, book, chapter, scroll to verse.
Its amazing! And i love it! I just can't find what year a scripture is in and right now i cant see the cute little book mark thing. Whatever. It'll show up again soon. I love this app, and all its resources! Its so easy to use!
Loved this as an audio until suddenly it has this extremely annoying and over dramatic dude reading. REALLY BAD!! To top it off it won't change from male to female reader. It has the option but doesn't change when you select it so I'm stuck with drama dude. Please go back to the old readers and fix the bug of voice selection.
Absolutely my favorite app. The recent updates allowing me to store screens in the bookmark tab just pushed this over the top. In a discussion, it is sooo easy and convenient to jump from one document/area to another and back that I can now follow along and participate on a new level. Of course, having my bookmarks and notations follow me from device to device and on to my desktop is great, but hey, that's old stuff. ???? I keep my display in night mode all the time as a matter of preference. Not sure why there isn't a more flexible display manager. But this is far and away better than any other ereader I have.
I love this app. However, every time I've opened it since the last two updates it tries to download EVERYTHING the app has to offer. This presents two problems. #1. I can't load what I'm looking for because the app is constantly busying itself with downloading. #2. My phone doesn't have the space necessary to contain all this information. As such, I am constantly having to delete other apps that I would love to have if I want to keep this app. I'm considering deleting this app.
Real step back in terms of highlighting. Now several steps to do unless you always use exactly the same color / type combination. So many enhancements but in this respect the old way with the little highlight bar always showing was MUCH better. Ironic that now that we have bigger screens they took that away.
Now that I've upgraded to a high-end phone, this isn't as bad anymore. It's not laggy anymore but now I've got a massively powerful phone - on my old entry-level one it was slower and slower. Not everyone is lucky enough to have that. I still notice the app trying to re-download stuff all the time which was my major gripe, but my phone's speed isn't affected as much as the old one. On the old phone, when I didn't have network access it would lock up. Now it doesn't. Still an annoyance though. Don't like the interface as much as the v3.0 series but if it actually worked properly I wouldn't have had an issue.
I loved the old version from a few months ago. This new version keeps messing up my annotations and I can't change the color, or note without deleting it and starting over, except then, I have this "ghost" annotation that is not in the "All" tab and I see the highlight, but there isn't a symbol nest to it to change anything. I also really liked the home button in the top left of the screen, now I have to hit the back button a bunch. Is there a way to get the old version instead?
This was absolutely my favorite app on my phone because of how awesome all the study features are, but for some reason it will not display anything anymore when I try to underline passages. All the things I had previously underlined are not showing up either. I can select the highlight as if there were something there, but it won't show the highlight itself. That part is kind of annoying and won't go away even when I try to redownload the app, but other than that it is perfect. Fantastic app for deeper study understanding.

Great way to read the scriptures, but I wish it has the option to change the font like the old version. The default serif font can be hard on the eyes sometimes.
